Gothic 2 notr Gold mining

Hello All

I have been a reader of these forums for many years and found many answers to my Gothic II & III questions. However having started to replay Gothic II with the Night of the Raven addon I have come across something which I have not found an answer to.

In the addon region (Jharkendar) within the gold mine there are elevated gold mining points. How do you reach them? They are located in the large cave section which you must clear minecrawlers out of befor turning it into Bloodwyn's grave (muhahahaha). The other character Garaz then enters the cave and says "we haven't used ladders since the mines." So are these gold reserves meant to be inaccessible as part of the joke?

If there is a way to get up there can you also apply it to the roof of the buidling adjacent to the teleports where Saturas is often found? I can see the treasures on the roof but have not found a way up yet.

yeah, good question. I've never found access to that chest as well (I do not use cheets, otherwise I could just jump over there)
and for the first part of your question - those gold lumps I suppose are not meant to be reached. further more I was always thinking about ore lumps which you can find in VoM, Khorinis caves and as well Jharkendar. if you have a pickaxe, find one of those lumps, start to proceed and the animation is on, but it never ends unless you stop it - and no ore in your pocket :dnuhr:

I think that you can't reach the gold veins above.
Once I used the sneak + K button cheat to reach them but they were not interactable, so they're just there to tease you :D.

And about the chest - it's got some random stuff but I never managed to reach it without cheating :rolleyes:.

I have clambered all over the rocks there and I have not found one of them to be selectable, as you said. Guess that once again Gothic has dragged me in and kept me occupied lol. Great games.

I don't claim to be an authority, but here are my thoughts.

No, you cannot reach the gold, it is only there to tease you. The "joke" is just as you said. In G1 there were ladders all over the mines. However, they weren't well coded and a few of the ladders were too short, some wouldn't let you reach the top, and some would cause you to slip and fall, taking a lot of damage or even dying. Thus, I think they decided not to bother with them at all in G2. The joke is that while you got sick and tired of them in G1 and there were too many, now you actually want one and there are none to be had.

The items on the roof, if it's where I think you mean, are perfectly accessible. I've never had to cheat to reach them. Perhaps you could include a screenshot to verify where you mean.

Well, you know already that when you are in MARVIN mode you can use the K button to, sort of, teleport yourself through walls, doors, etc. You can even enter Jarkhendar early like that.
However, if you press K while sneaking you cannot fall. You'll hover in mid-air. If you exit sneak mode you fill fall.

No, climbing on the rocks won't help you to reach a roof of the house. But if in the right corner of the house where the wall adjoins the rock, to throw out a big mushroom accurately, the hero can climb on it, then be tightened and climb on a roof. Unfortunately, I don't remember author and source link of this screen shot:

With a similar method you can get through Khorinis city wall to the right of the southern gate and to climb on a watch tower on a dam in the former New camp.

It depends on how you want to play. Yes, you can reach the roof by climbing the mountain behind it. Using the mushroom is an exploit, which some might not care to do.

Yes that building is the one I am talking about. Thank you for your advice, I never knew of the mushroom exploit...Super Mario meets Gothic lol. I have tried to climb the mountains but I have not been able to get to the roof, so I will try the exploit. I am curently in Chapter 3 and I uderstand the addon area gets repopulated in Chapter 4 (?) so I will go back then and pick up the loot (hope it is worth it!).
