I have Nvidia GeForce 7600 GS on my stationary computer 1gb ram and dual core 1,86ghz. I'm thinking of upgrading to 2gb ram.
G3 is running at medium graphics clicks every half hour or half then and I can play several hours on low, but still a bit laggy. If I uppgrade to 2gb ram do you think the game would run smooth on my computer at medium graphics or ain't the graphic card good enough?

Well, seeing as I run G3 more or less smoothly on a GeForce 7300 GT, 1Gb ram and 2,7Ghz with medium graphics.
I'd suggest upgrading your processor instead.
1,86Ghz is a bit on the low side ya know.

Since he says it's a dual core @ 1.86 Ghz, I would assume it's a C2D E6300, if that is the case, it would make no sence at all to upgrade that.
He should, if he knows how to, overclock it.
The E6300 is excellent for overclocking, and should easily be overclocked to 2.6 Ghz without any problems.
You should go for more ram in my opinion.
1Gb is simply not enough for Gothic 3.

I got:
Radeon X700
Athlon 3000+ 1.81Ghz
2GB RAM
G3 runs smoothly

What does a dual core thingy do?
What does a dual core thingy do?
Well as it says :p
It got two cores, which works together on processing the data.
Obviously making it much faster then a single core ala P4 or an AMD Athlon 64.
As you can see here. http://www23.tomshardware.com/cpu_2007.html?modelx=33&model1=881&model2=901&chart=416
Even the E6300@1.86Ghz as he propertly got, is faster then an Pentium 4 Extreme Edition @3,7ghz!

I guess, they they're not as easy to hyperclock.(buffed version of overclocking)

The P4 or C2D?
'Cause I myself has overcloked my E6600(2,4ghz) to 3,6Ghz on air, and it's rock solid.
Core 2 Duo are like the best overclockers ever created.
To be honest, I've never heard about hyperclocking, and I've been on a lot of different hardware sites for quite some time now.
And a quick search on google, didn't give any results.
Where did you hear of the term "hypercloking"?

As I said earlier, you should buy the 1 gb ram, you were thinking of.

I got a 2 Gigabyte, an AMD 64 *2 Dual Core 5000+ and a Geforce 7300 LE.
Gothic 3 runs on RAM , and so it goes well on medium settings for me.
have fun matey

Try 5.2Ghz (http://youtube.com/watch?v=FPSZXmLdPno) from a single processor. (e.g. not dual core or something like that)
As for the term: I coined it myself since it far surpasses most overclocking attempts.

Okay well i've seen that clip before it's awsome but still... As I said the C2D are still better overclockers.
Take a look at this E6700

As you can see it has been clocked to 5.7035Ghz, and it got a normal speed at 2.66Ghz, ergo it has been overclocked with 114%, that is indeed amazing!
But still you might find higher oc'ed P4's, but Ghz doesn't really matter anymore, at least not as much as in the good old P4 days :)
IIRC, G3 uses only one processor, even if you have dualcores.
And to the topic: 7600 GS is good for medium.. But if you want to play with high, you should get a 7600GT or 7800GS (if you have AGP8X mainboard). I have a GT one and the game runs fairly nice :)

You are wrong, G3 do use the two cores, even though it's very poorly coded, so it doesn't use it fully.

G3 works perfectly for me on high in myrthana and varant, but in nordmar, my computer is laggin'...best on low....And it's 1 years old with ATI radeon x700 (512Mb hypermem.), 1Gb RAM and 3,06GHz P4processor...;)
Lolz, i see u know a lot about processors, so can u make tutorial how to overclock my cpu?
And i know that is dangerous but even if explode is no big thing to me. I will buy new computer in December!
And my cpu is:
AMD Sempron
3000+
1,80 Ghz
Thx.
You have to know a thing about BIOS setup, have a good cooling system on your processor, and to do it in small steps and test it intensively.
Try this:

Someone asked me a few weeks ago if the INTEL PENTIUM DUAL CORE E2160, LGA775, 1.8GHz, 800MHz, 1MB LEVEL2, DUAL CORE, BOX it's good for G3 and I don't know what to say to him because it is a dual core but it only has 1.8 ghz.So I'm asking you if its good for G3?
I have that Graphics Card and my Gothic III runs smoothly enough for a computer with 1Gb RAM. ^^ You can see my rig in my signature. It only lags a bit, but other than that, the performance is great.
i have 1 gig ram and a gf 6600 gt and i can play g3 and fallout 3 too, so i dont see whats wrong with these bigger cards.
saying that i have had more problems with g3 than fallout 3, and that surprizes me a lot, can only be down to the coding as far as i can see.
