Who knows the name of the guy who did the voice acting for the nameless hero in Gothic 1/2? Was it Crispin Freeman? If so he sounds totally different. This is really just to satisfy my curiosity.

Grr... I hate that "Go back, NOW!" It's cool with summoned creatures but not that much with Diego and such people.

I don't think he's dead, wikipedia, his official website and imdb don't say anything about death.

I'm not talking about Freeman. I'm talking about the voice actor in G1/2. Still, I don't know for sure.

He should be one of these people:

Voice‑Over Actors (U.S.): Christian Wewerka, Pete Knorr, Dieter Gring, Johannes Steck, Pit Krüger, Peter Heusch, Klaus Bauer, Joachim Jutz, Hans-Jörg Karrenbrock, Helge Heynold, Michael Deckner, Uwe Kaschel, Aart Vedder, Helmut Winkelmann, Bodo Henkel

The guy from G1 and G2 was a genius.:X He had that goofy retard-like voice and togheter with the poor graphics, they made the NH look like an idiot. The perfect disguise for a killing machine.;) The nameless from G1 and G2 reminded me of Jack Sparrow, dunno why. Charming and yet so stupid (I LOVE Jack Sparrow).:p

In Gothic 1 the voice is so so but in Gothic 2 when NH talks to the Dragons its really a "goofy retard-like voice". I can imagine: Drace! I bear the eye of Innos. Ahuhuhuiii .

Indeed, very true... but not all the time sometimes he sounded "smart" , other times he sounded goofy like , others he sonded like thief , sometimes like a smartass , but he always hided someting, like he knew how thing will gonna end, he was like : Ok let's get it over with so I can finaly relax , even when he sonded amazed he was mor like a kidding, a fake laugh,
anyway the Nameless voice actor does Nameless's voice perfect...

They both had strong points. I liked the softspoken voice of the NH in the first two games, but Crispin did make him sound tough. The whole go back, now thing was lame when it came to companions. it would be cool to say in a fight though. :)

All in all the english voice output is poorly made. ;)

I don't know about that, I found the voice acting in Two Worlds and Oblivion to be a lot worse.

The voice acting in G1/G2 at least has personality, and it is more realistic, albeit more goofy sometimes (but maybe this was done on purpose.)

Voice acting in G2 was my favorite and overall it was good. Just that there were too few actors. Like 15 or so, IMO.:dnuhr:

I liked G1 a little better. Diego's voice was good in G1, whereas it got really annoying in G2. Why would they change the voice actor!

Yeah, Diego's voice helped his character. Same with the curmudgeonly Xardas.

lol. I also enjoyed his voice in the first two games a lot better.

Edit:
So maybe its Pete Knorr. He was credited on Gothic I & II. Could it be him?

EDIT: The voice actors for the Nameless, english & german have similar sounding voices, albeit speaking different languages, maybe its the same guy? That'd be awesome.

I don't think so, it's normal to have similar sounding voices in good translations.

When I played Mass Effect as a male I heard smth familiar in the Shepard's voice... :) Then I loaded my old G2: Night of the Raven save and - gotcha - the same voice. :D That guy's name was... Mark Meer. ;)

I also play Mass Effect. I don't really hear much similiarity in their voices though.

Does anyone know of a way to see the faces of the voice actors? Do any of them have websites or even employee shots? I think it would be cool to be able to see what some of them looked like... attach a face to the voice, as it were.

Some of the Gothic 3 voice actors are semi-famous, ie Clive Revill(King Rhobar) was the Emperor in The Empire Strikes Back, also a big Shakespeare actor, Crispin Freeman(NH) if your a fan of anime, I've never seen the show he does acting for, but I read an article bout him on wikipedia.

So play and hear one more time. ;)
Many professional actors can change voice to be good for the role they are playing.
e.g. KOTOR - Bastilla Shan - Jennifer Hale
Mass Effect - Jane Shepard (female) - right, Jennifer Hale :D
The same woman but the voices are heard some... different. ;)
The answer is simple:
in Gothic Mark plays an ordinary guy (thief in his past or safebreaker, we don't know exactly :D ), so nameless hero is not a superman so his speech is simple and not hard.
in ME Mark is a spaceship commander with huge biography (warhero, he saw many dead and retreated) - that man just can't say "Hey, you!" :D His life is army.
So how do you think... could that actor play too similar in the both ways? ;) No. Oh, those actors... :D

Well NH got very good voice in any situations, like fun or sending some guys to a...

I like voices from both gothics like in first,Diego has good voice and Lares horrible but it changed in second.

The NH may have been innocent of any wrongdoing, as implied in Gothic 3.

Also, I would disagree with the fact that the NH is ordinary. He destroyed a barrier, killed dozens of people, went up against a city of orcs, and a bunch of other stuff. I would hardly call that ordinary.

Actually on second thought, I remember slaughtering a bunch of orcs the other day after breakfast. They were worshipping the sleeper in front of my house, and it got really annoying, so I killed them with my two-handed sword. :D
