Gothic 3 and Forsaken Gods need a decent all purpose FAQ

I'll get to the point. After looking at the horribly out of date, badly formatted stickies we have on Gothic 3 and Forsaken Gods, they are in severe need of the following:

    1. Reorganization and cleanup.
    2. Updated information up to the CP 1.74 Patch (G3) and the EE 2.0 Patch (FG)
    3. Both stickies lack a general items list for either game.

Also, for the ease of new players, I propose that once this information is updated, and collated, a general purpose FAQ be drawn up (to be disseminated in PDF, HTML, RTF, TXT, etc format for free download from this website) for both Gothic 3 and Forsaken Gods.

They should detail all the quests, have lists for everything, and generally serve as an all purpose guide for Gothic 3/FG players

It is easy to find FAQs for Gothic 1 and 2 on GameFAQs, but Gothic 3 and FG have no decently complete walkthroughs (unofficial or even one that can be bought in a store) available anywhere on the internet with all the information in one place updated to the latest patches, and personally, I believe it would benefit the community if we could draw these up.

I would be happy to donate my time towards a project like this and would like to know if anyone else is interested.

Yes, I was going to make a simpler walkthru, dealing mainly with every quest available, but it just wasn't interesting anymore after a couple play thrus.

I guess there is a supposed to be a sense and tension in the game that Thorus
    is going to attack Gorn....hmmmm.

Just provoke a group of orcs in the encampment outside of Montera and
lead them up to the wood stockade and watch the battle begin, hee
About the only action in this stinker.

Actually, I wanted to make a walkthrough for both Gothic 3 AND Forsaken Gods.

I'm currently lacking a list of all items for both games: how much they cost and their gold value when sold, their descriptions and effects.

I also need a full list of recipes, rings and forging blueprints for both games updated to the latest patches.

Finally, one of the biggest things I'm missing is a complete enemies list (including all varieties of humans and orcs) and I also need a loot table list for all monsters and humanoids.

For instance, on top of needing to include all humanoid enemies and their general loot table (as some of it is random), some enemies like goblins and Schrats carry different types of weapons and I'll need to add that information as well.

If anyone is willing to help me acquire this information for both games it would be helpful.

P.S. - The reason I even came up with this idea is because there is absolutely no one "all purpose" FAQ for either game that is reasonably complete and accurate, and I wanted to remedy that for both new gamers and Gothic veterans, especially those who are completionists (like myself).

Of course, I agree with you that the lists and FAQs aren't the best ones. I don't want to stop your enthusiasm to start such an initiative. But maybe start to think in lower dimensions. The game is five years old and the number of players decreases more and more. In opposite to Gothic 1 and 2 the motivation to play Gothic 3 again and again isn't quite high. So cogitate about the use of such a big project.
We did a complete remake of the FAQs in the German forum some years ago. It took half a year to overwork all the lists and texts and to adept them to CP 1.7x. And our FAQs there aren't as huge as you want to create here. Because there is no need for a complete list of all items with all its values and so on for example. We have it for weapons and other equipment but not for all the items. The same for a list of all npcs. A list of monsters, ok ... otherwise what's wrong with the existing list of them?
Forsaken Gods was mostly ignored by the German community and I suppose it's similar to many other Gothic fans. Therefore we don't have really good FAQs of it. There were no players who started to create great texts and lists. What we have here in the English forum is a translation of the few German FAQs which existed before the extended patch was released.

Again: I don't want to stop you. But maybe think of the dimension which is really needed today and for this five years old game.

    I have thought about it

First off, sir, you make excellent points, and I agree Gothic 3 and especially Forsaken Gods don't have as large a fanbase as Gothic 1 and 2.

However, by the same token, now that they have been patched to playability status and the Community Story Project is planning to make Gothic 3 even more fun to play, it sure wouldn't hurt to at least have a nice series of easy to understand lists players could consult to keep everything straight, as this is an rpg for kleptomaniacs (seriously, there is a LOT one can shove in their inventory), and a few lists of all the ingame content that are current would be nice for newbies and veterans alike.

Besides, I'm already done with all the weapons and armor (except for all the rings), and below is a list of all I would need to finish:

Skills (have the information I need, just need to type it out)

Spells (have the information I need, just need to type it out)

Alchemy and Forging Lists (already have nearly all the information I need on hand, just need to type it out)

Food Items (need some more info, WIP)

Miscellaneous Items (need some more info, WIP)

Magical Items (need some more info, WIP)

Monster List (mostly complete, need info on all types of humans and orcs as well as their general loot tables)

The above aside, I don't really need all that much else to finish my Gothic 3 Lists FAQ, and over half the Forsaken Gods versions will be a copy-paste of my WIP Gothic 3 Lists FAQ.

That said, I was introduced to Gothic via Gothic 3, then I discovered Gothic 1 and 2 (which are beyond awesome and I still play them more than Gothic 3/FG).

However, at the same time, I still like Gothic 3 (and FG now that it's patched), and considering the information the English side of this site has is woefully incomplete, I want to give a little bit of my free time as a Gothic fanboy back to the community and make a small guide listing all the weapons/armor/skills/spells/item/etc that can be found so those needing the information will have it readily available.

And, all I'd like is a little help gathering the info, as I plan to do the actual FAQ writing myself if need be.

Ok, if you want to do all these things alone I won't try to stop you
I will do changes in the FAQ threads here if you tell me. Changes at the website are quite difficult at the moment. I can contact our webmaster if we have finished texts and lists but that will need some time to add them to the website.

Well, the good news is that I have finished over half of my proposed guide already, with the item list being the most incomplete list so far.

Once I have finished that, I plan to submit a copy of my updated Gothic 3 Lists (updated to Community Patch 1.74, based on the changes listed in the handbook included in said patch).

And, once I'm sure I have submitted all the information needed for Gothic 3, I plan to submit a similar FAQ for Forsaken Gods.

Right now, I am almost done with my guide, with the main remaining sections needing completion being the item lists.

Unfortunately, there are literally no (English) lists available with most of the items (those that did not get changed or altered with the patches) available, and while I obviously have the game, there are a LOT of items to cover and I do not have information on all of their uses and locations, so if anyone is willing, please contact me and I will send a copy of my WIP item lists for perusal and updating.

I am mainly trying to acquire information on the gold value of most objects (most objects can be sold if not bought, and I need the buying value of most items). I also need a complete list of quest objects (I am using the insert codes of the game for the base of my list, but I am uncertain which ones have changed or become irrelevant with subsequent patches)

I also have a few other things I need to cover, but this is my major stumbling block at the moment, and if anyone wishes to contribute information, please contact me if you would like to help.

P.S. - Once I am done with my Gothic 3 and Forsaken Gods Walkthrougths, I wanted to cover the QuestPacket and Content Mod items in a separate FAQ for the benefit of English speakers (since both mods have the information available for the German side of the fanbase insofar as I'm aware).
