Gothic 3 launch crash

hey

i haven't played the game in a long time because my previus computer waren't good enough

so i got my new computer with pure epic settings and i thought....time to play Gothic 3

so i installed the game, and launched it......it goes black for a long time and when i hit Alt + Ctrl + Del it says that the game is not responding
so i tried to reinstall and install patch 1.6 still the same problem

computer settings:
GeForce 8600m GT
4 GB DDR2 ram
2.1 GHz processor
vista home basic 64-bit
DirectX 10

please help

I think it is because those "epic settings" like you called it have DirectX 10 on them. I mean , Gothic 3 doesn´t support directx 10 as far as i know so that will probably be the problem :)

well sorry to say this but what a crappy game

it can only run on old computers???
so when i'm finally able to play it, it won't let me???

You can also install DirectX 9.0c. No problem to do that in a parallel way to DX10. And than you can play the game on your computer.

ok tried uninstalling manually deleted the last files that the uninstaller won't delte

istalled it, and DirectX 9.0c
applied patch 1.12
but still not working...any ideas?

Try running the game in XP compatibility mode.

Only one, try it with patch 1.6.

great finally an error with a code :)

when i installed the 1.6 patch i gave me this error:

unable to execute file
C:\program files (x86)\Gothic 3\Gothic3.exe

createProcess failed; code 740

Methinks is a Vista problem and not Derect X's or patch's.
I've said that many times, it's just too early to use Vista, stick with XP for at least a few more months.

I guess that's caused by the save protection of Vista. Could you install Gothic 3 on another partition?

The game works quite fine on my Vista. You only have to know "how" ;)
