First of all thanks for the great contest Deep Silver, Piranha Bytes and World of Risen :). But I have to ask some questions first:
1. Where should we post our artworks?
2.Do we have to take the PB's "Garden of heavenly delights (http://www.worldofrisen.de/gallery_pic324.htm)" image and modify it ( ex. add a monster coming out of the runis), OR do we have to create a completely new artwork? Well, I ask this question because I went to the german artworks thread and I got quite confused :D.
Anyway, good luck to everyone :).

It says you should use your imagination and draw a pictures of what could be found inside the ruins.
Too bad I have a pretty good imagination but I suck at drawing :D .

Nice contest for sure...It gives you the opportunity to imagine whatever you want...:)
I think they meant we can draw from scratch what will be in the temple...Not on the artwork like most of the fans did...

#1: Please use only our upload script (http://upload.worldofplayers.de/upload.cgi?) for displaying your images etc.
#2. You are free to use whatever you want. The starting picture is just a reference point (illustration) for all to imagine the situation. What awaits the hero or comes out of the risen ruins?
You can post your works of art/results/findings directly here into this thread.

No one will participate in this contest? Even at the German forum, there are no more than 5 people participating...
For the amulet for Gothic 4, almost 100 people participated...

ok, here's my little story for the contest:
"My feet are frozen. I'm standing there, petrified looking to the black hallow of the temple.
My heart pumps crazy and I feel my own blood shredding my veins.
Suddenly my arms feel the weight of the sword and thoughts of
incertitude gives me the fear of failure.
Am I bold enough to face it? Is my destiny truly the prophet's vision.
Am I the chosen one or just the future skeleton lying there, liberated of worries and giving
seeds for people's tales?
(=>save the game damn it!!)
This is my chance, this is what I unconsciously searched my whole life to fulfill my
spirit's cries, this is what will give me the inner peace and that's why I need to take it as
my own "life stone" which can be my own death or revelation.
(=> enter the temple)
Painful long cries are hearing from the depths of the underground temple.
The atmosphere is vibrating with black energy which can be felt by the spirit; shallow black&white images of remorse during my life are filling my brain. I cannot bear with it as I am trying to focus my mind and eyes into the dark. They told me the stories about the manuscript I should take but not about the traps and beasts which are guarding it. It smells putrid as I forward into the darkness, the air is getting more and more thinner and the cries are louder and more heart-breaking.
Suddenly I hear growling and the ground shakes. I see nothing, though my body feels it coming closer and closer. I throw down the torch and my mind become rational than ever in the attempt of survival instincts. The sword is my extension again and I swing it in the air prepared for whatever can come.

IT is right in front of me and breathing savagely looking at me with the cannibal lust. it's body is full of hair and its muscles are huge and tensed. It jumps toward me with the hand spread wide open. I throw my-self to the right and quickly swing the blade powerfully to its direction. I feel it biting in the beast body and a gritty painful hurl start arising in the atmosphere. My body goes instinctively into the next swings and I hack the minotaur into wide open cuts. Its huge paws gives me a smack-down and I find my self to the ground in disadvantage. Desperately I grope for something in the dusty floor and the cold grip of an old two hander comes to my grasp. I'm back to my feet while the beast still gathers strength after my blows. I spin around and blow with my last powers into its neck direction. Blood sprays allover, my eyes are desperately trying to regain sight and gurgle of the beast throat is filling the aether. I fell in my knees as my body goes into a stress relieving, looking at the beast's body still breathing the last shivers of air. I'm raising again, my killing appetite is not over yet. I raise the sword taking a deep breath and with a victorious scream I thrust his body and cut for good its life.

my ideea:
(hero's thought): There is a surprising amount of light here...was it meant to be like this?
(hero looks to the right): Images of people dancing and having fun... a temple of joy here?
(the hero goes depper inside the temple): All the people are shown dead and impaled! A sacrifice!
(the hero notices rocks on the temple floor and rusty bits of metal that could have been swords. he tryes to light a torch to see better but finds it impossible. He also notes that it has beome considerably darker. He turns around and finds a mate black stone wall stretching across the entire coridor. He is trapped.

A small story about this?
Well i assume that the temple will have guardians...The guardians probably will be some undead that havent seen the sunlight for some centuries because the temple was under the earth. The hero will see the sunlight reflecting on the rusty armor of this skeleton warrior once he enters the temple...
I tried to capture this moment...
The scene is fully made in 3ds max except for the sky that was made in Photoshop,
The skeleton model is around 5.000 triangles. And all the scene is around 11.000

My only critics would be regarding grass. Since this is high poly scene, you could real 3d grass (even if it' simple) instead of '2D' grass. But except that, it's really nice!
I'd make something too, but i'm really out of time. When i have some free time, i might do it though.

so in the end both drawings and storyes can participate in this contest? or only drawings? i've read that i can do more than one so i want to know if it's worth the trouble doing a story

Really nice model man!

Its not a high poly scene by the way...the poly count is for gaming...All this scene has around 11.000 triangles...including the tree branches on the wall that have a meshsmooth modifier applied.

Just think that a single human model in Crysis has around 15.000 polys...and each map region has 2 million...;)

Anyway, thanks to the postponement of the competition, I will be able to finish and upload my little monster picture in a few days. It would be my first image made with Wambo Bamboo graphic Tablet.

Everyone talks about the competition in here, describes his work or comments others works...Why this forum has very few people? I dont have the slightest clue...
Just dont compare it with World of Gothic section that is active for many years.
Remember that there have been released 3 games. Wile here, not even one has been released yet...Once Risen will be released, IMO many users will post here.

I suppose it wouldn't be possible to expand deadline for another month? I need to finish rendering some animation in like 2,3 days, and after that i would really like to participate to it.

That may not be possible. Although the deadline has been shifted back once already, I doubt another extension would fit into the planned timetable.

I would happily participate, but this contest is too open for my taste. Without any boundaries I just don't know where to start. The Gothic 4 contest is okay, you have to make a new version of the well known amulet, a clearly defined, easily approachable goal.

This contest is now closed and no more entries can be accepted. Again, I thank all the participants for their time and effort. :gratz
Now comes the hard part for the jury to read and evaluate all the stories and watch and rate all the many images. This may take some time. ^2^
