Just installed G1, and how does it work!?

I just installed it and i changed my settings to max and controls to the alternative ones, the more gothic II alike.. and I have no clue how to pick up items nor talk to people, it says "action key - left ctrl" but shit doesnt happen when i try that, I've tried every key on my keyboard and mouse button but nothing seems to activate the dialogues with people or let me pick up items...

btw the hero jumps gay in gothic 1 :-O

You should try to post this thread in HELP. Anyway to do an action in G1 use Ctrl+foreword, instead of just Ctrl like in G2.

All actions in Gothic 1, are made with CTRL(action key) + Forward.
When you want to transfer sth to your inventory, it's CTRL + RIGHT.
When you fight, its CTRL + FORWARD, LEFT, RIGHT, BACK.
When you try to use sth, (in inventory) its the same, CTRL + FORWARD.

You will get used to it. In Gothic 2, they made it easier. But I like it both.
Hero jumps ok, IMO.

you may also want to know that to end a transaction( buy\sell stuff) you need to hit enter

And you get asked if you want to accept the deal, alter it or decline it.
For jumping you also need to use ctrl+up, same goes for climbing.
Also, if you want to pick up an item, you can hold down ctrl and use the left/right arrow to change the item. (also works for the npcs and talking)
I really missed that last bit in G2...

actualy instead of ctrl you sould use clik & right clic for jumping
