Hi there! My sun looks like a big black/white flashing square !After a year of putting up with it,and even not playing g3 because of it,im fed up with that sun.So can anybody help me or not.Info: I not only rinstalled the game,but had my OS reinstalled and not to mention that now have the latest ati drivers,...but its still there.I dont use depth of field.

I remember seeing the same problem in the game TES3: Morrowind, on ati cards. Does it look like here? . If so, you should try to get newer drivers for your video card. If it is any help to you, here it is the link to the problem for morrowind on google. If you managed to solve the problem, please reply, and if you not, i hope someone else will be able to help. Hey there! First of all, thank you for answering, and reading mi problem. So: my sun looks like a black flashing square with the sun in the middle. Its flashing black/white/blue 10 times in a second ! As far as my computer is concerned:It is in Tip-Top state, i just recently had it serviced completely, in an authorized computer service, I even watched it get done: system reinstall,latest ati drivers dx9, eveything was done by a professional,so my computer is completely out of the question. Gothic 3 alwais worked fine untill that sun showd up and it never went away! I WAS hoping that now with te system reinstalled and everything the sun would be ok again like it was before,but it still there. And I'm amazed that so many people read this thread and nobody answered,except you,thans for that,it cheered me up a bit.I would love to make a screenshot but I dont even have Gothic 3 installed now,because im angry at that stupid sun !!! And I forgot how.Intel 2.53 Ghz , Ati Radeon X800 256 Mb , 1024 Mb RAM. So I usuali had medium texture details, high distances, high shadows, and overglow. And it worked on 30fps in cityes and 40-50 in wilderness.

Have you had problems with other games as well? I mean games from 2006 till present. If so, it may be a problem from your graphics card. Otherwise, I do not have any other idea (only if you check that google link i posted about the game morrowind, it may be a similar problem, related to ATI as well). Hopefully, you will get an answer from someone with experience. See you!

The problem can be caused because of your video card 256 is good but not enough to get a good gameplay
As i seen on the G3 supported video cards : Radeon X800 is not mention there for GOOD PERFORMANCES so you can play the game but with some difficulties.

No, I have no other problems. I play Two Worlds 1 (2008) on max settings with no problems! And I play T.E.S. IV : Oblivion with QuarlsTexturePack 3.0 Redimized and 20 other mods including MartigensMonsterMod 3.0 ,and I have no problems at all! It runs on more than 60 fps(with fraps)! My Oblivion at the moment has 12.8 GB .And I play Doom 3 on High. (and Gothic1,Gothic2Gold); and Wik. Haha,now I' ve told you my most beloved gaming arsenal..I am gonna look at that link more closely and see what can be found,thank you. Please check this thread out some more in the comeing days. Can you install G3 and take a screenshot of the problem?

Also, in the options, set Shader Model to 1.4 and see if the problem still occurs.

Well I' ve played Gothic 3 for two years with no problems ! . And gameplay was fine, Textures on medium, distances high, overglow, and shadows on high. There were no player shadows because X800 has 2.0 and player shadows require 3.0,but I had beatiful shadows of trees and canopyes.And X800 is in the gothic3.ini as supported.By the way, my pc was extra,extra tuned especialy for gaming and hdtv, because it was built by a freak who made it have the capabilities that far exide its shown information. For examplen my pc: Gothic 3 never ever crashed, even the well popular genome engine stutering and freezing occured minimaly every 30 min; and on my friends pc: Intel Core2Duo 2.5ghz,Ram 5gb,Nvidia 8600 GT 640 Mb, Gothic 3 ran on high for 5 minutes,and then,not only crashed, but the computer SHUT DOWN ! It sounded like a lawn mower! It was sooo warm,that you couldnt hold your hand on it for too long. And I should go and buy a pc in a store, yeah right !

I guess you'll have to get the tech guys to install a slightly older driver which didn't have the problem. But I'd like to see the screenshot first.
