Two walkthroughs I'm reading say that I must be a Mage of some kind at the end of the game .. or else. I'm at the Cromanin quest level .. just left the tower after kicking some skeleton butt. Both walkthroughs said I would not be able to do that without a Flame Wave scroll requiring a Mage level. Actually, I had no problem at all as a Merc with heavy armor and Scar's sword .. 1H level 2.

Also one of the walkthroughs says it would take 140 skill points to become a high Water Mage, so I've stayed a Merc. He says it would be stupid to do that. So what is the final word here? Do I have to become a Mage and wear a dress, or can I remain a Pure Warrior with a little magic tossed in for fun?

screw the magic, you have weapons :D

no but seriously - learn two handed weapons. otherwise it will be impossible to beat the game if you don't have neither magic nor two handed weapons. you need the two-handed skill because of a weapon you'll get later in the game.

Stop reading walkthroughs. Gothic is a RPG do what you like. You can finish the game either way. ;)

it's all your choice! you're not forced to become a WaterMage .. only if you want to try a different kind of fighting or if you want to make the nameless hero more "complete", you have the chance to become a mage

however 140 LP are needed to learn all the six magic circles:
1°magic circle - 10
2°magic circle - 15
3°magic circle - 20
4°magic circle - 25
5°magic circle - 30
6°magic circle - 40
and you're not forced to learn all these circles... you can be a mage even with only some of those

I'll do that. I have 20 LP now, and should be able to level up and get 2h-sword soon. Even so, I'll try ending the game with my 1h, but switch if it doesn't work. No way am I going to wear a dress.

:D. Trust me, you will want two handed weapons, just because of the cool weapons you get at the end.

So what, you don't lose your "dress" when big stones cover you, eh? §list
