Archiv verlassen und diese Seite im Standarddesign anzeigen : New Gold (How do I make it a .VDF ?)
I made this new texture for gold (from a pic of a french gold coin I found on google image search) but I'm not sure how to make it a patch (.vdf) file, so it can change the texture without me extracting all the texture files and replacing it? I have GoMan but not sure if i can save it as a VDF in there.

I looked in the modding section but didn't really find how to make a .vdf ><
@ PC-Hero:
All VDF volumes can be unpacked or created with GothicVDFS tool. You can download it from the author's site:
Version for Gothic (http://www.bendlins.de/nico/gothic/GothicVDFS.zip)
Version for Gothic II (http://www.bendlins.de/nico/gothic2/GothicVDFS.zip)
I have my file saved as a .tex but I can't figure out how to save it with the VDFS tool, the readme doesn't really say anything helpful.
I get an error...

really not sure how to use this tool at all, how do I make a .vdf file? I don't know what buttons to click or anything =P
note the picture says .tga but I've tried it as .tex also
In a builder mode you must specify file name of created .vdf volume and root path to inculde files with correct folder's structure (open in a viewer mode some standard volumes and look for the correct paths). For example, for texture replacements these paths should be:
_work\data\textures\_compiled
_work\data\textures\desktop\nomip
_work\data\textures\fonts\nomip
ah, thanks. What does the nomip folder do exactly? I am a bit new to the way developers set up textures to work, as you can tell.
it successfully created it, but as a .mod file. I'm sure it will work now. I'm still not sure why I can't figure out where the vdf output option is in the program, since you said you could do it with this program.

By default GothicVDFS tool creates .mod files. But you may create .vdf files too: select volume file name, choose file type as "All files (*.*)" and add .vdf extension to the volume name. Or simply rename created .mod file to .vdf later.
actually the vdfs program appears to have corrupted the texture when i originally incorrectly used it, so i will get it working now thanks
---- Edit ----
Yep, works fine now. I had overwritten the .tex file as a .mod file version of itself the first time I tried to guess how to use it. Thanks for the help.

The "----" - Posts deleted and moved to the modding section.
Thanks. Is there a delete button for posts that I can't seem to find?

I don't really understand your question. You can delete your own post when edit it.
