using spell scrolls

:dnuhr:This is probably a really dumb question , but, I don't know how to use spell scrolls. Do you equip them? How is that done? I tried the control/up arrow and nothing happens. Without a manual I have relied on the forums to get my info on using items, but the scrolls don't seem to work the same.
What is the secret? Please help! I'm playing Gothic 1.

Welcome Gamin Granny !

Select the spellscroll in the inventory and press ctrl(leftclick)+up. You will notice a number appears on the spellscroll( the first scroll will have the number 4, if you do the same on other scroll it will have number 5, next one 6 and so on). Now exit your inventory and press on the keyboard the number that matches the scroll you want to use, focus an enemy and press ctrl(leftclick)+up to use it. The same way you can use runes but they require magic Circles. If you join the mages they will teach you Circles. There are 6 Circles each will allow you to use more powerful runes.

Make shure you have enough mana to equip the spell , some scrolls require more
mana than others.

That did the trick. I had no idea that number corresponded to a key. Nowhere did that get explained. You're a prince!
