For a huge game
Agreed. I wonder what does the demo contain...

From what I hear the demo is pretty vast. It contains the areas of Adrea, Reddock, Cape Dun, and the surrounding countryside between these areas. Pretty large for a demo. I take this as a good thing; it might help make more Gothic fans.
We must also be cautious of making Gothic 3 TOO popular, we don't want future Gothic games to be like Oblivion: "dumbed-down mainstream casual gamer bullshit"

OMG I just realized something when I was reading one post from person who played the demo. Do you know what this demo means? More whiners...
First post I read about the demo and he was saying how the game runs worse than oblivion, and that it's all stuttery... Just the beginning

Try downloading it from gamespot. Their servers are pretty good.
Link to download (http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/gothic3/download_ini.html?sid=6161470&mode=latest).
Also be sure to use a download manager in case their servers restart or anything. I recommend free download manager.

i only taked 1 hour too download, but its prety big for a demo!
anyway, iv allready tried the game, and i can only say this, i hate it and love it!
mixed feelings, what can i say!
my stupid pc can hold g3 prety well, but the lack of virtual memory ruins evrithing!
but the game looks good, iv been playing only a litle in easy, so i cant argue mutch about that boars thing, but the fps is great, the fighting system is 1 word "AMAZING", nothing like the hold ones, but i like it, and the caracter makes a lot of moves, and cool ones! and i love the bow thing, realy powerfull! the prob, is that crashes a lot, first hours of playing nothing serious hapened, but in the last minutes of playing(reason i came here) it has crashed after playing 30 seconds!!! even with the min details!
and i hate the quest system, apears the whole talk, not like before, and that sounds stupid, and not very easy!
almost no1 talks, thats very dum, and some guys only talk too me once, then i can only talk too them after making theyr mission, and apeard allready some traders nameless, how can i know they are traders?! if the nameless guys doesnt talk!!!
im geting used too it, but if continues th crashing way, i will probably give up!
I'd always recommend Download managers with big size downloads, which can resume and validate the file.
Or fileshare applications which i use ,that can do the same, but only if the file is in the networks.
you'r lucky....i'm gonna get a new pc,then i could play gothic 3!!    (i'm obsessed!! §burn    §gnah §cry :( :) :D :p  )aaaaaaarrrrrgggggg,i cant stand it anymore!aaaaarrrrrgggg§gnah §gnah §gnah §cry §cry §cry §cry §cry §cry §cry
wondering if the demo might run on someones computer and mabey not the game since it has less memory.and probably uses less ram.
Hello, I'm new here but i want to say some words about demo.
In my opinion, it's pretty good and large. I've noticed no bugs, no crashes, even no lags at all. I hope I'll no lags in full version too. BTW, if it's neccesary, here is my system configuration:
Pentium 4 3,6 GHz
Saphire Radeon X1800 XT 512 Mb
2 Gb DDR-II;
Gothic 3 runs smoothly on High.

ur a lucky one!
im geting mad with that crap called g3!!!
evri time i play it takes more then 5 min too load, then i play with a lot of lag, and for final, the game crashes a lot, well, i cant stay more then 10 min in the game!:( §gnah
oh, and i forgot something, the saves take aroud 3-4 min!
It means that number of bugs depends on your computer's configuration. We must wait for some optimisations.

my grafic card is a ATI Radeon 9600 250mb i guess!
it should work fine with high, but NO!!!
i have very low free space in my hard disk! does that influence the game?!

HI :)
I just downloaded the demo from one of the official links sites.
I have just one big comment : WOW --- for a great game !
Here's another one: Cudos and applause to Piranha Bytes for making this game. Actions do mean something in this game. I was strutting around the beach for some time. When I got back the persons I needed to see had gone. Sadly I had to start over --- but I wasn't that sad since it meant that I was able to play some more of this great game...
The story isn't that clear to your nameless hero, something about orcs and stuff. The followers have motivations of their own and goes their own way, leaving the players to decide whar he has to do. (in the game). I also like the feature of the nameless one sometimes getting way in over his head.
Graphics wise, the game looks good. (or great). It doesn't have that kind of polishness over it that say Oblivion has (yes, I did it, but is hard not to do ;) ) Gothic 3 has a certain rough feeling over it graphics wise and the main characters look the same as they do in the other Gothic games.
The soundtrack is the best soundtrack I've ever heard in any game so far.
The gameplay is, imo, improved --- mostly combat wise. [I wasn't much for the old system where you used the keyboard and mouse etc. ].
Storywise, it really feels that the player and the avatar/player character/pc could get immersed into a living world where actions do have consequences
and where the pc/avatar needs to bey very careful to whom he speaks and revelas information regarding anything. (or everything). I also, from the start, got the feling that something was very wrong, and that the main plot
will be revealed little by little. I also like the fact that if you so choose you may join forces with the orcs.... (what I do will be my secret - for now)

Just don't get your hopes up, especially about the combat thing.
i am wondering what kind of downloading capabilities my comp has.i have been downloading the demo for 15 hours now and it is 95% done.1.02 G of 1.07 G.is this normal?i have been downloading from gamespot.
Edit:
must have opened my mouth too damned quick.after 15 hours and 95% completion.it stopped and copied files.i can't access or do anything.it says they are not valid or are corrupt.why is this happening?

Ahh! I was really lookin up to this... unfortunately after downloading and installing the demo, the only thing I get to is the piranha-bytes intro picture... then I get an error... I can only blame my 3y old comp for this though... I played and replayed gothic 1 and 2 many many times... I guess Gothic 3 will have to wait till I upgrade my comp...
btw. it took about an hour to download the demo.

None - the Admin is at a loss as to why it displays 8 GB there. Don't worry, it's just the 1GB demo. ;)

or is this one on wog actually the full game and they've mistaken it for a demo!(i'd like it 2 be that way :D)
I have NO IDEA why they put it as having "8GB" in there... That file is exactly 1.02GB in size like all the other demos you find. Heh.
Oh, and by the way, the full game has nearly half of that size(~4GB).
