Gothic 3 Archer
I just want to start a new game and I was thinking that to be an archer, is good or not. Someone tried this at home? or not?. I just search in YouTube for archer videos but found nothing interesting.

It can be quite damaging (don't forget to use bows rather than crossbows, the former are much more versatile),but arrows can be quite hard to find at first (don't forget that arrow vendors replenish their stock after 3-4 days,so you can sleep and buy lots of arrows). Also, don't forget that skeletons are immune to arrows.
-
If you're a good archer, really archer-based, then you can knock out an dragon without - much - trouble. You're just to quick.
If you try to get close, for a melee battle, prepare to get roasted.
I'd say 4 snappers are more dangerous then 1 dragon when it comes to archery.
(You miss it most of the time, don't headshot this one, headshot everything else though: more damage)
Get yourself a good bow with the skill ''master archer'' as soon as possible.

Immune? against normal arrows but there are a lot of arrow types(ore, explosive knock down, fire arrow). yeah probably there should be some problems to get enough arrow before a long journey. (:

I just start the new game there are some annoying situations when the arrow just go through the enemy and don't damage it. To get a good bow is all about the money.... but challenge accepted I don't know if I will finish the game but I will take a shot.

I'm not crazy only on medium with AB and A.I. on, if I play on hard i'm not sure that my PC should survive the end of the game:P

I don't rly make trouble to make money in G3 there's a lot of possibilities. But I already get a Brass Tank 10k gold and a bow witch one was 18k, and I make the money fairly easy without any problem, and I only make the quest in Ardea, Cape Dun and Reddock, and get everything possible

get as much as possible, but don't steal too much.

Crossbows get only bonuses from the three crossbow skills, not from the hunting skills.

ahh that's bad, then you can get the most dmg with bows, of course against a few animals, (demon bow 150dmgx2=300 + 45(exploding arrow)x2=90= 390 + (hunting skill/2) let's say 500 in the late game so thats= 390+250=640+2x25x2= 740 and against undeads, orcs you don't have to many chance then( 150 dmg demon bow+ 50 dmg skills+ 25 orc hunter+ 45 exploding arrow+and 250 from hunting skill.)=520dmg

I played G3 through on Easy jut for curiousity and I beat down an Ogre with 4 shots. I got the Orc Slayer skill an an Elite Orc was 5 shots for me. Since I played it through 3 times (on Normal) and began it almost EIGHT times I can say that at the late game you should beat an Elite Orc in 6-7 shots and the animals in 2-3 shots. i don't know much about the damage calculation, but belive me, if you have 300+ hunting, then you should have no problem.
-
dude, what 'animals' are you talkin' about? The Wharg's? Ok, 2-3 shots, but wolfs?
seriously, with 300+ Dex and a fine bow, u should almost 1-shot every animal.
At max 2 hits. Ofc not Dragons...

Archery is pretty hard compared to spellcasting. You have to aim every shot very carefully and in movement, while the mage blasts everything to shit with homing missiles and doesn't need to think twice. Besides, a lot of creatures seem to be pretty resistant to arrows. Apart from that, it's the same deal as mage, shoot, run, shoot, run, oh crap, melee. To make your life easier get either some endurance and strength (also dual sword fighting if you like) or a lot of endurance.
