I'm playing G3 with the latest community patch and I was going crazy trying to figure out why the helm of the paladin wasn't where it was supposed to be in the shaman's quarters in geldern. After reading the giant changelog of the community patch, it says that they moved it "to another place". Does anyone know where it is in the new patch?

Take a look one floor beneath in the "cellar" of Grimboll's house :)

Thanks for the fast reply! And yup, that's exactly where it was.

And thanks again - you just put an end to about an hour of frustration.

I don't get why it has been moved there when the quest dialog doesn't lead you there or give you even the slightest reason to go there. Also, how can I get into the cellar if I don't have the "pick difficult locks" skill and don't want to train in it? Seems like the quest is now broken, they might as well have placed it up in a random tree.

Argh. Further, I can't get to the last Old Alchemist's Ring in the treasury room by the North Gate because the door has been made to only open with a specific key, which has been placed in the same cellar as the paladin's helmet. Wow, what an incredibly stupid couple of decisions - maybe the CP should be renamed to CP/CM: Community Mod, as those choices have zero to do with patching the game and are instead a very amateur (and unwanted, by me) mod.

There is nothing of modding. It was a bug that the helmet was in Grimboll's room. Patch back to see the bug with your eyes: the helmet was partly inside the commode it lay on.
Out of the dialogue with Jared:

There's a storeroom in the fortress on the south side of town where they have some valuable pieces. Rumor has it that they're keeping the helmet of the very first paladin there.
So it's all made by the developers, also the locked door.

My bad, I just got frustrated after spending an hour running around thinking that a different room was what he had been talking about before looking online to find out that it was the locked cellar. My dialog with Jared is a bit different, it says:

"There's a storeroom in the fortress on the on the south side of town where they have some valuable pieces."

But there's no mention that the helmet is there.

I had that first dialog.

And I have patch 1.74

Previously, it was too easy.

No, that's because you either learn to be a thief or you can't thieve, that's it. Is that so hard a concept?

Feel free to go pack to patch 1.12. Tell us how you like the game then.

Do you know you reply to a year old post? Do you really think your replies were really needed?
