Their second album, from 1992. I got this in like '94 or '95 after Smash became a surprising smash hit and chart topper; nobody else was interested in any of their older albums then among my friends, which I considered a huge miss on their half because their two first albums are really good melodic American Punk. Smash is good too, but Ignition and the self-titled album are still better.

After all these years of owning it on tape, I bought it on CD last week. And after years of not having heard it, it sounds very good. Too bad they went in a direction I can't much appreciate with and after Ixnay On The Hombre.

I reminisce he even won an Emmy for one of the songs. Of course, no solo-Ozzy has ever matched what he did with Black Sabbath on their first five albums, but luckily Ozzy didn't ever (apart from Speak Of The Devil) try to ride on the horse of his past fame with the Sabbath, but made decidedly different music as a solo artist.

I know what you mean.I had that same prob a few years ago,when some friends finally convinced me to check out a least one album of theirs.And
that was "Last Fair Deal Gone Down",a progressive doomy masterpiece.From then onwards,i always stated that one needs a few listens to get into Katatonia,probably 2 or 3 times in a row should do the trick.There are out there some bands who's music is just too complex and elaborate to catch your attention from the very start.Katatonia are certainly one of them.Opeth or Porcupine Tree where another 2 good examples for that matter.For me,of course.

There was this news item not long ago of ol' Bob getting arrested for vagrancy because he looked like a hobo. Fair enough that the cops didn't recognize him, as he really did look like a vagrant. But, apparently, later when his identity was verified, the arresting officers said they had no idea who Bob Dylan is.

I mean, come on. How god-damned ignorant do you have to be to not know Bob Dylan at least by name? He's only like one of the the most influential still-active musicians (if not the most influential) and a larger-than-life icon.

He also makes good music. Some of his guitar + song stuff is a bit too minimalistic (but some damn fine), but albums such as the one this is from (John Wesley Hardin) are pure brilliance.

Here's the crazy balls-to-the-wall solos so many Death Metal bands would imitate, the intricate and sharp guitarwork & pounding and rapidly changing tempos of classic Speed/Thrash, and an unmistakable aura of a band who grew up on a diet heavy on Venom. Heavy, fast, angry and brutal. I remember seeing these guys live in, what, '98 or '99? My ears are still ringing from that gig, and that's no joke.

Few kids, or boys at least, from my age group have never been fans of Kiss. It's just one of those things you gotta do to when growing up. Kiss is probably the coolest band ever... by this I mean that despite their music not being exactly stellar always, there's something in the larger-than-life concept that is Kiss that is so endlessly fascinating that it's hard to not love it, with the gross commercialism and all.

So when I heard of this new album, a weird itch started in me. Seeing them live in '98 or '99 is one of those monumental events in my life, and I guess it was echoes from that which made me buy this. And a few songs into the album, I'm not regretting it. I mean, hot damn, these guys sound as good as ever! Ace and Peter may be gone, but Gene, Paul and the new guys (well, Eric Singer ain't new) sure know how to rock it something fierce.

All in all... Kiss rock. If you don't dig them on any level, then that's just sorta sad. :(

One of the finest Cowboy tunes ever, the story of a lone ranger who arrives to a remote town to do "some business with that big iron on his hip", to take out the outlaw Texas Red, a fast drawer at only 24, with "one and nineteen more" notches on his pistol.

It's mainly just acoustic guitar and Johnny's voice, with some backing instruments, and it's one of the finest songs and recordings ever. It certainly is among my top-5 Johnny Cash recordings ever, and the type of Country/cowboy song I like the best: atmospheric, musicall great and with an interesting, suspenseful and well-told story.

All in all, one of those songs and renditions that speak of how good Johnny Cash was as a singer, performer, interpreter and musician. Listening to this impressive box, one of the gems in my music collection, I remember why Johnny Cash is my favourite musician.

Just this one, which is also sold out by now, I believe. Considering how popular they're starting to become, they make ridiculously small pressings of their vinyls. But I'm more of a CD kind of guy anyways, they're much more convenient; I have everything else they've released (except the split with Hank 3, which is vinyl only and sold out long before I even heard of the band) on CD.
