MASSIVE SPOILERS AHEAD.
Is there any specific secret aspect about the game itself (doesn't matter which part) that you discovered only after several playthroughs?
I,for myself, have played Gothic 2 NOTR as thoroughly as I could, and only after eleven playthroughs did I find out how to disable the trap in the lizard isle.I would always try to run or jump across the spikes, hoping that they would not get me.Man,that was hard, believe me.
So what would be your case?
In G1, the way to get through to the Sleeper's temple by a means other than the figurine.
In G2, I found several caves in later playthroughs, including the one Dexter has, and often I took several playthroughs to open certain locked doors in such caves. Also, it was only by the 3rd playthrough that I noticed that there was a battle going on at Fajeth's mine in the fourth chapter. And several more in that game, I imagine.
Also a few in G3 - I didn't actually manage to get the Helmet of the First Paladin during the first 2-3 tries (I never played this game without CP 1.70 or later, therefore the helmet was always in the more secure place for me).

Ohh,yeah,I also discovered the helm in a later playthrough!

The only one I can put my finger on at the moment is finding the outcast who lives atop a rocky hill near Old Camp in Gothic 1 (there is minor exp involved). In fact I remember enjoying Gothic 1/2 so greatly I took a very long time exploring it on my first three playthroughs. I never really wanted to finish the game.
G2 - that guy locked inside the tower near Thorben - I guess the third playthrough (I don't really like to use bows so dex is my lowest stat)
a small plateau with lizards beside the campfire where you meet Cavalorn the first time in notr - the last time i played
The 10th time you go fave fun with Nadja she will give you a bonus ring and a permanent potion :p
the crypt with skeletons in the forest near Onar's farm - second or third time
notr - the magic box or xbox from the top of the tower where Dexter hides - last time

Hmmm, I oughta check those two out. It seems that I know less about Gothic 2 than I'd thought.
I made up the one about Nadja so don't bother with it :D

Oh,another one for me would be the cave in which you need molerat fat.For some reason,it was camouflaged into the ground,so I saw it during the fifth playthrough,I think.
Oh yes, a few more important things in Gothic 2. Yes, I also didn't discover that Moonshine cave. I also didn't manage to get into the Thieves' Guild the first time around! I even found the sewers, locked, but when I tried to join them I was already a militiaman... So I couldn't figure out a way to actually get in since the thieves were less helpful. And also, in the G2 VoM there were so many little gimmicks that I didn't discover the first time around.

long time ago i found 2 bloodflies in gothic 2 or NOTR near xardas' old tower in chapter 3 seeker near there it's over the pool there near the tree you can find +5 dex ring and a bow and wings
and most important i found last playing was if you talk to much in chapter 2 or 3 to Parsival he will get pissed and say: "you have nothing else to do except of chating with me?: and you get 100 EXP :gratz but if you try that in chapter 4 he will say: "ah i know what you up to boy, not this time around" LOL

Try climbing over the entrance of the first cave with bandits you come across. There is a plateau with some meatbugs, lizards and boars (iirc). If you jump from the rightmost part of the plateau you will get on the ledge where you find the first pouch and scrolls, where Cavalorn is.

Loal that thing with the lizzards and pigs above the first bandit cave is amazing. I wonder how i never spoted it it is just like the hidden area in g1's begining. This game never ceases to amaze me. Now that i found it, it looks so obvious its like somebody inserted some new content into the game :D
But im pretty shure that there was just a chasm near cavalorn's fire. Was that little place insertet in Notr? I gots to know :p

There was this book in Gothic 1 -- dunno if it's in the game, I was rummaging through the scripts -- and it said something of a land Artholos or something, where people made magic wine. And another book which had a medieval-ish English poem in it.

Wow played the game (G2) 9 times and still hear about new stuff. Is simply amazing, like the game has it's own A.I. and changes it's form everytime you play it. Last time I played I was surprised to find the nice hermit that lives outside Khorinis on a beautiful mountain top. He greets you, gives you a piece of fried meat and teaches you hunting for free if I remember correctly. Also getting into the city by climbing the wall and surprise Lares was an outstanding surprise.

in the small valley with Lester, near the entrance of the cave,
there always drops a giant rat from the sky, most of the time he dies at impact, but sometimes he survives, heavely wounded.

Yes you can, I once did it by accident, but can't remember how it is done...
In G1 vanilla, you can not brew potions. In the mod "Dark Mysteries",there is an old Alchemist above the abandoned mine, who will brew potions for you after you have done a quest for him.
Yes you can, I once did it by accident, but can't remember how it is done...
When I usually post an answer, I refer to Original Versions of the game, without any Mods whatsoever. So: in Original (or vanilla, whatever that may mean) you cannot make potions.
Unless it's the case Cyclops just stated.
You said "by mistake". I really doubt that. Just try remembering how many potions were you able to make in, say, Kor Kalom hut, or in that cave, on left to the entrance to the New Camp? Because those are alchemists labs; their designs speak for themselves.
Maybe you mistake the quest for Kor Kalom recipe for Dexter with the actual ability of making potions?
I also remember that I was able to brew potions, though. I think I was brewing in the New Camp mage quarters; I had lab flasks and my character did the potion brewing animation on that table, then it seemed to me like I had less flasks and more potions in the end. Might just be a mistake as well, though.
also in the "Golden mod" it's possible to brew potions, maybe you do this in that mod
about the lizard plateau in Gothic II, I found it the first time I played, but only after other times I discover that if you go there in the second chapter, follow the clearing and stay to the left, under some trees you'll find different amulets depeding on your guilds:
Amulet of Agility for militia
Amulet of Life for mercenary
Amulet of Enlightenment for mages
TudoracheMG

It has always been unfair that they should give the agility amulet for militiamen, because they rely on magic and strength, not on dexterity. In fact, only mages get the amulet which is best suited for them.
Anyway, there is another possible way to get the agility amulet, but that only happens much later in the game.
Third time (G2 NoTR) I have found out that there are some goodies behind Xardas tower.
Although I can't say for certain you did not, afterall my PC_Hero likes to attempt to throw apples and other stuff that was taken out, I would suspect you were playing the Golden Mod.

I guarantee you it was pure vanilla, not even texture patches.

In G1 there are alchemy benches that you can "use".NH goes through the motions, and it uses one flask each time, but when you check your inventory afterward there are no additional potions.I tried once putting all my potions into a chest before going to the bench,so there were no potions beforehand in my inventory.after letting him do about 5 or 6 times I stopped and looked in my inventory and there were no potions there. It is just a waste of time, like mining the ore deposits.
the shortbow and arrows under a tree near the lake near xardas' tower
dragonslicer in g2 guraded by the shadowlords
permanent potions in the sleeper's temple on my 2nd playtrough
Havlor's special fish (if that was his name... fish merchant in g2)
that the gardener in the upper quarter of khorinis belongs to the thievs' guild
that the seekers are former members of the brotherhood of the sleeper (because you need to me a mage for that)
This is more of an exploit than a secret, but after I found it it was very useful.
Game: G2, G2G. There is a digger at one of the mining sites in the VoM which asks you take him out of the valley. After you agree, simply teleport to the pass and he will spawn there like magic, in front of the abandoned mine. Quite useful as the path finding AI in the first 2 games is idiotic.

Is it also possible with Diego and that militia guy?
Is it also possible with Diego and that militia guy?
Dunno, never bothered to finish G2G until now, I quit the first time after finishing Jarkendar, so I can't answer that. But theoretically it should work, as I believe both Diego and the militia guy have waypoints at the end of the journey, where they have to say some lines. NPCs in gothics are programmed to teleport to the next waypoint where they should be as soon as they are out of the hero's range.

Yes, you can brew potions in G1 vanilla. Low lvl replenish mana potions to be exact. You must have a flask. I believe there are two to be found in the game. You must have the right mana plant. Forget which one. And maybe something else.....never figured that one out. You go to where the the bandits are processing swampweed in the new camp, and after you've cleared them out, (kill them or chase them off, doesn't matter.) you can use their alchemy bench. This is something you can exploit. Even though you only have two flasks as long as you keep left clicking once you've started the process the NH will continue to make potions. But once you stop he won't make any more. Trust me, I've played G1 50+ times.
Most have mentioned the things I didn't find on the first play through. The old digger in the cave near the Old Camp. Didn't find him until the second or third play through. I didn't find the potions or scrolls behind Xardas' tower in G2 until the second play through. I didn't find the permanent potions in the sleeper's temple until the second time. (Too big of a hurry to get to the Sleeper I guess.) But I did find that area above the first bandit cave in G2 the first time. Mainly because I usually travel with the bow out and I spotted a lizard up there when I was in the valley with Lester. (On a side note there are wargs up there as well.) Didn't find a way to sneak into Khorinis until the second play through. But then again I didn't try to sneak in the first time.
The list for G3 is way too long. All the bugs made it to frustrating to explore the game the way I would have wanted too on the first, second, and third plays. And I only did it three times because I wanted to see the different endings, or I would have stopped on the first play. But with the patched up version I found most things on the fourth play through.

Bilgot worked for me. One thing to try is first teleport to the castle then teleport to the pass and you'll see Bilgot come running up to catch up with you. Kind of like what happens when you teleport away from Biff.

Its possible to enter and to leave the valley of mine in the 1st chapter, but you can't get the minecrawler armor in this chapter, because before the 2nd chapter you can't ask Wolf about this armor.
You can get this armor from Wolf in the 2nd chapter, after you have had the information about it from Gestath (http://mondgesaenge.de/G2ADB/index_eng.htm?data=data_npc_eng.js&id=n_191) in the valley of mines and you have given Wolf (http://mondgesaenge.de/G2ADB/index_eng.htm?data=data_npc_eng.js&id=n_129) 10 minecrawler plates.

The last time I played Gothic 1, I discovered the barrel from the Old Mine. I just saw a barrel that was lightning up, like it was selected. I clicked to see what it can do and the hero just went in. The barrel is on the bottom of the mine, just before Ashgan(I think that was the name).

There was a quest in Gothic 1 with some secret books that you find in some towers full of skeletons ... I can't remember the name of the quest, but I know that it was necessary to travel all around the island to finish it.

WOW!!!!! I played gothic 23 times exactly, now while playing hardcore (notr-Hop) i stumbled upon 2 things i never did before, it all happened in chapter 4:
1. that knight which guards the dungeon, i asked him if he is hungry, and we were talking about food and he told me too meet him at night in the temple (where milten is), there you give him food (as much as you can) and talks like i little child: Yeah! More! More! :D untill you give him lots of food, you get pretty exp and 450 gold
2. you know when you are militiaman, other militiamen tell you ,,For the King", and paladins say: ,,for Innos", now this was pretty wtf. i am a dragon hunter, chapter 4 (killed 2 dragons, went for armor), it was raining, and i was passing by a maid (housewife, probably) and she said ,, what a lousy weather!" now that surprised me:)

It's next to the steps leading to the Circle of the Sun (where you first find the eye of Innos)

Now I remember what I also found recently(not very recently tough), You can get to the treasure of the fire dragon even before you you get to the "chamber" with him, I can't remember exactly where that was nor can I make screenshots at the moment.
Most of the things I've discovered in gothic were in the earlier playthroughs, I really liked to experiment and explore. I even found out that in gothic 1 you can enter the orc cemetery with a bloodfly transformation, I somehow managed to climb up the mountain while as a bloodfly and then I fall of the edge on a specific spot and than I found myself in the orc cemetery, but back that I had no idea it was supposed to be a cemetery, nor you need to enter it to pass the game. Oh and also you can exit the barrier while transformed in a bloodfly.

Must be a honey jar, because IIRC the only other place where you find molerat fat is in the Paladins' ship.

I have issue with another "secret" if it can be called that.
In Gothic 1 , in the Northern mountains - where you search for a focus with Diego - there are a bunch of rogues.
But they are always hostile , even if you are a mercenary or rogue .
I think one of them has a name ?!
How do they fit in the story ? I have never seen a character mention them.
They don't fit. They are left-overs from a quest from the german version of the game.
Those guys were probably supposed to be the rogues that kept robbing the Old Camp of it's supplies. I remember Diego and one of the two New Camp hunters that u first meet saying something about raids against the mine and / or supplies.

Oh and also you can exit the barrier while transformed in a bloodfly.
Whaaaat?!? I'll try it once i start playing gothic I again,i absolutely must see this
@KGS: Those two guarding the sword are Shadow Warriors, the average ones. The noticeabe Shadow Lords in the game are Archol and the one near Onar's Farm, though ,the latter is as powerful as a normal SW heh xD
My first discovery was the underwater cave hidden by the waterfall near the New Camp, just under the bridge that leads to Old Mine. It's there in G2 also.
Hannah, the hotel keeper gave me the key to a chest on a lizard island near the Khorinis harbor. You can swim there, and should be careful with a spike trap inside the island , and there you'll find the goodies.

try getting out just before finishing the game (sixth chapter), barrier will deal you very little damage, while in human form of course :)
it will knock you back but in some cases it won't, or just jump from some mountain out of barrier and before falling start pressing d and a keys on keyboard.
but the simplest way is just to dive in sea

I had been wondering for a while why I could never find the 2nd level 3 STR stone tablet in the temple of Adanos.Found out recently about the 2 side rooms('til now I thought it was just a straight run through the temple. All the doors open when you get near them, those 2 doors needed you to push a button)X-(
Well, it's not really a secret more like a glitch, but when you give the hearts of the golems in Gothic to Xardas' demon, you're left with '' piece of an ice golem '' which when I tried to use required insane amounts of mana (500+) and it really had my imagination running wild the first time I saw it. It turned out it's just a simple thunderbolt spell.
PS: Thanks for the secret Rodimus, I have never even thought of checking waterfalls. And there was a spell scroll and a healing rune in that cave :)

I suppose everyone knows about the "runing sideways glitch". It lets you get pass npcs that will hold u, u can even pass through locked doors. So basicly u can go to Irdorath at level 1 by going pass the paladins guarding the ship, then going through the locked door of the captain's quarters.
And a question:
In Xardas's tower in Khorinis, there is a little storage room sealed off with metal bars, right next to him. Is it possible to get inside without cheats/exploits? It has health potion and a chest i think, why would PB put them there if they cant be used.

The activation brick which raises the door is right on the stove / fireplace wall (upper right corner) in Xardas Tower, the stove next to which you find Heavy Branch.

Yeah, while you're in Bloodfly form, you don't get a push-back effect from the barrier and also those damned bees have enough magic reistance to march through the barrier as if though nothing happens. It's like you don't even feel it strike you with lightning.
Did you guys know about the Nostalgia bonus?
Reward for escort...
You will get a nostalgia bonus when you escort Diego to the pass in the valley of mines. You must escort him till to the small lake where you can also find his money bag.
How can you escort him to the lake since he stops at the entrance of the old mine?
I also didn't know about the switch that opens the gate in Xardas' tower.

You can maneuver past that spot. I don't reminisce it would be extra hard, I reckon it was pretty much just "keep walkin', no talkin'" to get him there. Good idea too, because you get a nice bunch of XP from the orcs up along the path and can pick up Diego's pouch of gold while you're at it. Funny thing, though; Diego comes with you all the way there, but still forgets his little bag of gold waiting just a few metres away! :D

Well, the desire of leaving the accursed VoM may be a good explanation, but it's so atypical when it comes to Diego. :D

I was just 10 or 12 when I first played Gothic 2 and damn, the seekers gave me nightmares. These days, I could just go and think, "Ha! A seeker, better get him from a distance." but back then, I got extra scared when in Irdorath, past the bridge that you bring down by shooting two levers from the other side, one of the damn creeps was behind the left tower of the bridge and suddenly jumped up with that nasty red distortion effect. Good times.

It works with almost every transformation but it even works untransformed in the Swamp Camp. You are not pushed back by the lightning when you do this slow walk through the swamp.

You know what I really loved doing? Mind Control those guys from the swamp and make them commit suicide by running through the barrier, or drowning them in the ocean if they survived.

My most impressive find's.
One thing which amazed me was the blocked cave behind the Xardas Tower in Gothic II, an old secret pass.
I always tried to imagine many things about it, that could connect Valley of mines and Khorinis or two remote spots on the island, but more importantly where would be the other end if I follow up the cave which now is blocked.
In Gothic II there is a chest partially buried in sand on one of the Khorinis beaches, it isn't much to get from it.
In Gothic I (I forgot to look it up in G2) there is an underwater cave next to the bridge with 2 guards and the old camp and those three diggers hanging by the campfire (check the water area, dive in the river next to a small hill), I found it to be empty.
Found a non-cheating way, no terrain exploit to pass the great orc wall, I guess everyone knows Mighty Alien Dwarf xD, and this particular introduced me to the "Easter-egg", until then I never knew about easter-egg's to be found in game's.

Yeah , one of the bandits Brago carries a letter signed by '....D' (Dexter) in which orders are to stop all men who come from the mountains.
How do men come from the mountains? Obvious by a pass, now connecting the shit together that cave was also used by Xardas, he build his tower "in the middle of the road" and blocked the cave literally and ofc practically.
Since Gothic is a freedom exploring world, one can explore the small back area of the tower and find something that looked like a cave but now collapsed/blocked, and a potion + scroll :).
Edit: I think Lester used the same cave to travel to Khorinis so the bandits hiding in caves on the Lobart farm - Xardas tower area.

I was a Paladin in Gothic II in chapter 4 and I went to open the gate of the castle in the valley of mines.
After I've opened it,I went to Brutus (the man-at-arms that trains your strength) and asked him if he's alright and he took the look of a seeker for that dialog (like when you're a fire mage and you talk to a possesed guy) and he told me something like that: "By opening the gate, you have done my master a great service, puny mortal.".
Has anyone seen this so far?

Playing Gothic 2 (of course my 20'th time) I thought why not try to pass 100% Two-handed sword skill by reading the "double blocks" book after the drunken dragon-hunter toughed me to 100%. (of course Lee is a rip-off).
Anyways, my skill was raised to 105%!!! But unfortunately nothing special happened, no damage enhancement, no new surprise move I was hoping for :)

Would that be any differance between 100% chance for a critical hit or 105% chance? The net result is the same: always a critical hit. Also, it can be raised to about 125-127%.

That's not a bug. While it is a bit sad that Myxir won't teach you, the hermit clearly gives you a quest to find clothes for him. And the reward is that he teaches you the languages. You can get farmers' clothes quite cheaply, and if not, leather armour is just 500 gold pieces. What is surprising is that you actually made it this far in the game if you are frustrated so easily. Or was it just a savegame you picked up on the net?

For most people, bugs are more acceptable than design flaws or poor implementation, which is why ArcaniA is so bad. Its very design is flawed.

I don't recall the hermit not shutting up about clothing after you give him the clothes. So, it seems you're contradicting yourself. Even if the hermit doesn't shut up about the clothes, you never said anything about completing the clothing quest. Which made it quite impossible for anyone to even suppose that you completed that quest. Don't assume its possible to read someone's mind over the internet, especially neurotic ones.
Oh, and did you even bother to patch the game? It is possible that the 'bug' may have been fixed. Also, it is impossible to make a bugfree, flawless game. And this particular instance clearly happened because of your odd choice of saving the tablets for later. I don't think that anyone developing the game could have assumed that a player would do something like that AND bitch about it.

I found yet another new thing and to top even that, i actually found it in G1: if u leave the Old Camp through the gate by the collapsed tower, and then walk towards the guarded gate to the Orc lands, staying close to the cliffs, you can climb at roughly mid-way and find a sort of cave, with a guy named Gilbert inside. He says something about having to leave Old Camp a long time ago because of some trouble with Gomez, and gives you 100 or so Exp... I never found him in 20+ playthroughs, only to stumble upon him now :dnuhr:
I found yet another new thing and to top even that, i actually found it in G1: if u leave the Old Camp through the gate by the collapsed tower, and then walk towards the guarded gate to the Orc lands, staying close to the cliffs, you can climb at roughly mid-way and find a sort of cave, with a guy named Gilbert inside. Lol, no dude, didn't find him or if I did I didn't remember so STILL a welcome surprise. And as a "right back at ya" I found the things u enumerated above on my first playthrough :p so I guess it all just came down to luck or thoroughness during exploration - which by the way, I always thought to be one of the STRONG points of the Gothic series... to bad for Arcania though §gn8

On top of Dexter's tower there is a fire bow with fire arrows.
Also, in Jhakendar, there is a portion of ruins in the valley, just before reaching one of the ruins, where a magic bow is standing. But it's separated by a huge gap. Has anyone managed to get there ?

Transform into lurker/shadowbeast or speed potion or one of those rare snapperweeds but it's a really big waste.

If I understood you correctly, the gap you mention might be crossable if you have the acrobatics skill and jump across it. Or maybe you don't jump across it but first climb up something around, I don't quite remember. I think I had to use a teleport rune to get back though.

I think I had to use a teleport rune to get back though.
There are no teleport runes for Jharkendar. And you can't use external world (ie, any world that's not Jharkendar) runes, you'll get a "too far" message or the like.
I may be wrong then. I don't know how exactly I managed to get out of that place. I haven't played G2NotR for a longish time, so I'm not sure of my facts.
Transform into lurker/shadowbeast or speed potion or one of those rare snapperweeds but it's a really big waste.
I agree, despite the fact of having the biggest damage, that crossbow can only use the magic bolts you find, so what, 10 shots and then you can sell it :D
To get there I use the snapperweed/speed potion and a lot of patience and Load Games :D It can be done even without, but it's really hard, to do that I use a small glitch the game has: when you jump JUST when u are at the edge of an angled surface and are about to fall (the edge of the broken bridge in this case), you get sort of "propelled" in a forward direction on a much bigger distance than if you'd used the "regular" jump. ;)
Hellbilly
12.12.2010, 10:34
Transforming into a beast is the easiest way to get out of there, although I did once manage to get out by sheer luck without any potions or anything. Never, ever, ever, ever managed to do it again, though. Also, if you transform into a dragon snapper and miss the jump, you'll survive the fall down.
The only reason to go there is a miniscule amount of XP, the bow and one of Greg's hidden treasures + some plants. Nothing particularly worthwhile, though, so I usually just skip going there.
ICFabian
12.12.2010, 11:42
It's infinitely easier to jump from the road to the other side than the other way around. It took me like 50 loads to get back on the mountain, whereas I got to the bow platform the first time I tried it.
There are stone tablets too in the chests. I got there by jumping down from the cliff above, behind the ruined house. With acrobatics (and enough health :D) you may survive it... getting out is easy, you can just jump across the chasm.

Dexterity does that, I'm not sure if you will get it wile training dexterity from some one, but I know that when you reach a certain amount dex and you drink a dex potion or eat a goblin berry you will gain acrobatics. IIRC it was somewhere around 60, but I'm not sure for night of the raven

It's 90 dexterity, but the point TO 90 has to be earned either by teacher or goblinberry/dex potion. Items that get you to 90 don't count, only base DEX counts.§wink

Unmodded Gothic II Notr:
Being overrun by nostalgia, I reinstalled the game a couple of days ago, only to discover a funny thing at its very beginning:
- Xardas tells NH "...and above all, don't tell any magician. Since I've gone in exile, they have taken me for dead, and that' a good thing too...", but after exiting the dialogue with him, and reengage in it, when NH asks Xardas again about why he shouldn't tell any magician about him, he answers "... they are sure that I'm alive, but don't know where I am, and that's a good thing..." -
It made me giggle. :)

Xardas is an old man, his memory's not as good as it once was. :p
Also, the funniest thing is Gothic 3 is, in my opinion, the Sneak skill.
What do I mean by that? Well, if you go at night to a farm around Trelis, for example, and try using sneak in front of a NPC, they will get alert, and of course we'll hear replica like "You're creeping around like a thief!" or "Hey, you, what are you sneaking around here for?", but this also will alert cows and pigs!
I laughing my butt off every time I see like 3-4 sleeping cows and pigs, waking up and looking at you angrily, all at the same time! Just like they all would say: "Dirty thief!"
Alerting sleeping cows, pigs, scavengers and boars with Sneak skill is by far the funniest thing in Gothic 3!
p.s. No idea why, but chickens seem completely opaque to any NH attempts to sneak up on them, lol.
You cannot get close to animals while sneaking without alerting them because they can smell you. Also, there is another skill which allows you to sneak up to animals but even so, I think they still get alerted if you get too close to animals. As for chicken, they have a sixth sense, which tells them to be alert all the time.

While I agree on the part of wild animals (talking about Silent Hunter), this rule does not apply to livestock.
If you run in front of them at night, they simply ignore you, while using sneak movement, they will get up and stay alert, while keeping their eyes on you all the time.
Probably most amazing discovery I made in Gothic 1 is the fact that NH can craft swords at the smithy!
I doubt there are special blanks for swords, but nevertheless it was a pleasant surprise.
And if you sell those swords ( you can make 20 crude swords in the Old Camp ) you will get a total of 1000 ore! It almost feels like cheating to have that much ore in the beginning.

In fact, if you just keep pressing forward all the time throughout the smithing process (known exploit) - you end up with about 34-36 ready swords. This way, you can't even find enough traders with enough ore to sell everything. :D
Cyclops1953
18.01.2011, 19:54
you can sell back the crude swords to Huno and buy more raw steel, continue making more swords(rinse, repeat).Endless supply of swords for trading.
the only need for ore is for those instances when trading can not be done(training and some armor)
In G3, I was unable to complete Porgan's quest for stoneroots for a long time since I just didn't know where to get the damn plants. I always used to run past the bandits when going from Cape Dun to Montera... so I was pretty surprised when I decided to take the other path for a change and found all those stoneroots just waiting to be picked up. It took me an even longer time to discover that you can sell Lester some special swampweed and that you can find another package on an island just off the coast of Varant.

Also, for the molerat fat, one of the brothers on Akil's farm has it too, but it will only be available if you work them up towards fighting eachother.

You can have Stone improve the Ore Armor on Gothic 1.
Oh really? How do you do that?
You get the Fire Mages' teleporter in Xardas's old tower and then you teleport to the Fire mages' building in the castle. After that you indulge in a bloodbath in the entire castle. Only the Guards will attack you - the Shadows and diggers will flee. When you kill Gomez and loot his corpse, you'll find a dungeon key on him. Then go to the building in which Bullco is. Go towards the large grilled window and turn and go down (not up). You'll reach a dungeon. The doors down there cannot be lockpicked, so remember to get the keys from Gomez. Loot the place, and on opening one of the doors, you'll find Stone. There is no other prisoner down there. Rescue him, meet him at the smithy (the guards, etc won't attack him) and then choose the improved armour as your reward.

Yeah, I know of that thing, only that Stone didn't improve anything to me ... As far as I remember he only speaks about how he was imprisoned by Gomez and thanks you for freeing him.

That is as absurd as saying that Jharkendar is a secret in NotR.
Irdorath is an important and vital part of the main plot of the game,Although NH may not know of it at the beginning,he does learn of it eventually(not accidentally),just like any other location or event within the main story.
When you played G2 for the 1st time and found yourself in Xardas' tower, you could not have known all the other locations or events within the game. You discover them as you go through the game.Finding out about Irdorath is a part of this process. Thus it doesn't count as a secret. It is something you will find, not something you might find( as are all the other things that have been discussed here.
The secrets we are discussing are not essential to the game, some of which have been found only after numerous times playing the game through.
