So while I was playing through Gothic 1 I noticed some things in the colony which seemed to have importance but were never actually used for anything and I haven't been able to find the answers online.
1. The camp of Rogues by the Troll Canyon, they are hostile automatically and one of them even has a name, Quentin, I believe.
2. The strange black altar I found somewhere in the back of the Swamp Camp.
3. What seems to be an arena, guarded by 2 Orc Warriors, by Cavalorns Hut. Items were even placed there but no quests seem to tie in with it.
4. The big stone pillar on top of the Monk's Monastery where you get the focus with Gorn. I gather you are supposed to knock it down to reach that chest but I couldn't figure out how. Only thing that came to mind was transforming into troll and punching it but that did not work, so I would have to use a well-timed improved acrobatics jump to reach the chest.
I think if you search in some old threads you'll find answers.
Most of these were quests that never made it into the game

The only thing I can answer is about the bandits next to the troll.All the bandits in all 3 games attack you on sight.Same happens in Gothic 2 with the Bandits close to the ice dragon and same thing with the bandits in Gothic 3 in Varant.

Yeah, it makes sense that generic bandits would attack you on sight, but if they give one of them a specific name it would be safe to assume that there's a quest or at least some dialog related to that NPC.
And the pillar on top of the monastery in G1 can be knocked down, but it won't help you at all :D

You're right about the name.Since we're talking about bandits isn't it weird that in all 3 games you can't join them or something?They are there just to attack you!

Well, you can join a Bandits camp in Night of the Raven ;)

Really?In the new world?I played it long ago and all I remember is the pirates and the camp by the scary swamp!Where can you find those bandits?

In the scary swamp camp.Steal the Francis key for the captains hut,enter there and go outside,u meet the Captain Greg he gives u the razor hunt quest,
after u complete it.You can ask for a bandit armour.U have to wear the bandit armour only in presence of bandits.Anyone else will attack you if u wear that armour.

Thank you for the information.I remember the deal with the bandit armor.Greg(what an annoying guy!)would give it to you in order to infiltrate the bandits' camp. :)

First of all u arent suppose to use cheats when u are playing a game.
Second thing u dont get any quest related with.
Third u get all the armors and weapons with one cheat but that doesnt mean u get quests for every single armour and weapon in the game.
So a closed gate is a closed gate.U arent supposed to pass by it.

Your the one whos missing out on content if you dont use cheats to acess every part of the game. Im not saying cheat all the time, but if youve beat it in every concevable way first then its probably a good Idea to cheat and realize the full extent of what the game has to offer.

There was obviously somthing more to this place that they may have thought of implementing but never did. This is an unexplained thing in gothic, just because you cant reach it without cheats doesnt mean it isnt there. ;)

caracterhelper is for getting all the skills if i remember right

Near the start,the first cave that is closed and u find a pickaxe

caracterhelper is for getting all the skills if i remember right
hm, seems every time I tried that cheat in the past its always crashed my game.....odd
and I ment to type insert storyhelper :p
but still that has nothing to do with the abandoned mine.

The only thing I can answer is about the bandits next to the troll.All the bandits in all 3 games attack you on sight.Same happens in Gothic 2 with the Bandits close to the ice dragon and same thing with the bandits in Gothic 3 in Varant.
Actually, the bandits next to the troll won't attrack you if you're a rogue (Ne camp). I tried it, so I know for sure. And the bandits in G2 will attack you, but if you have Notr and get a Bandit's armor they won't do anything to you.
But, other than that, you cannot interact with them. I think that in the Golden Mod for G1 you can complete some quests for them, but I haven't played the game with that mod yet.

no, the thugs with quentin will still attack you even if your a rouge. Just tested it like 30 secs ago

Who gives that quest? I've played as a member of the swamp camp and can't remember getting such a quest from anyone.
The baal up in the laboratory or the on from the weed mixers!!

I remember only the swampweed factory near the New Camp, no quest regarding the bandits in the troll canyon.
I may of course be wrong. I guess there are plenty of people here that can confirm it either way.

How did you manage to do that?I must have spent hours trying to jump across!Finally I had to learn acrobatics from a guy in the New Camp.

No ,hes right the pillar comes down with the sword too ,just click it till it lightens-up then hit it .
As for the Bandits the is from the baals but i don't remember wich one:rolleyes:
The Baals' quest is indeed about the rogues to the left of the New Camp's entrance. The Quentin group is not related to any quest in the original game.
he may have gotten that quest mixed up, jacko and the weed mixers walk to quentin's area once you tell them to leave (if you dont kill them), but other than that theres no relation.
and @specialmind: The pillar doesnt get knocked down with a sword, the only way to knock down the pillar is to stand between it and the ledge, if you get the exact positioning you can knock it down, even though it falls the wrong way :p

they will run from you only if you have already beat them down (not killed)

a lot of the riddles or unused characters or places where already been discussed,so for me only Gilbert and the guy sitting close to the swampsharks in the sect loonies's camp(i don't recall his name right now,damn it!) are characters who could have some quests for the Nameless .Although that guy in the swamp offers his services to the hero,but in the times i've played that guy always ended up being killed by the sharks or i simply lost his trail while being behind me and when i returned to his hut,it was empty.

yeah, it seems like there could have been many more things in G1 than there were. Golden mod attempted to fill most of those gaps and did do a pretty good job at it, but much of it was difficult to follow and didnt offer too many hints as to how to complete the quests. I would be absolutly delighted if sombody decided to create a new g1 mod in the spirit of golden mod, because much more could be done.

it seems like he could have. I always just insert a two hander and some templar armor for him to follow me around in, like my own personal bad-ass bodyguard :D
other than the fact that he runs away from everything >.<

the first or second time i played gothic i tried to sneak near quentin to speak with him, but he say nothing. also i remember he wont atack by himself unless the others make a move, but i'm not very sure about this...
Another strange thing: those skeletons in the old castle in gomez's room? what are they doing there? the only explanation i could find is that the mages summoned them to guard the chest, but they do not look like summoned ones. they have big and powerful swords, also how come they can last forever?

I would say the pickaxe is a little tip to let u know that there is something there (for example, that dude cheated and he got to the loading screen) =P:D
And you resurrected this thread why? The rule of the thumb is: if you've got nothing valuable to contribute to the old thread, leave it there and don't write just for the naught of it.
A simple comment on a ~2 years old post is not good enough.
many things are ,,unfinished" and ,,strange" so as gothic 2 has them.
even some alchemy things are dumb (G2):
healing potion cost 25 gold
but to make it you need meadow knotweed = 100 gold + 2 healing plants = ehm forgot their cost + you need empty bottle (1 gold)
