Well, I`m an adept of "Favourite ..." threads, so:
What`s your favorite apprenticeship in G2?
Mine is probably hunter for Bosper, but Harad gives tons of gold, too.

Hmm i wanted to make this topic :p
Well Bosper is nice but you can't compare him to Harold when it comes to cash! In the first chapter in G2 addon you can sell a sword to Harold for 300g - and you can make around 10 sword :D so thats like 3000 of gold in the first chapter!!! Thats a bit too much if you ask me! and you get money from other places too...
I don't know why but I love to be a smith. Forging swords is sth special. You use fire and steel to create a deadly weapon. But I never tried an other one. To be an alchemist sounds interesting too because potions are very usefull but searching herbs in a wood is not the style of an melee worrior. That is sth for mages.
But in NotR I didn't increased my forging skills because I needed all my leraning points for strength and one hand weapons. And I learned alchemy to because of brewing strength potions.

And girls...muhahaha i just made all players which played with mages, girls :D
lol jokeing.
How many LP you need, to learn to make a strenght potion?

Around 25lp I suppose
Around 25lp I suppose
Thats alot of LP i need 3 lvl for that :p i can instead use the 25LP into strenght but later the potions help alot more!
Well if i'm a mercenary i'll usually become Bosmer's aprentice. I think it suits best for my ranger character. Hunting is cool. Besides you don't need to be an alchemist's aprentice for being able to learn permanent dex/strenght potions.
On the otherhand if I join the monestary. there is not much sense signing up other than Conctantino. Because i'll be picking up those herbs and mushrooms anyway, so why not at the same deliver few diggers breads to him while keeping the other mana increasing mushrooms myself. He offers quite a good profit for those digger's bread mushrooms. I belive it was 30 gold pieces for each mushroom. its not bad if you ask me.
There is nothing wrong with harad. Its just that forging swords for making profit is utterly boring. Besides if you are a merc, Bennet can teach you that skill anyway and he can even teach how to forge those ore-swords. Furthermore a paladin doesn't really need any ordinary self-forged swords.
BTW: Each permanent potion recipte costs 20 learning points. Its not a bad trade. After all there is not much sense raising atributes over 90 with conventional training.
I usually raise my main atribute to 90 with training. After that i begin mixing potions and reading those stone tablets etc.
I like to be a hunter. Because it is more fun then beeing an alchimist or a smith. Out there in the wild with only your sword and bow...:)

If I`m not wrong, when Bosper takes you as an apprentice he says:
"Isn`t this more exciting than banging on swords all day or filling empty bottles in a dusty chamber?"
;)

i like to be a smith becous u make something and u proud of it u know,
this will be even beter in g3 make armor and things like that

Yes it is true.:D But is more fun then beeing a smith or an alchimist:rolleyes:
in the beggining of the game it is more worth it to become harad's apprentice
in the long run bosper is better
constantino isn't worth it imo
when ur a smith u can get as many gold as u want u hav to go to the marceneris to bennet and he hase as many stil bars as u want wait till he goes to the anvil or other then ask him for ekuipment

I know this trick. I was about to post it. If this trick hadn`t existed, then I would had never signed as Harad`s apprentice.
:D I like being Harads apprentice, becouse you gat payd good (100 gold for a sword, 10 gold is one steel billet, so you get 90 gold profit that's good):D
did u play NOTR roock?
becous in NOTR u can make more cinds of swords and give them to Harad
In Gothic 2 I didn't specializate on one apprenticeship becuase my experience points I give exclusive to strenght. ;) But hunter for Bosper I think I like most.

Do you have more info about hunting in G3?
In G2 you can only sell furs to Bosper but I would like to be able to sell claws, teeth adn other trophies.
I like Bosper too. He gives you money too. As RzL said, on the long turn he is good. Bring him a troll skin or a shadowbeast hide and you get alot ;)

I liked more bosper because I can go wherever I want:)
But Harad pays better so.....;)

In Notr he gives you 300 per a simple blade.
But I also liked Bosper :D
never worked for Bosper..only for Harad(mercenary, paladin) and Constantino when I played as a mage..but I was vvv lucky..I happened to have an an exploit bug..taht means that when I learned my 1st potion at constantino..I knew every potion....same to animaltrophy and to runes and to forgingskill...reallly useful this bug..

I like Bosper beacause you make a lot of money and you dont have to spenf time on making swords ;)
When merc, then Harad. I can buy steel from Bennet and then make them into swords and then sell them to Harad. And smithing is useful for a merc.
When militia, then still Harad.
When a mage, then Constantino.
Always been that way.
Why Harad, is because the matter of income.

Did you ever play as Bosper`s apprentice? He pays well in the long run. I got the richest this way.
In all locations you`ll find a beast to skin, and it`s not as boring as forging swords.
Harad says you have three tasks as his apprentice : Forge, forge and forge! :)

I like that dialogue. "So what should I do?" "3 guesses" "Forge, forge and forge?" Yeah, of course I have been his apprentice as well, but the money comes slow. But the experience you get from hunting is good though. And I don't use bows. And imo, hunting is more original when using bows instead of swords. I used to choose Bosper all the time, but I soon realised, that there are better oppurtunities. ;)

I never hunted with bows. And I think hunting with swords is more original. Bow using is the traditional way.
Btw, how about hunting with magic :D?

That could be nice.. no need to grill the prey afterwards you have killed it.

I went out hunting once in chapter 5: Departure with Holy Arrow. I accidentally killed Gaan.
Man, was that hillarious. In VoM, I accidentally killed Ur-Shak with Holly Arrow too. §xlol §xlol §xlol
P.S. My 100th post! §prost

You sure, it was the "Holy Arrow" you used on Gaan? It normally should only harm evil creatures, such as orcs, etc. Well yes, sometimes we accidentaly kill someone we didn't want to kill.. ^^ I sometimes accidentally kill Mud. My sword slips, and hits Mud instead of some creature etc..

Yeah, I was surprised, too. But I think Gaan was a sinner ;)
I accidentally chased Mud all over the colony and shot him with a crossbow, too :p.
But let`s stay ontopic.
Well... becoming apprentice for Constantino is stupid IMO.
Being Harad's apprentice means a lot of money :) and being Bosper's apprentice means more fun :). I like Bosper more, but i like Harad's money too. :D So in conclusion i like both. :) As a paladin/dragon hunter i'm forging "my" weapons ;) and as a mage i help Bosper. :)

did u play NOTR roock?

No, I didn't play NOTR but I'll get it on Friday, can't wait.
Being Bospers apprentice is also cool, but can anyone tell me who is interested in claws, wings, stingers, teeth. I couldn't find a trader who would give me a good price for them (only Busters contact for horns)
well..I would really liked to be able to play as an apprentice for Thorben..or matteo..maybe you could be a master of lockpicking and a master merchant
I think that to be an apprentice for bosper is the eassiest apprentiship (typo ?:) ) .

great thread ..
i'm for the smith because there are much more places where you can forge swords , and that's not all ....i have a very interesting bug .... i make 2 sword ( El Bastardo ) and one of them i put it on mine like a wepon .... then i sell the second weapon to harad .... then go back to my inventory and then when i put another sword ( 4 using ) in the place of El Bastardo .... instead showing me that i have only an el bastardo ... is showin me that i have two .... and then i repeat all the proces
:D
i think it is very cool

u should try it ... i have made a lot of gold with this bug ... :D
My favourite aprenticeship (and I think the one it worth it) is hunting because you can find a lot of animals to take their skin until the end of the game. Working for Harad is nice too, but only if you are a mercenary, but is kinda boring to make swords for money in later chapters. Working for Constantino is the worst option because from begining you have to give him a list of herbs (and I don't want to give him some rare plants and then to buy them back and lose some money in this "transaction"), and herbs are limited in Gothic so later in last chapters you cannot find many....... Anyway I think that hunting is the best option if you want to make easy money :D

We have Bosper, which buys skins for a good price, and I've heard he buys other trophies for a good price as well. (can someone confirm?)
Next we have Constantino, who demands us to turn over 3 rare herbs, but teaches us alchemy. He gives a good price for mushrooms.
And then there's Harad, who wants us to forge swords.
In G2 Classic, you could only forge one sword, and you didn't get that much gold from it. In NotR however, he'll teach you how to make a sword, fine sword, fine longsword, ruby blade and finaly El Bastardo.
And since a fair amount of row steel can be found, or bought cheaply for 10 gold a piece. Does this make him the biggest money-maker? It does cost a 3 levels to make El Bastardo though...
Selling a El Bastardo to Harad gives 433 gold.
PS. Can a mod turn this into a poll thingy?
Petyamester

I can tell you do not use Constantino, because the dark mushrooms come in handy when you need some mana, so go to Bosper or Harad. (I think they too pay the same, but at Harad, you have to pay LPs for that)

Harad is indeed a money bringer ;) and since most of the time i joined with him he has my vote.
PS : Poll added :)
Colonelu
28.02.2006, 13:19
I voted for Bosper cause i thinkk he is the most profitable for making money :D and i always join him
I always join Harad and in NOTR it`s realy moneybringing stuff, and U learn to forge very good swords - I usualu use them for myself too! :) So my vote goes to Harald!:dup:
I voted for Bosper because you learn anyway "skin animals" so it cost you less exp poins than to learn how to make swords. Maybe is safer way to make money selling swords at 1st chapter, but in last chapters when you need money is more easy to sell furs to Bosper at higher price taked from encountered animals then to make weapons. And is crucial in NOTR when you need every exp point you have for better training.
Bosper is the best master if you are a paladin or a mercenary. Hunting is cool and you never get boured of it.

I already made a thread similar to this.
Although I don`t have NotR, I know that there is not much of a difference between the G2 simple apprenticeships and NotR`s.
So the moderators should merge the threads, IMHO

I think that Harad gives you the best job. he can improve your strenght, he can teach you how to forge really well and he buys your blades so the gold is not the problem anymore.

Yeah, it´s really not necessary to have 2 similary threads, so i merged them. :)
I voted of course ( :D ) for Bosper, i ever go to him, as i said before, he´s just a cool guy.
Even in g1 i always try to learn hunting-skills as quick as possible, so Bosper is the only logical for me. :)
Hunter beacuse you also make experience when you kill creatures. ;)

Yup, it would be too good if you made EXP by forging swords or making potions :(

The game would be to easy, it is enough to get mony for your swords/potions/skins
