Hi,
In my exploring of the Gothic II world with NotR addon, I have discovered a cave a little ways east of the black troll on the map. If you have the Shrines of Innos map, it's very close to the northernmost shrine (it's on the right hand side). Anyway, there is the cave there, if you know what I'm talking about, which contains two passageways. One leads up and eventually to two Minecrawler warriors. The other leads down to a weird, magical place with statues and glowing blue lights. There is a locked chest down here, but I can't pick it. It says I need the right key. Does anyone know how I acquire this key? Is it something I get later in the storyline (I'm hunting dragons right now, having killed only the swamp one, though I have killed all the fire dragon's guards)? Or do I just need to do something special? Thanks!

That cave is part of the mage playthrough, the quest is called 'Test of fire'. When you play as a mage, you need to do that quest in order to become a mage §wink
Rats. So I can't get into that chest without playing as a mage?

yes i know what inside that chest, are you sure you want to know? i put it in spoilers
one blank/empty/clean rune needed for a quest for fire mages to create your first rune (fire arrow) so don't worry theres NOTHING else there no gold... no nothing only one blank rune.
A nice Cave Location, very impossible to find when you first first play the game, and you decide to play as mage, you'll probably kill yourself before you find it.(without want to ask about it)

Hell yea. Covered by those plants, it's impossible to see the entrance, if you don't get to close.
I accidentally found it the first time I was playing, and I knew where it was after that. It's one of my favorite caves in the game, so I'm a little dissapointed... Anyway, another questions. Does anyone know what the deepest/largest cave is in the game, so that I can go splunking? :)

There is a big cave near Dexter's tower (not the one by his house). Behind the tower there is a small road that leads to the cave. Can't remember exactly, but I think it's loaded with skeletons.

Indeed, maybe the largest cave from G2. Good question actually, never thought at this... But the cave I liked most was the one from G1 under the Fog Tower.

I think the biggest cave in G2 is the one deep down in the valley just outside of Khorinis.where you fight through field raiders, wargs and a shadowbeast before you get to the cave.

I'm pretty much sure the cave I mentioned above is bigger than that cave.
Alright! Gonna try and find that one by Dexter's tower... I need to go there anyway to solve the quest, "Torlof's fear of the dark men." Or something like that. Like I said, my favorite cave so far is that one with the chest in it that this topic was first about. I also really liked the crypt behind Onar's farm, but that's not really a cave. You know, the one with the two switches and the moving grave
That was a pretty epic cave. I must say, that Skeleton Mage killed me the first time because he got a lucky shot off with ice block, and then called a skeleton. I was toast. But I got him the second time. I made a new thread about your favorite places in Gothic in the Discussion section. It fits more of what this thread is becoming about. :)
