hi there!

i like risen 1 a lot and i would love to play it again, but one thing is bothering me:
the duration of some animations is waaaaaaay too long, if you just want to do a speedrun through the game.
-digging out a chest from the ground (it takes like 30 seconds and you just sit there...) and
-picking on a fragile wall (which isnt as long as the first one, but im sure its like 15s)
those seem to take like a year. sometimes i just quit playing risen, when the stahlbart's treasure quest comes on^^'

is it possible to skip the digging and picking part and jump to the moment, where the chest is out and the wall is down?
i wouldnt care if it looks aweful.

On principle it should be possible... That means no, at least not with justifiable effort.
Maybe one could just delete the responsible animation files. I have no idea what'd happen. It'd probably take the same time just without showing any animation. ;)

and if you would replace the animations with an "empty" file, which contains a 1 second loop of the hero doing nothing?

If you delete a (XMOT-)file (or replace it with a 0-byte-file) animations are not displayed but the world is still running. My problem is to find out the responsible files!

If you create following files (filesize: 0 Byte, no 1s-loop!) in %localappdata%\Risen\Data the hero won't dig for a treasure (but talk about it first and then take it out of the ground) and he won't pick ore, but take his mining position.

Hero_Stand_None_None_P0_DigGround_Begin_N_Fwd_00_%_00_P0_0._xmot
Hero_Stand_None_None_P0_DigGround_End_N_Fwd_00_%_00_P0_0._xmot
Hero_Stand_None_None_P0_DigGround_Loop_N_Fwd_00_%_00_P0_0._xmot
Hero_Stand_None_None_P0_PickOre_Loop_N_Fwd_00_%_00_P0_0._xmot
Hero_Stand_None_None_P0_CheckWall_Begin_N_Fwd_00_%_00_P0_0._xmot
Note: I know, that DigGround(PickOre)-Anis are for treasures (mining). I assume that PickOre is also used to break walls. Hopefully CheckWall is used while the hero checks the breakable wall before breaking it, what I actually do not remember clearly. §ugly

Good luck :p

Why don't you do it? :dnuhr: Just create the files in the folder named above... Using Win7 you can do it if you rightlick somewhere in the folder and then hit "New" > "Text document". Then simply rename it. (Make sure to deactivate the "Hide file extension"-checkbox in your folder options!)
If you have any problems let me know...

do i need to start a new game, so the changes work?
i just put it in I:\Risen\data, creating new textfiles and renaming them: http://s14.directupload.net/images/130227/t24lpgye.jpg

what did i do wrong? if i dig for the chest in the volcano, all animations still run normally.

I don't really know if you need to start a new game, but I think so.
And I'm afraid your files are in the wrong position. You shouldn't place them in your installation, but in the AppData-folders... Sadly I don't know the correct path for WinXP. (This is XP in your screen, right?) Baltram?

yea this is winxp, cant find the folder anywhere. just found a folder with my savegames and dumps and screenshots... :S

%userprofile%\Lokale Einstellungen\Anwendungsdaten\Risen
(-> the folder that contains ConfigUser.xml)

It would surprise me if it was necessary to start a new game...

that changed someting: now he checks the ground, takes the shovel, puts it away and pulls the chest out of the ground. its somewhat shorter, but not exactly as i expected.
what went wrong? are there further animations for checking the ground and stuff? does anyone know what filenames they got? :P

This is the exact same result I got. As told above "my problem is to find out the responsible files" §wink Have you already tried a wall break?

In minsky mode with debugging keys (http://www.worldofrisen.de/risen/article_272.htm#footer) enabled:

Ctrl+S -> Animations -> Show player entity

This lets you inspect what animation files are used for the hero.

(I guess the .xmot files you are looking for are the ones whose names contain 'PirateTreasure'.)

Thanks :gratz The PirateTreasure-Files I found before, but if you replace them the chest will still be taken out of the ground... but then by ghost-hand :scared:
