Hello everyone
I am a Fire Mage in the 4th chapter of Gothic 2. I use the Lightning spell as my main source of damage and at this point I have a problem finding mana potions. After killing a huge lot of orcs in the valley of mines I had no mana potions left. I checked all the vendors I know, like: the castle vendor, the monestary, Zuris, Constantino and I've bought them all! I've learned to create mana potions but I think it's a boring and dull task. Also I am out of resources (could farm for more).
Is there a place to get easy access to mana potions? I know that the vendors restock when going to the next chapter (I have two dragons left to kill) but I actually need the mana now. I am lvl 27 if I remember correctly with 260 manapool.
Thanks for the help,
Calenhad

Even in Chapter 1 when potions are not that plentiful,
go the monastery and climb in from the roof,
(Gorax has a free key to get out the front gate:D)
now with a bunch of fire nettles (?) Neoras will brew you
mana potions for a very nice price, well, that's one
easy way of getting more early on.
Also he'll brew speed potions, too, if you have snapperweeds,
and those are very handy:)

Neoras will brew me potions for only 10 gold, but also requests the needed ingredients.
Since I know alchemy myself I can do it more quickly on my own!
And I'm already in chapter 4 being a Fire Mage, so I bought all the potions I could get from merchants.
Have you bought all potions from Salandril, Sagitta, Engor, Isgaroth. They have some potions for sure.

I've banished Salandril to the monestary so he is no merchant anymore. I went to Sagitta's cave and indeed she had some potions left, but I've used them all up again.
Engor has no more left and I'll check Isgaroth but I don't think so. Worst case is that I'll have to farm for more spirit plants to create potions. :(
I just need to be able to kill the last dragon and start the next chapter to make the merchants refill their wares. If I could only find enough potions for that task. :)
I've let Gorn help me to get to the tower where the last dragon is already.
Here's a list of merchants that have some mana potions in chapter 4:
Ignaz - in the harbor district
Salandril - in the Upper Quarter
Zuris - in the marketplace
Gorax - in the monastery
Isgaroth - between the monastery and Orlan's tavern
Sagitta - in her cave near Sekob's farm
Engor - in the castle
Sengrath - he's dead, but if you didn't buy all mana potions from him in previous chapters, then you will find some with him (Quest "Lost in Darkness")
I hope that helps. I wrote all (I think) the merchants who have mana potions to offer.
Also, you should plunder all the chests in the monastery. You will find 15 mana potions (half of them - mana elixirs).
And one more thing... if I'm not mistaken, minecrawler mandibles refill all your mana, but after you use a certain amount of them, it will have no effect. The only merchant that can sell it is Lutero. You can learn it from either from Grom or Gestath.
Don't forget that you can brew some potions yourself! It may be boring and take a lot of time, but it's the best way to get mana potions (and the slowest).
Guys, don't forget about addon traders, who can sell some healing and mana potions: Cronos (in Khorinis and Yahrkendar), Fisk, Miguel, Scatty and Juan.

Hey thanks man!
I didn't plunder the chests in the monastery yet (I was a pristine novice back then, now I'm a fire mage and have the authoriteh to do so! :G) The only merchant I didn't check is Isgaroth; most likely already bought them. I have no mana plants anymore to brew potions, I stopped taking plants a while ago because I had potions anyway (bad choice...). I'll try that as last choice if I can't kill the last dragon to make it to to the 5th chapter.
I think that I've killed all the animals a bit too early in the game. I've cleared most of the whole Valley of Mines and the mainland using only my spells. I'm lvl 30 now at chapter 4. So maybe the game isn't really built to be able to do this. I have 10k gold too.
I'll report back later,
Calenhad.
PS: I play vanilla.

I went back to the monastery and checked the chests in the evening. It seems like the mages are so bound to their work and study that they don't notice a thief amongst them! Well, they lock their chests but that is no barrier for a skilled thief like me. I received their donation of mana potions with grace for my quest in saving the world (why wouldn't they donate their potions to get salvation anyway?).
Then also Isgaroth sold me some potions and didn't question my bucket load of potions in my backpack with the inscriptions 'Belongs to Pyrokar' on them. Seems like a nice guy.
I have set back to the Valley of Mines to electrify the last dragon left that is unwilling to donate its dragon heart.
Thanks for the information,
Calenhad
You're welcome! Good luck finishing the game (you're very close to the end...)!
