What cheats do you use?

I mean everyone uses a cheat once in a while but now admit it :p

Gothic1: First time not even opened marvin once ! second and third a few times xD.

Gothic2: First 2 times god-mode the entire time lol, 3rd time a littles less and last 2 times no cheats except for the f8 key ( i'm lazy and i wanna go to places faster xD )

Gothic2 Notr: first time edited my str and dex and my lvl and lp and god-mode omg ! second time ( this time ) i'm only using the f8 key and if i am waaaay to weak to a kill someone for a quest ( like driving away the militia is hard at lvl 5 ) in that case i use the god-mode ( i am chapter 3 and only used god-mode 2 times xD )

Gothic3: if i ever open the cheat-mode in G3 you can smack me lol, i play G3 blind ! easy crap ;)

Now YOU have to ADMIT you DO use cheats once in a while xD.

The only time I ever used Marvin in G2 was when, in a mod, you needed to do a certain thing at a certain place at a certain time. I didn't want to wait for the time so I used Marvin to jump to that time.

In G3, I was once forced to insert a quest-critical item because the orc carrying it ran away when clearing out their camp, and the item was nowhere to be found.

Never using any cheats with any game, this just ruins a gameplay and makes even the best games trivial, and personally I wouldn't find any enjoyment in such playing.

In my 'playing career' I used only once cheats; 'skipmission' cheat as a beta tester with some custom campaigns for some FPS game (cuz they were poorly made).

Cheats are useful when you don't have enough time to play a game thoroughly and you want to speed things up. Especially useful for hack'n'slash games.

First time I played them through without using any cheats, and afterwards only for fun, I've never saved after using cheats. The only cheat which I use while playing 'normal' is the southpark-cheat to get faster from one point to another if I'm tired of walking the same road again and again

Depends what you mean by cheats.

The marvin-mode is not necesarly cheating, and i think you all agree to that. For example, i used the "K" key in NOTR for faster walking. But, of course, never to get past obstacles or such, just to get somewhere faster. *little spoiler*For example, after i cleaned out the canyon in Jhakrendar of beasts and there was nothing left to do just get back.*little spoiler* I don't have so much free time(and i'm sure i'm not the only one) so i use this key now and then for faster walking.

Godmode and things like that i don't even know how to use it, and i'm not even curious. I found out this forum, and through it marvin and other stuff when i was nearly done with Gothic 2. So, i didn't used it for passing the game. It's kinda bad you use those, this game (g1 actually) was really challenging for me the first time and i was very glad to see the final movie in the game.

And of course after finishing the game for the first time i use marvin for fun: you know, to see how powerful some guys are (e.g. Lord Hagen), to kill all the city and see it all empty and yours §hehe and stuff like this.

Hell yeah, that's when I use Marvin, it's always fun to insert the toughest monsters, armor, weapons, stuff not in the game, and control people.

Hehe, when you get control of a character you can also get influence i mean if you control Lord Hagen and but someone up everybody is going to help you ! xD. Does anybody know how to make immortel people back normal? ( i wanna make Xardas and Pyrokar fight xD.) :D

But that also happens with you if you get far enough in the game. I remember I was a dragon hunter and had a fight with a mercenary, then all other mercs attacked him and in the end even killed him^^

Did it and HAHAH, Xardas and Pyrokar are as strong as eachother( Xardas a little more ) Xardas won but his health bar was empty he had like 1hp left. Really awesome shit xD>. :D

gothic2 notr: i used marvin mode just yesterday, because Lares wouldn't give me the ornament i had to give to nefarius. I asked lares to show me there the landownder's farm is, and the next time i went to him, i didn't have the option to tell him to come with me to saturas.
gothic 3: i used the console to teleport to milten. he was supposed to be at the monostery in nordmar, but because of the bug he remained in Areda. After I talked to him he started going to the monestary as he should. I de-activated the console after that.

if you want to get on faster, i'd recommend the southpark cheat (b southpark b) cause you don't have to activate the marvin mode, you can't go through walls and you can't fall into the ground. I'd even say it isn't a 'real' cheat cause it speeds up all the game, also enemies, so you don't have an advantage (except getting faster where you want to). It's just like tuning the game^^

I only use cheats "for fun" e.g. I like to enter the old camp in gothic1, go into Diego's hut and use marvin mode to insert about 50 trolls in the area, then have fun watching different guards fight them. Or, In g2 fill the harbor area with demons and watch everyone getting slaughtered (I know that I'm evil). I never used cheats in gothic while actually playing the game because I think that it would destroy all the fun involved in "beating" the game.

Never when playing for the first few times, cheats are for losers.

Then, when I finish the game, I start fiddling with the characters (for instance, finish Gothic and when replaying Gothic II alter my stats slightly to match the ones I had when finishing the first game) or collect writing, since I'm a sucker for written material.

Or when I win over people, posess them and make them drop their armour...

I have used the cheats mostly to move fast waypoint wise.

I also have used the cheat code to add arrows if i run out in the wilderness. who wants to walk back to town for stupid arrows.

I used the customizer to add some lps because I felt like the non attribute/weapon/mana magic stuff is stupidly expensive at lower levels.

what I don't understand much is when you cheat code in cool armor or items...that makes finding them or working for them useless.

I am not very good in fighting, so if I do not use cheats, it means too many reloads. Game becomes very frustrating, because I prefer to follow the story, with fighting being simply a means to this end. So I played half of G1 w/o cheats, and after Orc cemetery in God mode. I played G2 and G2 NOTR in God mode only. In G3 I do not have to use cheats, because I play on EASY level, and I do not have too many problems with fights.

VivaXardas, practice your fighting. Nothing is more awesome than getting into a fight with a superior opponent only to beat him. Im playing Gothic 2 NotR right now, and after getting into the last chapter, jsut before I leave Khorinis, with double blocks and one handed sword mastery I can take anyone in the game who is mortal. One of the ways I practiced was actually going into the middle of nowhere, spawn two bandits and se ehow long I can last against them.

The first time I played through, I used no cheats, and it was very rewarding. Anymore, I play seriously, but also use cheats with non serious game saves (Not Godmode either). I play 1 and 2+NotR, and I do use cheats,b ut in a different way. I use a few of the 'cheat' commands to make followers and pets. What I mean is an NPC who follows you and fights with you, or a monster who follows you and fights with you. I don't do this in a real game, and when I do it I only spawn a few followers or pets for fun. For example...Change your guild to 9 for bandit, put on bandits armor, spawn 10 bandit followers, and run into town and slaughter everyone. Sometimes I'll spawn a scavenger or harpie pet to follow me around and I'll roam around town at night and smoke some swampweed. I like scavengers and harpies because they make noise...:D Another use for this is fun training. For example, with the same cheats you could insert a giant sized snapper with super stats, so it's like fighting a t-rex.

The only other cheat I use is toggle time so I know what time it is. I do use Godmode when I'm testing pets/followers in different situations to see if they may attack me for different reasons, like if they see me steal or kill someone.

i played around with these cheats before in order to make a wolf companion for one of the characters i made. problem is that people instantly attacked it whenever we came close, so it was only usefull in cases of hunting (to the right of the light house is an awesome hunting territory :dup: )

giant snapper seems kinda fun, i think ill give it a try once i get g2 back on the comp :D

Thats why you change it's guild to something human. I found that changing it to a sheep works ok, but the pet will attack you if you kill someone, even a bandit. It was weird. In NotR, I just make them pirates, or guild 13. No problems with being attacked, and noone attacks it. The only problem is that the pet has a sort of inventory that doesn't work. For instance, the scavenger or wolf would have a useless inventory that is brought up like any other character, but if you try to drop the raw meat that is there, the inventory image is stuck on screen, but this can be remedied with bring up the status screen. Human followers work much better, as do orcs and lizard men. I have a zen file for all of them. I love my mini lizard men. You cant scale flying creatures by the way...it just puts them higher into the air or closer to or under the ground

Well cheats are made to be used, it's something like the law, law is made to be disobeyed. I have disobeyed the law many times but i will NEVER use any cheat at Gothic not even for fun because it ruins the hole game. I have played and finished all Gothic series with every possible way without using any cheat... The first and last time that i though of using cheat was at Gothic3, i wanted to see the nameless hero holding a Demon's sword which requires 666 strength but i didn't do that because as i already said i don't want to use any cheat... So if there is someone that has equipped Demon's sword i would like to have a screenshot..:D

I didn't use cheats on Gothic 1. for Gothic 2 Gold I use the F8 andK keys to move around more often on my mod playtests and what not, mainly cause I'm doing speed runs and don't feel like walking. The first time I won it I did it without cheats though.

For Gothic 3 I didn't use cheats at all for my first playthroughs, because I didn't know how to turn marvin mode on, and because Gothic 3 is easy. For another playthrough I'm doing, I just doubled my starting stats. That's it really.

1. Whenever I die by bugs.
2. In Gothic 2, I used it to give Biff an orcish war sword. I saw it as a "roleplay" thing and I suppose it's fair to give my sidekick a better weapon.
3. To have fun by possessing people and then going on a rampage, or similar.
4. In Gothic 2, I got some bug when I almost killed an orc warrior, then suddenly he got back to full HP! I was like "no f-ing way in hell" and switched on Godmode, then thwacked him to death with left-rights.
5. This may be the only one which I consider unfair... I was going to the Circle of the Sun when I realised I forgot to pick up the Eye of Innos. Well, I wasn't in the mood to go back and forth - it was cleared anyways, and I wasn't avoiding anything by it so I used a waypoint cheat to go back where I was when I got the Eye.
6. And I got hit by the winchbug in Gothic 1 as well, with Ashgan...:mad:
