Whenever i try and use a cheat with an _, the cheat doesn't work. I know the normal underscore won't work, i got a ? mark with that, so i used the +? option i had seen elsewhere on forum, yet it still doesn't work. What am i doing wrong?

I don't know what kind of keyboard layout do you have. It's possible that the letters inscribed on your keyboard to be different than the keyboard mapping.

The first method: trial and error: press the keys in console, until you find the right one. Use also the shift key to verify different combinations.

The second method: well, it's not a method, but try to tell us what keyboard do you have (qwerty, azerty, qwertz, US, UK, or other language) and if you use regional settings (control panel-regional & language options).
Maybe you use alternate imput languages.

It has always been this way for USA players. The underscore is represented by "Shift + /" even though this should result in a "?" for us. The letters "Y" and "Z" have always been backwards for us too.

looks like a qwert keyboard. I've been using shift and pressing the =/+ (shift for plus) and the //? (shift for question mark) The z and y are definetely switched. I've tried trial and error without much success. I don't really know about the other stuff, though.

This is how the german layout (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/3/36/KB_Germany.svg/540px-KB_Germany.svg.png) looks like. As you can see, the _ is next to the Right Shift key. Try to press that key on your keyboard, no matter what it writes on it.

Do you have some special keyboard? USB, PS/2, wireless? It requires a special driver from a floppy disk or CD?

Go to Start-Settings-control panel-regional&language options-languages-details and make sure you have the default imput language set to English US

It is set to U.s., so i just have to press the underscore button on the german keyboard layout?

Here is a list of all keyboard layouts that Microsoft supports:
http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/reference/keyboards.mspx

If the game internally uses the German layout, the '_' has the same scan code as the '?' on the U.S. keyboard.

In 'Gothic II - Night of the Raven' there is an option in the Gothic.ini to select the German or U.S. International keyboard layout (the game manually translates scan codes into characters - it does not care about keyboard layouts).

I was able to get the "_" character by typing only the "?". It worked just fine then (though I did have to use a fix first so that I could actually see what I was typing into the console).
