Last week I tried to install Gothic on my parents new bought PC, but the problem is that they don't have internet.
When I try to start the game, the game check for updates and it won't start because there is no connection.

Does anyone know if there is a patch or change to skip this update-check so I can play the game at my parents?

Install patch 1.74. That would fix loads of things. But it's a rather big download.

If not, start the game by navigating to the game's folder and launch gothic3.exe. The shortcut on the desktop/start menu, iirc, point to kupdate.exe, which tries to find the updates. For convenience, make a new shortcut or edit the old one to point to gothic3.exe

Do you really never bought Steam versions of games? I think that Internet connection requirement for the game activation and auto-update checking may be linked with the Steam client launched by the Steam version of Gothic 3.

I think it must be retail DVD version.
