SpellForce 2 - Shadow Wars

Its been a long time since I open a thread here or even post and my first thread, after a long time, guess what is not about gothic :D , its about a new game from Phenomic also as Gothic publish by JoWood and its called SpellForce 2 Shadow Wars.
I played it for a couple of hours and I can freely say its great. Its much better than a Order of Dawn and its add-ons, previous releses from Phenomic. Visualy it looks beautiful and all mistakes concerning interface and everything else has been corrected and gameplay is now flowing like a ship on a windy sea. Story as always before is great and I know I'll have a loot of fun playing this game.
You should play this game while waiting Gothic 3

I played the trial of Spellforce but it didn't bought it. It hasn't sth special where I though "WOW".
So I am not interested in Spellforce two instead of the female darkelve hero ;)

SpellForce is a game that should be played for some time so that you could become her fan :) SF 2 Shadow Wars is much better than SF Order of Dawn and I enjoy while playing it. It will surely keep me busy for some time while waiting for G3 :)

I tried the demo but for some reason the graphics only looked good in 3rd person view of the main hero. (black landscape for the win!)
I played a lot with the video settings to no avail.
It also plays very differently from Spellforce 1. (Where do I find that altar to start my base? Oh wait, that's right, they removed those.)

Well, just now i played demo, and it's not bad, but i can't say that for me much better than Order of dawn. Even some things for me were better in Order. Sure, mounted units look nice, and also I liked these talks, when they are "just chatting" on the way.:D

Well i installed it, played it a little and exited the game.
While i had alot of fun with Neverwinter and enjoyed playing it Spellforce is a great combination of RPG & Strategy. Actually i am amazed how instant you can jump from the Strategy game through the RPG type one.
But it is a part Strategy game and the RPG part has a feature wich i hate at RPG's : parties. While i love to play the unique hero who saves the world type and sometime i even like to identify myself with him i don't like having companions through the main-quest.
Neverwinter had such a feature but the other characters were just mercenaries who didn't really had a great importance to the main-quest.

Spellforce is very similar with Dungeon Siege( i finished 1 and 2 but i didn't liked them too much and i didn't enjoyed playing them like other games) and i can say that i don't like it. Honestly the graphics look good(the game works better than Oblivion on my PC) , it probably has an original story and a great gameplay but it's not my taste ^^

Probably. Considering that i played only a few hours my opinion can't be trusted. In any case...i will play it. Just not now :) probably when i won't have more important things to do :p

By simply playing the demos of the games you can clearly see it's very different. >_>

Cool, a SpellForce 2 thread already opened. Sorry I opened another one. Didn't used the 'Search' function.

Well I have a question: I am at the stage in the story where I got stuck. I took the portal from the 'Gate of Swords' to the magnet store field. I established a small camp and try to defend it. The thing is...the enemy, having multiple bases quickly (5 minutes) overwelms me. I got out of many battles victorious in SF2 but this one is just...§burn...

Please, no story hints apart of the strictly necessary ones...Thank you!
