Hello. Yesterday I purchased Risen off of Steam, and every time I try running the game it crashes with the "can't find correct context in gfx system" error, but none of the fixes posted so far have worked for me. I just installed the game, so it obviously isn't a new monitor problem, but editing the resolutions listed in the .ini hasn't worked yet either. Yes, I have the latest drivers, etc. etc. Any help would be appreciated.

Here is a screenshot of the error and my DxDiag:

Welcome to the forum! §welcome

Can you please post your edited ConfigUser.xml, too? Perhaps there's an error in it.

Does your monitor/driver support 800x600?

My monitor does support 800x600, and my ConfigDefault is back to it's regular settings.

That's the wrong file. The ConfigDefault.xml in the Risen installation directory is the default configuration. You need to edit the ConfigUser.xml in your local user profile (see FAQ for exact path).

The file I attached should do the trick (can't verify it though as my display is only 1680x1050). But it must be placed in the correct folder (where the other ConfigUser.xml is).

It is also possible to use old program for changing basic Risen settings - Risen Tune - http://www.worldofrisen.de/english/download_60.htm

Ah, thank you, that was the issue. Since the ConfigUser isn't located where the FAQ claimed it was, I just went with the ConfigDefault. Thanks again.
