Starting Chapter 3 of Gothic 2 Gold and get Assertion failed error when travelling through the pass from Khorinis to the Valley of Mines. Have reloaded, resaved and run out of ideas.... Have had no problem travelling through the pass in Chapter 2.

Do you have the full error message (there a full error message)?

The problem with assertion is that, unless there's a documented case of assertions failing somewhere on the forum at that specific point, it could refer to anything in-game.

If there is no detailed message you could try teleporting somewhere, sleeping for a bit in a bed, or even selling some stuff or dropping ti on the ground. There's a chance that none of these will work, since the problem could be just about anything.
