Archiv verlassen und diese Seite im Standarddesign anzeigen : Arcania Europe Vs US Version
Whats the difference between the 2.
I read somewhere the Europe pallets will look darker and the Us will look brighter.
Does anyone know what they mean.
And which version will look more "GOTHIC"
The difference between them is just the color palette ;)
The EU version is the Gothic one - darker :)
Do you remember G1 or 2 with bright colors ? Don't think so :p
US version is just sick - looks horible with those bright colors, with all those features - minimap, quest tracker, and so on :igitt:

Yeah, I've read that the USAsian version will be all "happy" like oblivion.
While the european version will be more like the gothic series we know.
They made that decision because, supposedly, part of the reason why gothic didn't sell very well in the usa was because it didn't look all "happy" like oblivion and fable.
I also read that the minimap and the like can be turned off rather than pure version differences.
I wonder if you'll get the choose between the two graphic sets when installing it, or when buying it...

There will be an internal option in the "Options" menu for the palette change ;)
You can change it when you want - with just one click :)
And yes, you can disable all those features (minimap, quest tracker and so on)

you mean for the us version has that option? if not, would you recommend ordering the European version.

Well, I think using the EU graphic set will have a strong impact on performance. To me, the whole gritty look seemed a post processing effect applied over the real, happy version of the game. I might be wrong, though:dnuhr:

You got it wrong.
Let me explain again:
If you go to a store and ask for ArcaniA - they won't say: Oh, which one do you want US or EU - NO !
It will be just ArcaniA - The color palette is just an internal option that can be changed ;)
@Maladiq: Hm.. interesting point - we shall see :)

But it also can be the other way around ?
I dunno but i dont think americans like colour they like gritty and dark too even too dark :Gears of War, God of war, the case with diablo 3 that everybody didnt like that it was too bright in the begining, etc etc
But it also can be the other way around ?
Its easier to mute bright colors by post processing than conjure up new shades from muted mess of pixels.
After all, it is a per pixel operation.
So asset textures would be done the "American way" and a pixel shader program just runs some algorithm on each of the R, G and B floatingpoint values as they are insterted the backbuffer.

Hmm... I don't see a point in macking a EU and US ver. why not just make it both bright and dark at he same time. I mean like some places to be bright colorful and in some way relaxing, and other dark and creepy and things like that.
That will be great actualy.
oh, and the ratings will probably be different too.

I like the EU version more(cause i am european lol), cause i would like to feel like in old gothics.
I know local stores wont have both versions,
So ordering the European version is a better option.
But it also can be the other way around ?
Dito DTR, plus the fact that to me the grittyness seemed forced.
E3 happy version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75X_vhsgnTk The colors seem relaxed and natural.
PC Games gritty version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gi852sPBMaw The colors seem forced, like a fog is covering them.
Well, maybe it's all in my head:dnuhr:

Wrong. The game includes both color palettes.
You can change the color palette in menu options. If you don't like US color option then you could change to EU color in the menu while you are playing and you can change it back.

Oh yeah, your are right, there is a more dark grittyness dirty color to it on the Europes ver.
It looks more gothic.

Both videos are old. First one from a German game magazine about the E3 presentation. Second video is from the games convention 2008.

I think I am going to lose my good reputation aroud here, but I must admit that the US color scheme is much more appealing to me than the EU one. The dark colors seem forced, the bright ones seem natural. Come to think about it, G2 was extremely colorful compared to G1. The green trees and the pastures full of flowers, the powerful green forests, only deep in the forest the colors changed.
Honestly, any graphic set, even a bright one can fit with any story setting, as long as it's done with taste. Yes, not even if done right, at least if done with taste.
