I recently chucked Norton Internet Security from my PC - for good. No Symantec product will ever be allowed on my system again.

I'm using Opera as browser for the internet. Now I miss only one of the many NIS features - the blocking of advertisement banners while surfing. But the ads are getting on my nerves. I want to get rid of them.

I know, Firefox offers a nice ad-blocker as plug-in. Anyone here using Opera? What do you do against annoying ads?

No - not just pop-ups. That doesn't cut it for me. I want to stop all aggravating ads forever. :D

This (http://my.opera.com/jor/blog/show.dml/978) seems a bit outdated.

That sounds not good. You should really save those data from your PC you need, what is important for you... then try this:

Check your system for spyware with this freeware:
Ad-Aware SE Personal Edition 1.06 (http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html)
Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.4 (http://www.download.com/3000-8022-10122137.html)

Check your system for Viruses with this freeware:
AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic (http://www.free-av.com/)

The best thing you can do is to change your browser.IE is not even recomended by the microsoft , due to it's lack of protection.i suggest opera or firefox , however i could not get some features in firefox to work.
