Seems G3 default installed 'very high' on my old 2.5 pII and geforce 256mb 7300,
at 1024x768
and it was playable but sluggish. But going into options and changing ANY thing seemed to royally screw the game up thereafter.

The Enhanced Edition of Forsaken Gods runs much smoother than Gothic 3

That's right because in G3FG EE CPT implemented local cache for the compiled shaders which minimizes micro-stuttering effects. G3 EE doesn't have this cache and all shaders (*.fx) compiling during gameplay without storing compiled ones on the hard disk.
