yes, the mage is hard to start with cuz you need many LP and you must save them for alchemy and rune learnings
but with transformation that goes pretty well, anyway does not exist a rune to transform? i mean i can transform as many times i want with a rune of this kind, right?

unfortunately there isn't such a thing in Gothic 1-2

Would make the games too easy. They added transformation "runes" in Gothic 3 but they're almost useless.

meh, the scrolls are rare too, i think there's one or two kings in the game
i am talking about strong beasts, not transform in meatbug or wolf

I guess that there is only one dragon snapper transformation scroll, around 5 shadowbeasts and around 10 wargs?

yup and thanks to it I reached lvl 14 before talking to Lord Hagen (and khorinis was an island with no monsters hehe (I even used it to clear bandits at the dexter's tower, since normal way, Greg deals most killing blows so you lose exp there)

NOTR as a mage is hard until you get the claw of beliar. Then the game becomes a piece of cake. It's not for beginners that's for sure but it's much more satisfying that playing as a paladin or mercenary in chapters 4, 5 and 6 (you can finish that in 5 min as a mage).

ye, paladin and mercenary is balanced the entire game
mage is low at begin, overpower after like middle-game )

The claw of beliar is pretty much useless for a mage except for the Cry of the Dead, which you unlock only when you have learned the 6th circle of magic. And the spell is tricky to use properly, since it drains all of your current mana and deals 666 damage twice, first on contact and second time when it explodes and damages the area arround it... or at least when I last played it, the spell dealt damage twice.

Paladin is also unbalanced once you unlock the runes. It's basically free experience from all orcs and undead. The Banish Evil rune deals 600 damage to the target it hits, knocking pretty much everything off their feet in 2 shots. Combining that with the durable paladin armor and the assumingly high melee damage from Beliar's Claw(which, by the way, hits the orcs & lizardmen & golems with lightning mulptiple times instantly whenever they block or strafe) makes the paladin the easiest most overpowered character you can have in the game.
There's absolutely no reason to go for a 2handed build, since if you master 1h + claw of beliar = everything instantly falls dead when you swing the blade. Of course without the UD dragon but yeah

No one said you have to turn the claw of beliar in a rune. You can use it just like everyone else. Otherwise you're gonna have a very tough time in chapter 3, especially with those seekers.

yes, claw of beliar is useless for mage, but the magic skills hits rarely, i mean, some beasts you can hit multiple times with a spell it just does not touch it
so the best way remains summoning...

i don't know what fear does, i never tried it
in G1 there are many spell runes that i don`t know what they do, like pyrokinesis (telekinesis moves objects but this?)

stuns everyone around you for 2-3 seconds and then they run in panic (and you can hit them during that time). It's really OP
Pyrokinesis- stuns enemy and deals fire damage to him (I guess it works only on NPCs but not on animals)
