I just started playing Gothic 3, I'm not very familiar with Gothic series since I played Elder Scrolls, but I already seem to have a problem. Got the quest to kill the orc patrol at the farm and when I got there just took out my sword and killed them. the problem is they keep getting up so I can't finish this quest and the others related to it, freeing the slave and finding the smith for the rebel camp. Any suggestions?

Welcome here §wink

Use the finishing blow while the enemy is lying on the ground: keep the right click pressed and press left click until the hero performs the finishing move. That's for melee with NPCs that are not red (in their name). It allows you to beat the crap out of them without killing them.

Or use magic or ranged weapons, they don't require a finishing move.

Thanks for the welcome and for the advice as well, Larisa. I could be around here for a while asking for advice.

L.E. Although I like strategy games, I've played a few RPGs and you'll never see me play anything but melee. :D

And THAT ain't a bad thing...even though magic can be cool sometimes

I'm just getting the hang of this game and so far I like it, I had some difficulties understanding how to up the character, but little things like roasting beef and making potions or weapons can make a good game - great. So I'm gonna learn some alchemy and how to use a hammer to forge weapons. make my own swords to kill the darned orcs.

So far I've played a few hours, liberated Cape Dun and Montera where I had to kill about 100 orcs and mercs and moved on to do some quests around Trelis. It's not a bad game but I have some issues considering the weapons and armors. Too few, no gloves, no greaves, not too many armors or shields and I haven't seen a helmet/helm/coif yet. I've not played but maybe 15% of it, but the selection of weapons and armors it's very poor. It's bad cause it has a good story and it's playable.
