Ok so I just completed Risen as a bandit (bandits suck), now I don't know what should I be, a Warrior Of The Order or a Mage. Tell me your personal opinion of both the classes and how did you feel when you played a warrior/mage. I really can't decide so I'm asking you guys. Thanks for anyone who replies.

I'm beating this game 3rd time, and what I figuired out so far is that the mage way is the best. You still can train all the combat styles BUT you can get rune magic as well. What it means, is you can train as a sword/staff/bow/axe fighter like you were with the Don or a Warrior, but with little cost (15 LP points for seal lvl 3) you get access to unlimited magic usage. Warrior which can summon skeleton is the most efficient way.
Plus, for being in monastery you get armours for free.

To be honest, the factions are bad designed. The only gain for not being a mage is only a smaller maximum combat art level (like 7 not 10). But it's nothing compared to having both crystal and rune magic.

Whats with the fractions? Hasn't this been explained to death on countless threads? I think there is some kind of educational gap somewhere in the teaching of the English language, which isn't my first language by the way.

But seriously I liked playing a warrior most.

I've only played as one of Don's men, but I really liked that path. Why do you think it sucked?

Donkerman, it's called a typo. Lighten up.

A 1/2 is the best fraction.
Oh sorry you mean faction;)

I picked the Dons.
I really like it.
Found most of the quests I've done it The Dons Camp are fun!

From what I read, Mage + axe is the best. So mages faction is the best., They can use melee as well as all magic. Just like a mage in gothic 1 :D

I have only played as mage, i'am SO GLAD that i picked the mages,
Seriously not only because the magic is kickass late game, but the missions for getting accepted are really fun ( Murder Detective LOL! )
( Just like Gothic 1 and 2 )

I really hope is Risen 2 the mages accept you on how many missions you do for them e.g. so i can go quest hunting with a purpose.

Thanks everyone, yesterday I wanted to become a mage, but as I went to the monastery the recruits at Tilda's farm attacked me(I thought it was just a bug, and yes I talked to Stan and I know that is a restricted area) so I ran to the monastery as fast as I could and Pallas said that I didn't valuenteer and that everyone that doesn't valuenteer becomes a Warrior(I wanted mage) so I went along and passed all the tests of the masters and I couldn't choose a mage(I was really pissed §burn)... I will play this game probably 5 more times and I wanna know, if you need to go to Harbour Town first and get called by Carlos, who gives you the task to help the Inqusition in the town and when you do all the quest for the Inqusition, Carlos will get you into the monastery and then you will be able to chose what shall you become (warrior/mage), I really need to know that, thanks for answering :)

NO it's not!
A "typo" is called when you write wrong because of rush. When you say wrong fraction, which is a part of a whole mainly used in mathematics, instead of faction which means a group of person united, based on similar believes, it is wrong education as DonkerMonk said. More clear now, Dragon's Blood?

PS: Just made up the nicknames... purely, intentional! :p

Yes. Without his recommendation, you won't be able to choose path of magic. (which means 4 "for the Order" quests)

Oh! I had no idea that it was required to become a mage! I just followed Jan/that other guy to Harbour town and solved some quests. When it was time, I went to the monastery and they asked me to choose. On a whim I chose mage and apparently that was the correct choice :D

What I don't like is that staff fighting is useless and once you join the Inquisition, it's impossible to max out the "sword fighting" skill.

I like the Inquisition's philosophy, but joining them is worthless because of the staves they use. Swords and shields are so much more fun.

Unlike ranged weps and crystals, more sword/axe/staff skill doesn't bring much difference. I beat the game with only 2 lvls of staff fighting, and it didn't feel much worse that lvl 9 swords which I had previous time. Strength and learning alchemy is MUCH more rewarding.

No where does it mention rushing. Also notice how close the 'r' key is to the 'f' key.

Would it be politically incorrect to call people a grammar nazi here? :p

I finished the game once,as a bandit with axe skills maxed out.
Now I play as Warrior of the Order, focusing on staff fighting and a crystal(still don't know which one).I find it fun fighting with a staff. It's harder cuz your block ain't that great but you have to be offensive and I like that.

Given the fact the internet is full of people calling that a fraction rather than a faction and given the fact that the guy didn't do any other typos and given the fact this kind of mistake is really difficult to be made and not to be corrected as it was in the Thread title, I'd say it is not a typo.

Me and you know its not a typo, but lets give it a rest already. All the little kids out there (and that includes the manual translators) its not a fraction but a faction. It doesn't irritate us that much really if you didn't know that, but please in future make use of the correct word, because you might confuse some people and make them go into a long mathematical discussion. This could lead to the thread going off topic and to be closed instead of us discussing which fract.... ehhh faction is the best.

To be honest the mages and the inquisition are pretty much the same.
Now that doesn't mean that the bandits are better. I really liked the missions in the monestry, but if you already played the mages or the inquisition you should try the bandits next...

I think if there's ever risen2 pb should make more faction related quests even after your acceptance, like for example building a magic staff if you're a mage (magic staves are also something i would like to see).
You would first need a regular staff, then need to find a speciall crystal then you'll need a blacksmith to attach them, to finish the process a group of mages to bless the staff.
They could make a quest for each step.
Ok i'm going really off topic here, but i had to get that idea out of my head :D

I'm playing as a bandit now in my first playthrough, taking it real slow :D It's fun, I'm enjoying it! Got my sword skill up quite high, and I'm finally able to play more offensively. After I finish the game I'll go mage I think, though I may learn some axe or sword fighting...

If NPC mages/order warriors use staves that doesnt mean you should. You can get axe fighting level 10 as a mage/order warrior (although levels 9 and 10 are useless). You can get level 10 sword fighting before you join some faction. Ive played with a pure melee character on my 2nd playthrough and it was a mage with level 9 sword fighting.

im playing mage now but i cannot say bandit sucks ...
the only problem when playing bandit is gold, they dont pay well in quest, specially The Don i hate doing his task, he wont give me free armor .
unlike mage or the order in the monastery there is plenty of gold.

playing bandit is playing with (melee)skill, its like a dance you must anticipate your opponent when he strike you and when you strikes back..

Sorry but the type-O on this thread title still fucks with my mind...

The inquisition is by far the most interesting, so I'll say the mage faction, where you can unlock runes and get the inquisitors quests all-in-one. The Don himself is pretty predictable from the start.
