"Decorated Chest" missing key

i found this chest by climbing some stone structures above the cave with a shadowbeast that has an ancesterstone. When i try to open it the NH says: "I need the right key"
where can i find that key? :D

You can obtain key from previous "Repaired chest". All defined below items were linked with "Where is the Guru?" quest:
1. Damaged chest (island near Al Shedim ruins);
2. Fixed chest (cave between Braga and Ben Erai);
3. Repaired chest (ruins of the castle near rebel camp from the north of Silden);
4. Decorated chest (near Baldar's tomb);
5. Guru (sits in the hidden cave under the waterfall near Silden, access via teleport scroll only).

You have to read (double click) the book out of the first chest to start the quest.
As Dimus wrote, the first chest is located at an island near Al Shedim.

i got the most wonderous artefacts from the funny-named schrats :D. Too bad grandpa died :S
btw: is there anything else to do on the Guru's spot besides killing him and annoy the "bugs" ?

You need the newest patch to get this quest? Ive just been on the i island (Atleast i think) and there was just a "solid metal chest" on one of them and a "large chest" on the other..

EDIT: And btw there is no chest in the cave between braga and ben erai.. atleast not without the newest patch.. though there is an old chest in the one with the minecrawlers..

Not the newest patch but a newer one: The quest and also the chests were addes with communiy patch 1.70.

Forsaken Gods is a stand-alone addon, it doesn't play any role for the content of Gothic 3 classic.

No, these chests from the quest are new chests, they aren't in the game without community patch 1.70.

It's enough to download and install only community patch 1.73, it includes all older patches, so it's also compatible with all versions of the game.
