Win7 - Gothic2 - Graphic problems.
Hello and greetings,
I have a little problem. Everything works in the start with xardas and all that. But once I leave the tower the pictures goes bananas. Lots of strange texture faults etc.
I've just installed win7 x64, it worked fine with vista x84.
I have the newest bios, graphic and motherboard drivers installed.
My motherboard is a asus p5kc, videocard: nvidia 8800gtx, cpu: Intel quad core 2,4 ghz
Thanks

Hi and §welcome to the forum!
Well, I have exactly the same problem, also with gothic 1.
Win 7 x64 (rc1), asus m3n72-d, nvidia 9800gt (1gb), amd 64 x2 6000+ (3,1 GHz), 6GB RAM.
Does it happen that you get also this error message:
X: XD3D_InitPerDX: Can't create D3DX context! Error: DDERR_UNSUPPORTEDMODE
(After g2 crashes just wait a bit, it need some time till it shows that message.)
Till now, no solution found, i will post if i find something that helps. (And do the same please, if you find a solution).

That is a totally different problem, don't mix up the topics, ... instead open up a new thread for your problem.

Hello there Werner, and thanks!
I've never waited for that error message, but one time I got a message that my video driver stopped working.

I've tried to wait, and I got the same message as you.

Your problem is most likely the nvidia driver for Win7. There were some threads about this in the German help section. ATI systems are working fine, the nvidia systems are having such issues. So keep checking for newer drivers.

I tried to install an old driver for vista x64. It didn't do the trick. So it can't be because of the video driver for win 7?

OK, give this a try:
Install the GeForce 185.81(Beta) (not the WHQL certified 185.85)
In the nvidia control panel adjust the settings for the Gothic.exe and the Gothic2.exe like this (you have to add them if they are not listed):
Anisotropic filtering--------------------------------Application controlled
Antialiasing Gamma-Correction---------------------Off
Antialiasing - Mode--------------------------------Off
Antialiasing-Setting--------------------------------Application controlled
Antialiasing - Transparency------------------------Off
Conformant texture clamp-------------------------Use hardware
Error reporting------------------------------------Off
Extension limit------------------------------------Off
Force mipmaps------------------------------------None
maximun pre-rendered frames----------------------3
Multi-display/mixed-GPU acceleration---------------Single display performance mode
**SLI performance Mode---------------------------Single GPU
Texture filtering - Anisotropic sample optimization----Off
Texture filtering - Negative LOD-bias----------------Clamp
Texture filtering - Trilinear optimization--------------On
Texture filtering Quality-----------------------------Quality
Threaded optimization------------------------------Auto
Triple buffering-------------------------------------On
Vertikal sync---------------------------------------Force off
**SLI performance mode is not present with single-GPU cards.
