Steam version : Crash on load (no Config)

Hello

I've bought the steam version, and when i try to launch it , i get this message:

It seems that the file config.xml has not been created :/

windows authorisation problem
solution for Windows7 :

pls chk if you have this directory:

C:\Users\Username\Documents\Grotesque-Tactics\Settings

copy the default.xml in there. (you find it here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\grotesque tactics\Grotesque-Tactics\Settings)

You also need this directory:

C:\Users\Username\Documents\Grotesque-Tactics\SaveGames
copy the newgame.sav (you find it here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\grotesque tactics\Grotesque-Tactics\SaveGames)

C:\Documents and Settings\YourPCName\My Documents\Grotesque-Tactics\Settings

-> copy the default.xml in there.


C:\Documents and Settings\YourPCName\My Documents\Grotesque-Tactics\SaveGames

-> newgame.sav

However we fixed this with the patch and hope that steam will make an update soon.

Had the same problem, but did as you asked and created a C:\Users\Username\Documents\Grotesque-Tactics\Settings directory and threw in the config.xml file found under Steam\steamapps\common\grotesque tactics\Grotesque-Tactics\Settings. This seemed to fix the problem, and I could play the game.

However, it won't let me load my save files. In fact, my saves don't show up at all, once I've exited and re-entered the game again, though I can still find a "newgame.sav" file under the SaveGames directory.

Is there some special new directory I need to move those to, as well? And do I then have to move the save file manually every time I want to reload my game? That would get annoying fast.

do you have admin rights for your PCs? Windows Vista or something else?
Do you use a few accounts for the pc?
the best thing is to play the game with the account you installed.

You also need this directory:

C:\Users\Unsername\Documents\Grotesque-Tactics\SaveGames

per default here should be:
newgame.sav
saves.bin (this file represents the text informations of your save games in the loading screen !)

0.sav is autosave
1. sav is quicksave (press F5 to save and F9 to load)
2-6.sav are the save slots

okidoki, here we go. On windows XP the directories have different names:

C:\Documents and Settings\YourPCName\My Documents\Grotesque-Tactics\Settings

-> copy the default.xml in there.


C:\Documents and Settings\YourPCName\My Documents\Grotesque-Tactics\SaveGames

-> newgame.sav

Hey. Like the op i have the same problem. Shouldnt the directory be something like: "Program Files(86)/Steam/Steamapps/common/Grotesque-Tactics/Settings" as we are currently talking about the steam version?

I checked and i got both the default and newgame files where they are supposed to be (inside steam folders) and the game wont launch. Any ideas?

and when you put this file in this directory
C:\Users\Username\Documents\Grotesque-Tactics\Settings
You still get this fault?

should be the solution. Steam creates normaly the directories outside steam. If you have no windows authorisation there, you get this error and you have to create the directory manually.
But we will patch this soon, so that the default steam directory will be enough. I edit my first posting above.
