    Gothic I/II screen resolutions

    Is there a way to use higher resolutions than 1440x900 in GI/II?

    Thanks

    go to your game folder in there go to /system. There look for the gothic.ini file and in there look for these lines:

    zVidResFullscreenX=
    zVidResFullscreenY=

    Fill in the resolution. save the ini and play the game and enjoy!

    I already tryied that and it works, game is little choppy from time to time but it is playable.
    I also noticed that this trick doesn't stay permanently, every time I want play I need to manually change resolution in .ini file. If anyone knows any other solution please let me know.
    Thanks

    Make the changes, save the file with another name, like gothic.my
    Make a .bat file, in it put:

    Code:
    copy gothic.my gothic.ini /Y
    gothic2.exe
    This bat save it in the System folder. And launch the game using this one instead of Gothic2.exe

    For G1: If you have the playerkit installed open GothicGame.ini (in the system folder) and add the following lines to the [OVERRIDES] section:

    VIDEO.zVidResFullscreenX=1680
    VIDEO.zVidResFullscreenY=1050
    VIDEO.zVidResFullscreenBPP=32

    Change the values to match your desired resolution. The last line is needed because Gothic will reset to 16BPP when an unkown resolution is used.

    oh so I don't really need those .bat files to run a game on 1080 res without reseting?

    I've already set up .bat files for both G1 and G2 so I'll use those. But thanks anyway!

    ok now I have another problem . The .bat method worked fine with G1 but with G2 works ok until I load saved game. The picture seems stretched and its ok again if I start a new game. This is very odd problem .

    Here, I made a screenshots:
    When I start a new game:

    After I load saved game:

    I now, I am annoying with my resolution problems but I really want to play Gothic games after a while.

    Thanks

    Oh that, that's a problem with G2 itself. It doesn't support widescreen resolutions, despite G1 supporting them. The correct aspect ratio is obtained only when the patch corrects it, but it fails to always do so.

    Oh well... then I am stuck with 1440x900 , Its ok once you get use to it on a 1920x1080 monitor

    Thanks anyway
