[G2] [Mod] New Paladin Helmet

How are you people? This is just a simple modification that lowers that mask thing in the paladin helmet.

Requirements:
*Gothic 2 Gold (I guess :p)
*Report version (http://www.worldofgothic.com/dl/?go=dlfile&fileid=122) (you need this to install the MDK)
*The MDK (http://www.worldofgothic.com/dl/?go=dlfile&fileid=88)without raw data. When installing the MDK you only need to unpack animations, i.e. select animationen.

Installation:
Unzip the file and put its content inside *\Gothic II\_work\data\Anims\_compiled

I guess now it should work ;)

I'm still working on the real weapons mod, it's just that I don't have much time lately to do anything but study!
In response to the first two comments, yes, that picture wasn't taken from the game, I didn't have time to take a picture from the game so I just made a render in 3dsMax and went with it. Maybe later I'll add a couple screens from the game. Now, back to my studies! §wink

will this closed helmet applicable to the hero only or to every paladin with heavy armor?
and what do i do with it, just extracting it to the game directory, sorry i'm not good with g2 modification.

This modification changes the paladin heavy armor so it will change every Paladin in the game, not only the hero.
There are two files, and you need to put them in different folders:

ARMOR_PAL_H.ASC goes into \Gothic II\_work\Data\Anims\asc_humans

ARMOR_PAL_H.mdl goes into \Gothic II\_work\Data\Anims\_compiled

If you do not have one of this folders just create them. §wink

I was hoping that maybe there was a mod or something which made G2 DX9c compatible and added shadows, etc to it...

you are asking too much :D, if i am not mistaken, gothic 2 engine can't make you shadows, so it would have to be remade on completely new engine...

I read somewhere that enough data has been released for a dedicated team to make such changes to it's renderer without making a completely new engine....

Not a completely new engine, but you'd have to rewrite the renderer from scratch, rewrite all the file formats which were designed for the old interface, etc. So in short, not very fun, and hardly less work. Me and another user started work on such a project some time ago, but neither of us have touched the code in a while. The last revision from a few months ago is here (http://zenrld.sourceforge.net), but it's a long way from being usable.

It won't work in my case. I have a clean G2 1.32 version installed and nothing changes when i copy the 2 files in asc_humans and _compiled folders.

The instructions were pretty clear but is there anything i failed to do ?

PS. I also tried the armor on a G2NotR game on a different computer...and nothing.

I have a Gothic 2 1.32 version and a 2.7 G2 Gold version...no modstarter for any of these installed games. Hints?

Youl'll need (i didn't tried that mod, just guessing) the g2 addon (2.7), install the modkit from here (after that the mod starter is in the gothic/system folder):

Step by step:

I'm assuming you have Gothic 2 Gold installed.
You need to download the report version (http://www.worldofgothic.com/dl/?go=dlfile&fileid=122) (you need this to install the MDK)
Now the MDK (http://www.worldofgothic.com/dl/?go=dlfile&fileid=88)without raw data.

When you are installing the MDK (it's all in german) you need to select ONLY animationen.

When that is done, download this (http://upload.worldofplayers.de/files6/ARMOR_PAL_H.7z) file, unzip it, and put the file ARMOR_PAL_H.MDM inside *\Gothic II\_work\data\Anims\_compiled

I think that would be all.

Nice! When i first played Gothic 2 as a paladin and just got the heavy armor i wanted to be able to pull the helmet down but couldn't, but finally its pulled down!

Watching several posts of a modder i discovered a beautifull armor retexturized, a heavy paladin armor with closed helm coloured in drak grey and particulars in gold. Is it possible to download it? if yes, where and how? Thank you!!!
I also have another problem: eith the G1 mod Visigothic, i cannot manage to start the installation process cause i can't manage to activate the "install" button if i choose the correct destination folder, please, help!!! Thank you!!

Obtaining what you want may be a two-step process. In this thread, you can find about getting the paladin helmet change, but for the black texture, you'll need to speak to Colmar.

First i install Gothic 2 Gold and patch with Gothic II - IronKeep Community Patch (http://www.worldofgothic.com/dl/?catid=15) ( this give me the texture and fix some bugs and stuff )
Later i follow the tutorial in this topic, and done.. also i download the Fire Robe too. check DRMProd signature to more cool stuff.. same with Real Weapon Mode. §wink
Now i waiting Nature Fury v2 with Ranger and lots news, i think the DRMProd patch are perfect with everthing here.
