    Gothic 2 notr sword damage

    Hello again all.

I know this question has been asked before but I just wanted to confirm with the other experienced players that I understand this correctly. In my character build I raised dexterity first to enable bow use and to get the Masters Sword from Martin. I have now raised my characters strength quite significantly and would be able to wield 90 strength requirement swords (1 handed only).

However as I understand it, although dexterity is a requirement for the Masters Sword it should still deal 120 damage + my strength, whereas the other sword will only deal 90 + strength. I have tried both swords but the strength dependancy swords seems to be doing more damage making me question whether strength or dexterity is used for the Masters Sword? Could just be I am getting lucky with criticals with the strength dependent blade?

    Any advice appreciated.

You understand wrong , if you have the Master Sword (120 dmg) you wont deal anymore damage if you have strengh. You deal more dmg with a sword that has his attribute on str if you have str as well.
So , you wont deal anymore dmg with a sword on dexterity if you have quite strengh !. Dexterity is for bow and thievs abbilities ( like pickpockets).
+ Criticals are dealt on how much u are trained on 1 H or 2 H. This doesn't mean if if you are trained 80-90 % you deal just criticals because when you get that chance you fight just orcs and undeads so it would be a bit hard.

No, the attribute requirement of a weapon doesn't necessarily reflect the damage modifier.
All melee weapon damage is modified by Strenght and all ranged weapon damage is modified by Dexterity.

For example crossbows require Strength but their modifier is Dexterity.

Eh, a 120 damage sword always does more damage than a 90 damage sword.
Regardless on the requirement to wield it.
Maybe you just scored more criticals with the 90-damage sword than you did with the 120-damage sword?

With non-critical hits you'd barely notice a difference, afaik.
Assuming 90 str and 120 dex vs. an opponent with 0 armour.
90-dmg sword would do: 17.9 damage on a regular hit.
120-dmg sword would do: 20.9 damage on a regular hit.
Criticals deal roughly ten times as much.

Increasing dex to what's in the following image would make 0 difference with swords/axes/etc.

Yeah, in G2, normal and critical hits are more like blundered and successful hits.
