Most dangerous place in Gothic 1 and Gothic 2?
I think : Gothic 1 - Gilbert's Cave ( i have fallen 6 or more times when playing hardcore challenge )
Gothic 2 - Around the old camp castle ( because dozens of orcs and wargs )
What do you think?
-
Gothic 1: Forest near Old camp while been lvl 1-2 xD
Gothic 2: The fields near buster that were filled with "Field Raiders" while been lvl 3 :d
-
Well...
At the beginning...
G1: Forest and places near the sect
G2: Zone around Onar
Late game...
G1: Free mine
G2: well, you need to be careful all day long for Seekers, Orcs...Dragons!
If you even try to look the other way...

Gameplay-wise:
Gothic
The Fog Tower. Too many skeletons, too little space to move.
Gothic II
I guess it's the woods around the Circle of the Sun, goblin skeletons and all. I always have a hard time noticing them in the tall grass.
Gothic II - Night of the Raven
Must be the swamp around the bandits' camp. Swamp trolls golems, swampsharks, swamp drones... Venturing there depletes my health potion reserves rather quickly.
Lore-wise:
Gothic
The Temple of the Sleeper, of course. Fighting undead orc shamans, actual demons and crazed templars is quite a challenge, even for the Chosen of Innos. Also, spike traps and lava. Oh yeah, and an archdemon.
Gothic II
The Halls of Irdorath. Similar reasons to those listed above. I mean, come on, it's the bastion of everything evil.
Gothic II - Night of the Raven
I always considered the Canyon to be a dangerous area, although it's quite easy in the game. I think several pirates revere it as perilous, too.

Guess you were refering to swamp golems:P
I guess I was. It's been quite some time since I last played a Gothic game. Apparently, some details have escaped my mind already
-
swamp gollems - oh yes, I remember it is really hard to spot them without bow, first times they were always a grave-trap for me
-
In the sleeper's temple there's a chamber with 2 switches. No matter in which order you use them the raise some pillars/platforms, however if you don't use them in the right order the ceiling drops onto you and kills you... and, of course, I never know the right order.
Unlike in G1, where there was only a few VERY dangerous places, in G2 you've got a lot of more-or-less dangerous places scattered around.
So in G2 any place with golems is a problem for me because I don't really know a strategy for fighting them except swinging my blade left-right and praying that they don't hit me.

Of course, the most dangerous thing to do in dangerous areas is not SAVING!!!
-
the Valley of mines, either Gothic.
All ways keep an eye out for trouble when venturing outside the castle.

oh yeah! dungeons of that tower is bloody spooky! and that undercroft of a small chappel near Lobart's farm is a tough place - I always leave it for later chappters (4 or 5). IMHO similar (same) enemy forces should be in that cave guarding Dragonslayer

Gothic 1: The old camp, with every single turn you take a new bully comes along also the tower with the undead, can't really recall the name right now.
Gothic 2: Certainly Xardas' old tower and the whole area around the paladin camp. The dragon areas were more difficult but when you get there you know what you are about to face so you are prepared, Xardas' tower caught me by surprise the first time I went there. Also there's the catacobs under the monastery, or the catacobs in Onar's farm with Anubis, damn I loved those places, good memories...

From a subjective perspective:
G1: The deep swamp. You need to get there too early in order to get weed for Kalom. You have to kill some bloodflies but the whole swamp is also filled with swampsharks which are way out of your league. Scared the crap out of me the first time.
G2: The dark forrest between Akil's farm and the lighthouse (where you get part of the ornament in NotR). Now this place has it all: wargs, shadowbeasts, snappers, skeletons, orcs, elites and even lizard men. And it's so dark and hard to explore. Even in the final chapter when I am strong as hell I'm still scared when entering that forrest because you can always be attacked by a surprise enemy from behind.
From a objective perspective:
G1: Fog tower. Too many skeletons and too little space. The good part is that no main quest sends you there so you can delay entering the tower for as much as you want.
G2: The cript behind the mercenary camp. Once again many enemies and too little space. But just like the fog tower, you don't have to go there untill you're strong enough.

I remember that swamp golem standing near that broken bridge where lays the magic bow, 99% of time, I got hit and... well.... I started to sing "I believe I can fly" xD

Golems are annoying as hell. Apart from the swamp golems you mentioned, there are also those fire golems on the volcano, and they try their hardest to knock you off the mountain. Too bad, NH doesn't yell like Max Payne. That'd be awesome!
