I love to play Gothic II.
But I really don't like any guild. The priests of Innos are not for me, the paladins have too much discipline and the merc have no magic... no, it's not that!
Maybe I'm to lonely, maybe this is my nature, or maybe I'm too egotist... anyhow, I was VERY curious to see what level I can get guildless.
I'v solve quest by quest, I have kill monster by monster.
I was now 16 level, at only 2000 points from 17th.
And I asked myself: why not more?
Why not Chapter II?
But how?
Marvin?
I don't like to use marvin in something like it.
But, if it's the only way...
But marvin give no solution for this. You could not change the chapters from marvin, or I don't know how.
BUT!
It is one solution and I finally found it!!!
I'm in Chapter II of Gothic II, guildless!!!
And I have a feeling that I will finish the game guildless.
And if I do it, I'l be very, very happy.
Because I love'it that way (guildless) and because I'm the first one I know how made this!

I haven't tested it how far you will come by playing guildless.
But I read that you must chose your guild latest in the 3rd Chapter.
I think you must be in a guild, so that Xardas will go to Sun Circle for magic ritual to give the power to the eye of Innos back.

Welcome to the forum.

I hate to burst your bubble but you are not the first person to reach chapter 2 guildless. I've done it, and I know from other posts that there are many others who have also done it.

I don't know if you've played through the game before or not so I don't want to spoil anything for you but before you go any further you should know you can only go so far guildless and that's it. Also you will not have access to magic while being guildless except for spell scrolls, teleport runes, and one rune of light you'll find later in chapter 2. You will not have access to the best armors, and how you are treated by many NPCs is just as if you were a Merc.

In any case I hope you enjoy your guildless journey through Gothic.

afaik only in G2 classic you can go to chapter 2 guildless in notr hagen tells you u don't have enough experience (if youre not in any guild).

let me guess... you sneaked by hagens guards and got in right?

Thank u very much.
I'm happy anyhow!
I'm the first person I know how did this, but if are others / it was something that I expected to be.
I'm not interested in magic, so it's not a problem that I will not have access to it. I'm only interested in finished game guildless like. And I think are not many who have done it.
I have merely no armor right now, but it's ok with orcs, even shaman or elite! Of course, I must be careful, couse I can't handle more than 4 - and even 4 it's hard. But I bet on making all the quest I can, killing all the monster I can and so on, for a high level.
I am now at 77% 1h with Cord and I'l go with him until 90%. Than I will put more xp in alchemy and in 2h. I don't use xp for dex (exception - 5xp), I use only goblin berries (from black goblins). My strength is 80 now, and I will use save every time I could, for more dragonroots (my dear elite orcs!).
It's very likely that I will use the crowler armor, cause I'l not have access to other better, as far as I now (if u know else, pls let me know).
And I'm very curious about how it will be into the castle, how it will be in Chapter III etc.
I don't know how far could I go guildless, but I'm sure that is far then Chapter III, cause it'l be no problem to go into the monastery, and the talk with Pyro, Vardas and Xard. not depend by guild.

And, btw, how did u manage to go into the Chapter II. I mean, without marvin, or with it?
(I'v didn't know that marvin could be used for it, and I didn't; and I will not use, cause it will destroy my pleasure ;) )

Edit:

afaik only in G2 classic you can go to chapter 2 guildless in notr hagen tells you u don't have enough experience (if youre not in any guild).

Exactly!
But it was not so easy... that damn boxes are very good in stopping you!

How far have you go guildless?

well, u can join any guild and do whatever u want in there! for exemple, u can join the mercs, and still use magic! nothing forbidens u to do that!
and u can be mage and still fight with normal weapons, i remember i was a fire mage, and i had a paladin 2h! i wasnt a great fighter has mage, but that cause i cared more about magic while mage(tipical!)
but i could go mage, and fight only with weapons!
dude, try 1 of the guilds, then ul see if u like them or not, u have difrent quests in each one of them, u are seen in difrent ways too! its cool!
myself, i love the mercs, and i just cant stop being one! the paladins are great, they are very honored soldiers, and are holy fighters, but then they have that obsecion about those who fight without honor(eg: orcs, mercs) and i dont like the militia, actualy, i kinda hate them, and like lee said once, most of them are biger cuthroughs then the mercs!
and the priests are cool cause they live in a monastery, and have theyr own rules, and dont bother with the other factions most, i mean, dont have any fight with the mercs or the bandits, only the forces of evil who are against them!

I think the eye-situation is the point where your journey being guildless ends...as far as i can recall Pyrokar won't give you the eye if you don't belong to any guild?

ziper
01.05.2007, 21:32
First, I have been merc and paladin, and enjoy it. But... I'm more independent, or egotist, how u like. And I'v decide to play guildless.
And, on the other way, I can't remember Pyrokar saying anything about the guild... and I think that I'm remember well.

Btw, now will u try to see if the game could be finished guildless?
I don't know way, but I have this feeling... :)

If it could not be done without marvin I will not.
But I have hopes for better...
The big problem is the armor, because I have no protection against fire, and it make the play very difficult. A fire lizard can kill my man in one fire ball, and the shaman's fire ball are very dangerous too. But I can handle with shamans and I take the fire lizards with range weapon until now.
What it will be, I will see. :)

You can climb the boxes you know... and then just jump at the back of the guard and you're home free :D

I never played guildless but always managed to get to lord hagen guildless (i wanted that ornament in notr). You can only make it untill chapter 3 when xardas asks you to be strong enough. Anyway chapter 2 can be done easily with a few transformation scrolls :p

I'm now at the bridge, close to Castle.
I'v killed all the orcs and monster I have meet.
It was a little harder with the shamans, but it was good until now.
I'm level 18 and I have 10 lp and I'm asking myself if is better to return to Cord for other +5% 1h, or to go to the Castle.
It will not be easy, as I want to kill as many orcs I could and is not so easy to make it when thy are in large groups. But if I make it with the "welcome gang" I think I will make it with the other to.
I'l see.
And I'l tell you the story.

Edit:

But what means "strong enough"?
My man is 18 level now, it have 82% 1h, 80 str (well, with one ring and the amulet, but anyhow...), 335hp, 25 dex and 22 mana (it was 12, but I have +10 now from mushrooms).
I have 10 lp now, and I think I will use for more 1h skill, than I will keep it for minecrawler plate and Crawler Armor. I think that it's the best you can get guildless.

OK, I have finished the orcs around the Castle. It was very interesting, especially without armor. I am now level 21 and I still heard the beauty of "level up" sound. I have 380 hp and the ring of invulnerability and 17 dragon roots (sadly, I could not reload with every elite orc, so I lose some dragon roots, but not more then 3 or 4). I'v meet Diego, the old friend from Gothic I, and now I try to take some goblin berries from the black goblins that live into the small cave close to the Castle; I have only 27 of it and I don't want to spend king's sorrel on dex potion.
I will go to the Castle, for a little talk with Garond, and than I will go to the Onar's farm, for meet Cord and learn 1h until 90. Then I will go to the barrier for visit some orcs. I think thy are there especially for me and I don't want to make them wait too much. After all, I must go to Gestath, and the road is next to the orc's barrier so I must go there.

Strong enough (in Xardas' way) means that you must be dragon hunter or paladin (not militia-mercenary-guildless). As a mage you are always 'strong enough'.

Man you are really into this game. I always get bored when i see the castle sourrounded by 100 orcs. After doing it three times (both chapter 2 and 4) just the sight of them makes me throw up :p

What I HATE to G2 is when I kill all the orcs and the brave paladins are still scared of the orcs that doesn't exist!
Anyway, I finished Chapter II.
I have killed all the monster and orcs, excepting the dragons. But I plunder the treasures of the dragons, only the swamp one still have it. I have the sextant and the dragon egg too!
I finished Chapter II with level 27 and leather armor, with MANNY dragon roots and even much more goblin berries. Of course, it was not easy to reload for every elite orc or black goblin, but it's worth for me.
Chapter III start easy, even that I was a little worried about my leather armor will help me with the seekers fire. But it was all right. I have killed the seekers and monster I could find. A very disturbing bug is that I don't find the king's sorrel in the graveyard behind Sekob's Farm.
I made the quests I could get - not too many if you are guildless. For sample, the mages don't let you solve the quest with that shrines, talking with you like you are mercenaries. Of course, mercs are suspicious about you, even they don't think you are militia (that's good enough).
My nameless is now level 28 and 90%1h and 110 strength.
I will use the Inubis's Tomb to go to 29 level and the Book Southern Defense for going on 95%1h (or I will wait till Chapter IV... I'm not decided).
However, even the paladins have treat me like merc (and the Nameless Hero even spoke like one) I could go to Chapter IV any time and it was a lot of fun.

(A sample of fun:
Because I have no serious armor, the fire lizards have been very dangerous for me. So, I could use the range weapon. But no! I choose other way: fighting with my axe (torturer's axe) and using the terrain. How? I'm going to one fire lizard until it's seeing me, and when it's ready to atack I run until behind a tree or stone. If the timing it's good, the fire lizard will use it's fire on the obstacle and I came to kill it in one or two powerful blows. It's hard, it's working, it's fun!)

seem like we have to deal with another Gothic guru here :D.
Man, why don't you tell the truth ? If you killed every beast except dragons, how is it that you don't even wear a crawlers plate armor, but you are in chapter 3 ?

ziper
10.05.2007, 18:53
I don't know what's your problem, but if you could not do something it's not true that nobody could.
Now, in Chapter III, I'v made the Crawler Armor or, more right, the Wolf did it, from the plates that I got from VoM. But I finished Chapter II without it. And yes, it was hard and fun!
Into the start of Chapter II, I choose the direct way, special for see if I could make the large groups of orcs.
It was very hard, even I was level 17 and 77%1h.
But, I'v killed the wolfs, than I'v kill the giant rats and the goblins and wolfs from the other way, but not entering to VoM.
I'v return down, and killed the first two orcs: level up!
Get back to Cord and got 82%1h, beat Sentenza for fun and food (I love to do it!) and go to Sagitta for healing (protect the potions for VoM).
Ok!
Now start the harder part!
I slowly came to the orcs camp for attracting them. First time were 4, too many for me. Reload and go again. That time were 3 who came. My hero was left with a little hp, but was alive. Potions, eat and save.
I have repeated the strategy and solve with warriors from the camp. One time came a shaman too, but i doge his fireball and take it down.
Then I'v take a very close way to the right stone-wall and take the second shaman form the back. Run to the stones from behind, were was one warrior. The warrior was not a problem but other shaman was there, into the left, with fireball ready. But it could not hit me because of the rocks! I kill him easy, cause when I came after him I was too close for use of magic.
I was only in 5 hp left!
Ok, with 3 Elixir of Health and some food I was fool of hp again.
Keep going! The darkness came with the VoM itself.
May be a not so brilliant strategy, but I choose to wait the light of the day. Of course, until there, I go to the right and take what it was to take.
(and make a few posts here and on the others forums)
When the morning light starts to came, my hero go and kill the orcs, get the Diego's bag etc.
The road is more easier and it was no problem until the river.
There kill snappers, lurkers, wargs, orcs, one shaman orc, one dragon snapper.
I'v eat meat, 6 Essence of Health, 3 Elixir of Health, and all the Essence of Health I'v get from orcs.
Level up again.
Hmmm: to come back to Cord or keep going?
Ok, keep going!
With save and reload I'v attract and kill the orcs from the bridge.
Go to the left, talk with hunters and prepare for the great challenge of the orcs that surround the Castle.
Damn hard!
I'v got to the orcs from the right side, cause are few. I'v attract them. The harder was with the elite orc, but no so hard like in Chapter I. Anyway, I'v reloaded until it give me the dragon root I want. And keep going.
After cleaning that side, it came to a bigger group of orcs, with elite and shaman. Too hard for me now, I'v said!
But it was so sad to go back into the NewWorld without visiting the Castle.
So, I turn to the wall of the Castle, for getting to the ramp. Two orc attack me, but it's finish ok. Than an elite and I save the game and reload until I got my dragon root.
All right, I finally found the ramp and go to the Castle.
Talk to the paladins, Milton, Garond. Free Gorn, solve the meat problem. Gave the sad news and so on.
In to the morning, I'v start to attract and kill the orcs. The ramp is best for it. If you are on it, the orcs could done anything, but you could hit with the bow or crossbow, or even with the sword, if they are to close. Ideally for elite orcs, that I need to give me the dragon roots.
Than I came to the point that I'v showed into the post form 04.05.2007 22:55

Yes. Sadly, u are right.
Where I'v talk with Xardas, it was ok first.
But it wasn't at the circle, with the other two mages.
So, I come back to the tower, and it wasn't there to.
It was nowhere!
I have reload the game.
It was into the tower now, but wasn't talking with me anything.
The sole solution I found was this (for anyone who want to play guildless):
marvin, export hero, go to merc or milita and become dragonhunter or paladin, solve the Xardas complex, import the hero, take the Eye of Innos and keep going guildless.
I'm not sure that works, I will try that evening ;)

good but u could keep it down a little with the details. no need to know how many loaf's of bread u are eating. keep posting your progres

Yes, you are right, but I want too be not doubts...
And thanks for encouraging!

Later edit: IT WORKS! YEEEES, I'M IN CHAPTER IV NOW, GUILDLESS.
And I don't fill it's cheating, as long as I was powerful enough! (It was no difference between befor and after becoming paladin, so it's Xardas crap - no wander from him!)
Of course, I'm sad because I was so happy to play guildless without any marvin! I only hope that it will be no need later for it.

More later edit: ;)
A BIG NEWS FORM GUILDLESS PLAYING AMATEURS: YOU CAN HAVE DRAGON HUNTER ARMOR!
At least this is Jan's promising and asking you for dragon scale!!!
So, if no bug interfere, after killing two dragons u could return to Castle and give the dragon scale to Jan, for a beautiful and powerful dragonhunter armor!

The bad news is that is no way to make Bennet learn you forging magic blades as long as you are guildless. He is afraid, naturally, that you could became paladin after learning it. So, seems that dragon blood vials will be not very useful to you.

Btw, I have killed all the orcs behind the Castle. Like usually, the paladins are trembling with fear for the orcs that are all gone!
My Nameless Hero is now level 31. He have Crawler Armor, 210 strength (including Oric's strength potion and the ring and the amulet), 95%1h (it will be in the final 100% from Bullco), 55 dex, 30 crossbow and a beautiful El Bastardo sword, that I like very much.

I'm posting this as new post because the post before it will become to long and very hardly to read.

So,
What you loose where guildless in Chapter IV is first the dragon eggs quest and twice the dragon armor (medium) that Jan do it only for mercenaries.
Still, Jan will tell you that he could make the armor, but demands 20 dragon scale, like usual. If you give it to Jan, he will tell you to come tomorrow for the armor. When you came, he will ask you for 12000 gold! Even if you have that gold doesn't matter - at least on my computer, Gothic II make a dialog that block you. When Jan said that need the money, pay or leave, no option or dialog will continue.
BUT THIS IS ON MY COMPUTER.
I heard very different behavior of Gothic II on different PC, so could be a bug of mine. You could try yourself and please tell if it was different.

Anyway, you could still use Jan for UNLIMITED XP AND GOLD!!!
As long as you missed some important quest, some plus of xp and gold will be welcome.
The trick is well known, but I must remember it cause it works even for guildless guy.
You sell to Jan the vials of dragon blood. For six, u will take 1200 gold and 1200 xp. For eight, of course, 1600 gold and 1600 xp. You hit Jan and take from him all it have, including the dragon scale (so he doesn't made the armor, was only lies). After Jan is on his legs again, you talk with him and sell the dragon blood vials once more. You could do this many time.
For sample, dragon eggs quest give you like 90 lizard man to fight to. That mean 31500 xp you'l loose, without the swords (it are cheap, but with many of it you could have some money to get, without considering the eggs). With 20 plundering of Jan, you will get even higher xp and much, much gold.
So, is not so useless anyway.

Without Jan "help" me hero was already level 31. The strength was 185 without any item and 205 with it. I have still 27 dragon roots from elite orcs (I'v miss two of them, that I could not separated from the other elite orc) but I will wait.
The dragons have been very easy to kill, with El Bastardo and Crawler Armor that it is good enough for that.

PLEASE HELP!
I forgot to said that in the beginning of Chapter IV, where I come back to see the lizard mans - that I haven't find - at the bridge form Dragomir to Grimbaud, after the Magic Golem - I'v meet 2 orcs and one WARLORD ORC!
I was surprised, as thy must came in Chapter 5 and I never saw them in Chapter 4. But my hero still have the ring and it's that special ring that Lord Hagen will ask for.
Have ever meet somebody these orcs at the bridge? Are they normally there and I miss them in other games I played? Are they a bug or something that triggers where guildless go to Chapter IV?
If someone have any hint, pleas post it here.

alex_x

First of all how exactly did you convice Xardas to come to the circle of the sun? You cheated right?

Second, Jan will sell you the armour. That is he sold me the armour when i was a dragon hunter...

Third that orc warlord near the bridge always appears in chapter 4 regardless of your guild. If you are paladin you can give the ring to Hagen. And if you are merc you can give it to Dar. The warlord always appears in chapter 4. As all the lizardmen (as mercenary) and all the orc colonels/warlords/whatever (as paladin).

ziper
13.05.2007, 13:18
For alex_x

I said two posts before how I manage to make Xardas to go to the Sun Circle.

Jan will not sell you the armor if you are guildless.

If you are guildless, in the beginning of Chapter 4 you will found no lizard man in New World, not even in the VoM if you have already kill them in the Chapter 3.

Thx for the warlord information. I don't know way, but I'v never meet it before. I try to give the ring to Hagen, but was useless. I will see about Dar.

General (about the thread subject)

It's prudy sure that you will have no other armor until the end of Chapter 5 that the leather armor (sold to you by Matteo or at Dead Harpy Tavern) and Crawler Armor (you could have it from Chapter II, if you realy need it, but need a return to Onar's Farm after the meeting with Gestath).
If the leather armor is a very low level one, the Crawler Armor it's much better, even better than a medium militia armor.

For guildless playing amateurs, first thing you must know is to keep all your LP for strength and 1h, except 5 for Bosphor (it will give you money and the solution for the "entering upper quarter" quest). Until level 8 will be very hard and you must use save and reload many times. Kill all the monster you can, in the Akil's farm area and the valley behind Xardas's Tower, for more xp. For strength Carl from the harbor area is very useful in the beginning. For 1h you go to the barracks, the learn will cost nothing to you there. More xp will give you not only Khorinis quests but the killing of the monster behind the town walls to. That are things generally well known, but I post it again cause it works for guildless players (not like others, later into the game, a sample being here, with the lizard mens that didn't shows up where you are guildless - at least thy doesn't on my computer... may be it's a bug, but I don't think so...).

The best trainers you can get are Torlof and Cord from Onar's Farm. As long you are guildless (or mercenaries, of course) thy could train your strength, dexterity (both Torlof), 1h and 2h skill (both Cord) until 90!!! Just to have enough LP!

Why I said again and again about 1h for guildless players? Because with no armor (or a leather one) the speed of hit it's essential. When you hit the attack of the enemy is stopped (even with most of the monster). So, hit fast for less damage received! And that is the 1h advantage.
I'v try both, and at 65% 1h the hero take much more less damage that at 65% 2h.

Guildless, you can go to Chapter IV with level 27-30. It's more that enough to handle with all the monster there. Not even the dragons will make you trouble, if you have the Crawler Armor and stay very close to the dragons when you attack them.

I don't know realy for now, but with nothing received from marvin (item, AT etc) it seems that you could go guildless until the beginning of Chapter 6. What seems to me impossible for now is to have the special sword that is required for the final. But I will see about it.

BlackLizard
13.05.2007, 16:03
I'm interested if you'll manage to get that sword and armour somehow, because that was what kept me wondering all the time because I always thought that's essentiel when you kill the dragons. I mean, one of them is even talking about it, and that makes everything kind of senseless.

Keep us informed 'bout your progress, really want to know if that can work out.

KingOvi

@ziper - Do not give your scales to JAN !, because You can convince the mercenary smith from Onar's farm (I forgot his name:(), I think he needs more scales, but the it's worth it.

If I remember correctly, it have to work. Hope you didn't already gave the dragons scales to Jan :p

alex_x
13.05.2007, 16:42
You can give the scales to Bennet but i still doubt he'll give you the armour. He says sth like ('Ok now i have enough scales to make you a better armour') if you are a mercenary that is.

And you needn't have the best armour/ sword to finish the game. You can kill the undead dragon with any weapon.

I'm wondering what is the undead dragon going to say when you meet him. (He used to say sth about your guild) and iirc also does the swamp dragon.

I'm happily and proudly announce that my Nameless Hero is now in Chapter 5!
Thx, thx!
The astonishing thing is that.... WE HAVE NO ORC HERE!!!
No even one!
No even a scout!
Empty! Empty! Only lurkers (the fan-club can by happy...), lizards, dragon snappers and other beasts!
Lord Hagen is ready for departure; Xardas is gone (I have the pleasure to kill it's demon's!) and Lester give you the letter and the book is opening; the secret door form Monastery is opening too >> seems that the gates of Chapter 6 will let the Guildless Nameless Hero to pass.
I have access to the Monastery Library, so I think it will be possible to found the secret chamber... and the paladin armor!

Other things, from Chapter IV

Using "Jan's trick", my hero have finished the Chapter with level 37. Without it, it will be about level 35, high enough. At that level Ice Dragon don't stand more that 7 to 10 sword hits. I still have the Crawler Armor and El Bastardo sword.
I'v meet the trolls and other beasts, talk with Ur-Shak, save the boy from Fajeth's mine (and him too), talk with the dragons and so on.
Lizard mans, as I kill them all in Chapter II, are no longer, except the snow region, where you can find two groups, one of 4 and other of 5 or 6 guys.
I found 4 more into the ice region but, strange, thy have appear only AFTER I'v kill the ice dragon!
Sadly, Bullco will NOT teach you up to 100% 1h, as I have expected from him. Happily, with 95% 1h, as I have now, it will be no important difference (I have 90% form Wulfgar and Cord, and other 5%, after that, from the Southern Art of Defense Book).
I have learn more hunter skills, just for fun.
I have try many times and many way to take the dragon eggs guest: NO CHANCE!
Anyway, it was fun. I'v get a lot of dragon roots from elite orcs and other 4 goblin berries from the black goblins I found there. With that, was 51 goblin berries that my hero had. But in the Chapter V 31 have been eaten for reach a 131 dex level.

For alex_x

I don't now yet if I could finished the game guildless, but if I do, the UDD will probably treat me like a mercenary - that's what the non-mercenaries NPC's are doing usually. Only the mercenaries treat you like guildless, seems they have better eyes than paladins and mages do.

For Ovi@Moonera

Thx, but I already give the scales to Jan.
And I have it back, from the moment it said I need 12.000 gold, but it don't take my money! I just hit it, and take the scales and everything. It's very interesting that he was still working as I was beating him, so I take a loot of raw steel. I can use it to make self-forged swords and sell it for 30 g (skill learned from Bennet).

For BlackLizard

Thx very much, I'm still working on the "guildless tour", as I like to say.
Yes, the Ice Dragon said that I need a weapon made for myself, the best armor and five people, as you know. But not all the dragons say is really true, is only what thy think it's true! So, I will see if I manage to finished the guildless tour.

off topic, or maybe not

If I could, I would ask PB to remove the blocking demand of Xardas from the final of Chapter III. That demand have no really support. Even Xardas was hostile to idea of going with paladins or mages, and talk nothing about mercenaries. So the demand have no meaning, it's against Xardas style.

You do know that Jan needs a few days to make the armour don't you?

Xardas doesn't want to disclose himself to Pyrokar & Co. as long as you ar not strong enough (dragon hunter, paladin or mage). I mean it would be ridiculous to expect a militia or a mercenary kill a dragon.

What do you mean there is no orc there? It was supposed to be no orc in Khorinis. Only as a paladin there are orcs.

And Bullco never thaught you anything... Maybe that dragon hunter Hokurn can teach you 1h to 100.

Oh and btw you can get to the secret chamber only and only as a paladin. So the almanac will probably teach you how to make the best 1h and 2h swords (merc) and about the armour(although i still doubt you will get it). Btw what reward did Bennet give you when you freed him from jail?

You do know that Jan needs a few days to make the armour don't you?

Yes, I do. But it's one day, not few. And Jan said that the armor is ready, and it's "a masterpiece", like usually with merc. But after that, he ask 12000 gold, Nameless ask "after all I have done for you?", Jan said "But I must live here, take it or go" and after that are NO OPTION or dialog! You can't have the armor. Much more, if you hit Jan, you will find the scales, not any armor, even he said that the armor is ready. And, btw, I have come after one day, after two and after tree, to be sure about the quest. Why did you think it take me so much to finish the game? I made everything I can to solve the quests or to even have them.

Xardas doesn't want to disclose himself to Pyrokar & Co. as long as you ar not strong enough (dragon hunter, paladin or mage). I mean it would be ridiculous to expect a militia or a mercenary kill a dragon.

That is not Xardas.
Itself seems not to be so much conformist and it seems guildless. Much more, it's a magician. So it will be very normally to have the power to know for sure if you are strong enugh or not. Think of that: you could be knight at level 12 or still militia at level 25 or 30! To count the power a magician will be ridiculous to use the ware you have or the guild you belong to.

What do you mean there is no orc there? It was supposed to be no orc in Khorinis. Only as a paladin there are orcs.

Are not lizard man in Chapter IV and no Warlord Orcs or any orcs in Chapter V.

And Bullco never thaught you anything... Maybe that dragon hunter Hokurn can teach you 1h to 100.

Yes, it was Hokurn! My mistake! Thank you very much! I will try to see if Hokurn will teach you guildless up to 100%. Thx again!

Oh and btw you can get to the secret chamber only and only as a paladin. So the almanac will probably teach you how to make the best 1h and 2h swords (merc) and about the armour(although i still doubt you will get it).

It's very possible you to be right. But the game have his style and could have other options. If the almanac will not aloud guildless hero to go to secret chamber, I gues it will not reveal the secrets of the swords and armour too.

Btw what reward did Bennet give you when you freed him from jail?

Shame on me, but I don't remember!
I'm not sure if he give me anything or not. I remember only that he agreed to teach me to forge swords at basic level... but not the condition. After I finished the quildless tour, I will free Bennet again, to see what it will be.

Later edit: I have reload it > Bennet give me nothing; may be a bug, may be that's it.

And i don't like that i cannot take Milten and Diego on Irdorath, and that also means loosing some exp!!!
And about lizard people,it's not thruth. If you are a DH in game appear more lizard men than if you were in another guild. And if you are a paladin, only then you fight the orcish warlords and colonel.

Ok sorry just wanted ot make sure...

Lizardmen and orc both appear in chapter 4. Lizardmen if you are a merc, orcs if you are a paladin and nothing if you are a mage (you get other quests).

Some Lizardmen near Lester and the Orc Warlord by the bridge always appear regardless of your guild.

Nothing more appears in chapter 5.

Hokurn indeed teaches you to 100%.

And Bennet's reward depends on guild. An amulet or sth if you are a mage/paladin and armour if you are a merc.

OK! THE GUILDLESS TOUR IT'S ALMOST FINISHED!

My Guildless Namless Hero is now on his way to ship, for return in Khorinis. The UDD is, of course, destroyed.
Maybe cause I was relatively in the hurry, but I loose until half of the dragon roots that it was possible to get from the elite orcs (sample: when I kill the colonel and two of his bodyguards I have reloaded until I get ONE dragon root, the other two, virtually possible, was lost). So, with Embarla Firgasto and other staff that I found on the ship and on the island and with the potions I made (like a good alchemist!) and with the dragon roots my hero came to 271 strength. Withe two good items, it was 291 strength. The finishing level is 40. The finally armor is CRAWLER ARMOR, who prove itself to be good enough for finishing the game!

later edit: the final level was 41, but only after the killing of UDD.

BUT!

The MARVIN was necessary again!
Even if you do everything, talking with mages, Hagen, Girion etc you will have not access to the ship. Of course, you could bit the guards there, but the crew will not follow you on the ship.
What is to do there?
Buy all you need form Constantino, Sagitta, Ignaz and so on. Came to Andre and export your hero (it was showed earlier how you can do it). Than you must become a militia, go to Hagen and become paladin, and you will have the access you need, talking with the guards. Go to you captain, talk, give the map, take the key. The crew will go to the ship. Drop the key, import hero, take the key and go to the ship. This time the guards will said nothing.
Of course, you could make the import of the ship, doesn't matter.

SO!
For Guildless Tour of Gothic II, you will need use marvin twice> into the end of Chapter III and into the end of Chapter V.
both you need to use the ability of export/import hero and both time the meaning of the stop is beyond my understanding
(first time, Xardas it's incapable to see your true power, twice is no reason to be stopped, as you talk with Pyrocar and the others and make all it's asking to you; but you are not paladin, either merc, so Lee and Judge will not help you and Hagen will not give you any clue)

What you loose in the GUILDLESS TOUR OF G2?
The specific quests.
The presence of lizard man or orc's warlords in Chapter 3 and 5.
The best armors and swords in the game. (You could still get very good 2h axe and Dragon Hunters Crossbow, that from Bospor)
The rain of many that help mercs and paladins from the end of Chapter 1 until the end.

What you win in the GUILDLESS TOUR OF G2?
The strong sense of FREEDOM.
Will be no real boss there, except yourself.
To be on your feet, to learn to know how to manage alone and enjoy it.
A lot of fun. (Like when everyone is confused about you.)
A new perspective.

And, something more, you will learn to be good with very little help, to win with very few staff.

I have kill the UDD with 1h sword El Bastardo!
No magic, no summoning, no range weapon.
(the crossbow was anyhow very useful for the army of seekers and the black magician)

I'm tired, I'm very pleased, I could say even that I'm happy: GUILDLESS TOUR OF G2 it's finally solved!

Thank you!
It was hard but that make the tour MUCH tasty!!!

Strange, but the Undead Dragon seems to know that Nameless Hero was guildless. He said nothing about the guild, just some joke about the mages, like other times. It make me to have a very special feeling, like it was a real talk... really strange.

GUILDLESS TOUR take me between 65 and 80 hours of gameplay... I don't know for sure. Anyway, I'm very happy that I made it. It was almost like I was a beta-tester. It was VERY good.
From the time I spend on this tour, at least 25 hours where fore reloads, to see other options and for getting goblin berries and dragon roots. About it, I had a strange feeling that it's a link between the terrain and the rapidity of the herb finding. With Dragon Island exception, you will have faster the herb (from black goblin and elite orc) if you are on the grass land. The hardest it's on rock, I have here some cases that make me to reload 45-50 times to get the herb. Ok, sounds a little odd, maybe was just my luck.

I don't like magic, so I don't think that I will try the mage tour... I made it with paladin, mercenaries and, the best, of course, GUILDLESS. I will play some reloads and after that I will spend some money on G3. But I heard that could not be played guildless... sad, very sad ;)

Good thing you finally solved it, and in such a shor time.;) Congratulations, you're the first one who ever acomplishes this.

Well not the first, but the only one to give an detailed account. I've done it twice.

Well that's not true, one time I did it as a Templar. I had to go into marvin 5 times. 2 times I went into Marvin to cheat in armor, novice armor, and heavy Templar armor. To keep it balanced I didn't cheat these armors in until I would have had almost the same armor class if I had joined a guild. I role played that Xardas had kept my Templar armor in a chest for me but he had forgotten about it. Gave it to me at just the right time. :) And one time I went into Marvin to cheat in magic circles. I felt that my Templar would still know his magic from G1, and in G1 a Templar could only train to the 4th circle. Of course my Templar in G2 was limited to using only those runes that he found.

Overall it was a fun way to play. And it was nice to have my Templar armor on again. I've thought about doing it that way again as a Old Camp Guard. Be nice to have that shadow armor on again.

Congrats Ziper. I know it was fun.

Thank you, Gor_Na_Drak!
Yes, I know several people who try GUILDLESS TOUR, but all have not resist to use Marvin for some armor, weapon, even status improve and so on.
As long as I know, I am the first who make GUILDLESS TOUR without marvin. The only use was for the fracture of the story line from the end of Chapter III and Chapter V, but that use solve no quest, give no money, no xp, nothing.
My hero have only the leather armor until the first part of Chapter III and after that the Crawler Armor until the end.
He use only the weapons he could get from the game. Behind the Black Troll it's Torturer's Axe, he use until he found El Bastardo. This one hand sword, El Bastardo, was use to kill Undead Dragon too.
He use no magic, except the scroll. The only useful rune for it are the teleport and holly light.
Of course, my patience was great enough, giving to me many goblin berries and many dragon roots, but the GUILDLESS TOUR could be don even without it.
The secret is to grow your 1h skill and or your power, or your dex, with no others option until you are powerful enough to handle with all enemies. If you chose to grow dexterity, you must work with thieves guild for some time (one thing I never did) and found a way to have Master Sword. It's good enough even for the final fight with UDD.

Are many things to say, but I don't know what it's interesting and what not, so I stop here for now.

18.05.2007, 09:33
Thx, but I didn't miss it, I sold it for some good money, cause I choose not to use it.
It's a 2h weapon, and I choose to put my trust in 1h weapons.
As I explain it before, I did it cause every hit you give it's not only damage but in the same time blocking for your enemy. So, faster you hit, less damage you get. And for some one with so little armor like the guildess gay, it's very important, a specially in the beginning, to take as little damage as possible.
That's way I sell almost all two handed weapon I get.

Ah! I almost forgot! I've try both kind of weapons on the same enemy, and it was a very important difference between the damage I take with one respectively two handed weapons.

alex_x
18.05.2007, 13:59
Well you could have used the orc slayer (65 dmg) which you can find in the chest in the piramid. It is the same but you needn't spend lp in learning to forge (iirc you can't get it otherwise) and you can get it easily in chapter 1.

ziper
18.05.2007, 18:46
Well, I have use the orc slayer. But I've try the torturer's axe after I found it, for a very simple reason: the price. That two weapon have the same demands and damage, but the price of the torturer's axe was higher. Why? It seems to me that it's a range problem, or even a rating one. I don't now for sure, but at the same level and skill, you fight better with torturer's axe then orc slayer, and even better with El Bastardo.
All are 65 strength, 65 damage, but it's a real difference in it's efficiency.
So, if you want to go on GUILDLESS TOUR, bet on 1h skill and that's tree weapon. But orc slayer, even it seems great if you have it first time, will not be so important if you kill the Black Troll before cleaning up the maya-pyramid zone.

of course, the Orc Slayer look much better than Torturer's Axe, and the name it's cool too, but the Torturer's Axe is still better; anyhow, El Bastardo look even better than Orc Slayer and it's even better than Torturer's Axe and have a very special name, so it's my favorite weapon from GUILDLESS tour

And, btw, you spend no money or xp for Torturer's Axe and El Bastardo. You found it in the first and twice chapters of the game (you even get some xp and money for having it)

later edit: if I'm remember well, I've take El Bastardo from one's dragons staff (in Chapter II); nice run, nice prey; was not the swamp or ice dragon, was one of the other two.

other thing: on the ship, you have the option to talk withe Bennet about the dragon-egg, but he will not help you (I mean, if you are guildless)

I don't want you to think that I forget about Gothic if I have no post into the last time. No way! I have something to work, of course about my obsession of GUILDLESS TOUR of Gothic II.
And I could tell you now that it's sure OTHER WAY to enter to the Valley of Mines than the gate from the Pass! And you could exit again to!
Now, my hero, in his new GUILDLESS JOURNEY to Gothic II, only 13 level (well, now it's 14), is into the VoM, but INTO THE FIRST CHAPTER!
WITH NO CHEAT!
No marvin, no edit, nothing!
And I am very, very, very curious about two things: dragons could be killed? when the Chapter II will start, the NPC killed will come to live again?
And, of course, I wish to see if it will be any mission there, in the Chapter I, into the Valley of Mine.

Gothic II still have secrets, my friends!
Let's find out!

ziper
07.06.2007, 20:07
That problem it's solved too!

Going to Valley of Mines in Chapter I
It's no cheat there!
Long live the climbing!
I LOVE climbing, so I climb every peak I could from Gothic II. I spend hours and hours on the rocky and peaceful mountains form there. And that gave me the clue for going to VoM in Chapter I!
The solution is not very difficult, but you need a little attention.
If you are in the front of the Tavern u could see at the right, between trees, a high stone brink. There it's a place you could climb on it and could follow it until the Pass. It's a hard moment on the way, where u must keep running even when you fall, cause it's the only way to go further. Other moment it's at the pass. The brink it's ending, you could not climb and it's easy to fall. But you must stay with the face to the mountain and slightly go to the left until the end of the brink. Jump, and you will stay on the rock, but you could not walk further. Could not walk? No problem! Jump! Again and again until you are on solid ground, to the top of the mountain.
All right, when you have watch enough the beauty of the view, walk to the left. The Pass will be under your feet. Great moment!
After that, go to the right. It will be some difficult places, but nothing to much. You will go to the tree from the goblin camp. From there you could kill the goblins with a range weapon. And you could go down there easy with a little care.

Exit from the Valley of Mine in Chapter I
It's no cheat here, to!
You must go to the Pass gate. At the right and left of the gate, you will see two woods beams (btw, with no really sense there; it was normally to be at the other side, but it's good it are there). You could climb slowly both of them, but the left one it's no use. The right one it's you needed for, cause on the top you could still climb on the gate itself and could jump into the front of the gate. Ready! You are again in the New World!

Edit:
What you will find into the Valley of Mines in Chapter I

The beast are the same like in Chapter II, starting with wolfs and rats and ending withe dragons.

The bag of Diego it's already there.

The movie with the dragon attack it's there to.

The rune and other staff are there.

The dead paladin it's waiting for you and the dragonroot too. Of course, the beast, as I have said, are there too.

The Jergan will already stand on the path. The talk will be the same like in Chapter II, even the quest with Oric brother will be there.

The orcs are in the same position and number. The lurkers too.

Udar will talk with you like usual.

In the talking with Sengrath, the Nameless Hero will surprise you, saying that he come from Lord Hegan. Anyway, could be considered as a circumstantial lie.

Keroloth will train you, if you are still under it's maximum level (not my hero's case).

Tandor will talk very nice with you but will give you no weapon or armor, only arrows and bolts!

Dobar will talk with you only about how much he work, Parlaf will talk like usual.

Engor will be the same, the meat quest will be there too.

Gerd will talk nothing with you. Not only about Gorn, he will not say anything.

Brutus will be into the last room at the right, sharpening some blade; he will talk about he's work - including extortion of information from the Gorn - and he will give you the Den quest for training you in strength (until 75, if you are weaker).

Milton will talk about past, expedition and ore; nothing about Gorn!

Garond will give you the same "end" like Gerd, even after you talk with Parcival and Oric.

Oric will start to tell you how good is he and the other paladin blsht; anyway, you could complete here the quest with his brother.

Parcival will talk only about how afraid is he, the brave paladin, about the orcs and dragons; nothing more, but he will send you to Garond who, of course, will tell you nothing.

Diego will be there, waiting, but only thing you could talk with him it's "can you teach me something?" Of course, he could not, because he have much important things to do, like listening the growing of the grass.

Olav will be already death there, with all his staff.

THE DRAGOONS COULD NOT BE KILLED NOW.

And if you start Chapter II, all the quest done in Chapter I and all the beast you have finished will not be replaced.

Have fun!

Hi, you have found nothing, that was really new or unknown (sorry if that disappoints you), but it was new for you and you had fun in exploring, and that's what counts ;)

Regarding the guildless tour:
You don't have to cheat in chapter 5, there are even 2 different ways to get the ship guildless, either you open the gates of the castle in the VoM (then the shipguards will be gone), or you just kill both guards.
So Xardas in chapter 3 is the only occasion, where you have to cheat, and you don't have to make it such complicated with hero export and so on, but just with edit abilities -> guild = 1 then sending Xardas away and then edit abilities -> guild = 0 again.
(alternatively you can make a patch for the Xardas-problem, then you don't have to cheat at all :))
By the way, in chapter 5, after reading the Almanach guildless, you can make an ore dragonslayer.

Hi, you have found nothing, that was really new or unknown (sorry if that disappoints you), but it was new for you and you had fun in exploring, and that's what counts ;)

Maybe you disappoint me, but only because you have not read my posts.

Regarding the guildless tour:
You don't have to cheat in chapter 5, there are even 2 different ways to get the ship guildless, either you open the gates of the castle in the VoM (then the shipguards will be gone), or you just kill both guards.

Wrong! If you choose one of that two solutions, the captain will NOT follow you! I have talk about this in one of my previous posts.
Of course, you could go to Chapter VI without crew, I make it myself, but I was looking for something very close to the normal playing.
(Btw, you could go to Chapter VI from Chapter I if you want, without cheating, just going on the ship and entering the comand room; but that's not the point!)

So Xardas in chapter 3 is the only occasion, where you have to cheat, and you don't have to make it such complicated with hero export and so on, but just with edit abilities -> guild = 1 then sending Xardas away and then edit abilities -> guild = 0 again.

So Xardas it's not the only occasion you must cheat, it's the first one. Of course, edit abilities it's other way of doing this and it's obvious easier. Thanks for it.
(I usualy don't use codes and that's maybe way I missed a such simple way of passing the Xardas block for Guildless tour)

(alternatively you can make a patch for the Xardas-problem, then you don't have to cheat at all :))

I have no idee how to make a patch, if you could make one for this to problems (Chapter III and Chapter V) it will be GREAT!

By the way, in chapter 5, after reading the Almanach guildless, you can make an ore dragonslayer.

I think you don't play guildless, cause you must know that you could not make an ore dragonslayer if you are guildless.
The problem is that you have no way to learn a high forge weapon skill if you are not merc or paladin!
And this is surely needed for dragonslayer.

Lord Sargon
08.06.2007, 11:21
Maybe you disappoint me, but only because you have not read my posts. You don't have to be disappointed about that, because i have read your posts, and i can assure you, that i have played G2 guildless several times years ago, and that everything i said in my last post is definitely right, at least for the german version. Maybe there are differences in the english version, but i doubt it.

Wrong! If you choose one of that two solutions, the captain will NOT follow you! I have talk about this in one of my previous posts.
You just said something about "bit the guards", i was not sure what that meant (maybe just knock them out?), both have to be dead. And you did not mention the castle's gates, in my version both solutions definitely work, maybe you just didn't have 5 crewmembers or the seamap in your inventory at that time, so the captain did not follow.

I have no idee how to make a patch, if you could make one for this to problems (Chapter III and Chapter V) it will be GREAT!I don't have an english version, but if you provide me with the file \Gothic II\_work\Data\scripts\_compiled\Gothic.dat, maybe i would do it.

you must know that you could not make an ore dragonslayer if you are guildless.
The problem is that you have no way to learn a high forge weapon skill if you are not merc or paladin!
And this is surely needed for dragonslayer.
You don't learn it from Bennet, you learn it directly from the Almanach.

By replacing your Gothic.dat with this one (http://rapidshare.com/files/37137377/GOTHIC.DAT.rar.html) the Xardas-problem in chapter 3 should be gone..

Sneak, Pick Locks, Alchemy, Forge Weapons, Take Trophies - learned (everything about it)

As I said, was no cheat use.
I choose the Dragon Hunter for the possibility to learn Forge Weapons, that you could not learn Guildless more than basics (Bennet will not teach you if you are not merc).
In the Chapter IV I use the well-known Buster quest to have more and more xp (and, of course, money, but it was not my goal). I have hit Buster thousands times, again and again, real day after real day. At level 89 I choose to stop, and go on into the Chapter V. The final level was reached after I kill the UDD, but the ten LP where useless.

It's possible to have a even higher level - I was tempted to reach 100 - but it's useless. You have nothing to learn. The only thing you could done with more XP was only to have more mana (Milten teach you until 200!), but for merc or pal is no reason to have so much mana (like is for a priest to have more than 120 str).

One of the greatest interests I have into that journey to the ultimate power of the Nameless was, for me, to have the greatest Strength possible.
For that, I use the save and reload for every orc elite or higher, until all give me the dragonroot I need.
I haved hold for me the dragon eggs, only one was for Bennet. So, I could make two embarla figastro. With the final str potion from the Gate Master area, the strength reach by the Nameless was 324 without any artifact!
Of course, I use all king sorells to make str potions, and none for other thing.

For the greatest dex I have use the same system of save/reload for black goblins, until I got one of that goblin berries that boost your dex with 1. That helps me to reach the great level of 210 dex. If I was interested in dex more than in strength, I think the dex level could be more than 290, maybe even more than 300. But what for? At more than 100 dex and 100% bow or crossbow, you have more that you need. And the master sword is not so great, to deserve to choose dex instead str (it's my point of view, of course).

I'v posted this here because the GUILDLESS tour give me the idea of doing it. And because I haven't find the topic for the highest level on G2... only for G3.

I think there's no max level barrier in G2 and G2 NotR, I see no need for it, why to limit the player on such way; when he'll reach the top, he'll reach the top.

I've been over the lvl 50 in NotR, can't remember the exact number anymore, it was something like 56 or 57, and I didn't beat or kill anyone in the game who didn't deserved to be beaten or killed, the only thing I've done 'out of the schedule' was wiping out the bandit's camp in Jharkendar (they deserve this, don't they;)), so if you're 'cheating' e.g. you try to harvest all possible exp. points available in the game, I think it's possible to go well over lvl 60 or 70 in G2 NotR.

My max level in G2 was 2497 using marvin and I am sure that even if it's a limit, it's so high that doesn't matter.
But I was interested, like I'v already told, about how far can you go without any cheat.
I have already said, too, that I reach 89 level with Buster quest.
For the one who forget about it, let's talk about it.

How can you reach any level of G2 you want, without cheating?

In Chapter IV, are two options, depending of what guild you have choose.
If you are paladin or guildless, you will have the Ian's dragon-blood quest.
If you are merc, you will have the Buster's shadowbeast horns quest .
I never play priest, so I don't know that option.
What's the point (for the one who don't remember) - when you sell dragon blood vials to Jan or shadowbeast horns to Buster, you gain money AND xp!
But, if you knock-down Jan or Buster, you can take the vials or horns and sell it again, to the same buyer, once more. And you can do this until you have the level you need, or until you have become mad. I was almost at the second option when I decide to stop from knocking Buster an playing the rest of the game. My Nameless was at 89 level, but with enough xp to reach 90 level after killing the ice-dragon (the only still alive into that moment of the game).
The rest of the story it's in my previous post.

Yeah, editing with marvin!
But it's enough to type "cheat god" and it will be almost the same. Of course, you will not kill all so easy, but it will be fun to see them hitting you without any chance of victory. If you like it...

Well it's not cheating in a true meaning of the word, but an exploit (a bug if we're more correct), and in my book this is equal to cheating.

If I would practice something like this then I would rather corner some Skeleton Mage, then we can fight; he'll summon skeletons and I will 'harvest' them (and their exp. points). But I don't do such things, this completely ruins a gameplay.

I think it's no true.
First of all, it's no bug there, just a IQ level of AI. Buster and Jan are both mercs, and are not usually making trade. So, there normally behavior is to not be angry if you knock-down them, and not make empty there stash. The stupid think is that thy have so much many and xp to give you and it's no level limit for that quest's. But this is an producer option, not a bug or a cheat.
Twice, you can't do the same thing with Skeleton Mage. I've try this myself and I can tell you for sure that the Skeleton Mage don't replenish his mana. So, after several summoning, he will stand there with no power, even if you come back after a month. I even try making wrong code at the end of the Chapter 6, but after only few try the skeleton goblins and other enemies stopped to come. So, into the Chapter IV it's the only opportunity for choosing what level you need, without cheating.
Into the end, I can say that the beauty of gameplay it depends of everyone's point of view. I never said to a player that like to run to the game - even in Diablo or WarCraft - that "ruins" the gameplay. If he likes that way, it's good for him. Some people enjoy to explore, others to finish quickly, others to gain as much wealth they can, others to make some strange moves or quests etc. If you like it, it's ok by me. In the end, it's a game!

And thanks a lot, Takuu! Now I've uninstall G2 and I'm trying to install G3. I'm really intrigued about it (so different pov's) and I want to see myself how is there.

You can beat that Jan and Buster continuously, and receiving exp.points and his stash right? Not a case with other, 'normal' npc's as I'm avared. So it's a bug I think, devs didn't anticipated this or they forget it. So if you would be able to beat and rob them only once it would be 'in the spirit of the game'.

Srrybut you only have to use marvin once...u can get on the ship using some exploits/cheats... u can go up on the rope and when you get to the captain's room....you run into the edge of the door and you will go through it at some point. But no one will come with you.

I knew it. But I'v try to keep the line of the story.

For BlackSphere> wrong, mate. you can do this with other's merc's too, if they are not sellers. for sample, let's take Sentenza, my beloved one to knock-down again and again. every time you knock him down, you will found on him some food - apple, cheese, ham or steak. if you talk or simulated to talk with him few times, he will have two or tree of it, or all four. you can take it, and let him live, and knock him again. that way you could have how much food you need (or money, if you sell it). of course, I use to knockdown him not for food as for pleasure, because it's such a trash.
Anyway, the point is that the merc's will take your hits like a duel, so thy don't become angry and there staff will still be there (normally). And this is the clue with Jan and Buster. I said that it's an IQ problem, because they don't understand that you sell to them the same staff once and once again. But there behavior it's normal for an ordinary merc.

Black Sphere
30.10.2007, 21:45
Do you get exp. points every time when you beat up Sentenca or any other guy for that matter? No, only the first time when you beat him you'll get them mate. But to beat Sentenza only for a few stakes of fried meat or for a chunk of cheese ... I can't imagine myself to play a game on such way; no joy in it.;)

If you think a bit you'll realise that Jan's and Buster's 'feature' can be calmly defined as an 'error', and it really belongs into category of bugs. Exactly, mercs don't became angry on you when beaten, and I think here's the catch; this slipped past dev's attention, so they didn't additionally scripted Jan and Buster, that it's over with the selling agreements if you beat them down.

sorry i have a question
how many shadow horns u give to buster while u beat him
i was giving him 3 and geting 900 exp and 900 gold each turn i meen beat :)
and i become greedy so i used marvin to import about 7 shadowbeast and kill em and take horns so i was giving him 10 horns a turn and geting 3000 exp and gold per turn, well problem is next : i dont know is it a bug or what but after 2 or 3 turn giving him 10 horns game start to give me 0 exp and just give me the gold 3k is it a bug or its becose using marvin ,i notise that using marvin can bug game ( i passed game few times without cheats , so i know that game is not that buggy )
