I tried to jump down Xardas's Tower and died. So much about my certainity.
Let's try it again...

When I arrived with Lares I wondered how to get back. I didn't want to go through the portal with the orc as I forgot to get some speed boosts before, which I usually do. I tried to walk back the path I came and suddenly I saw a shadow beast behind me. My attempt to run away was futile.

Why aren't you using the spiked club which you loot from the bandits with Cavalorn? It has a longer reach and deals almost the same amout of damage, maybe a bit less but not noticeable especially in the early stages where you're so vunlerable to pretty much everything.
Just askin'

It must be a bad habit from G1, where weapon damage is more noticable, but I don't think it's that important anyway.
Well I decided to play the whole Gothic serie and I thought of playing it the hardcore way. I won't start again a new journal if I die. I'll just continue on playing.
But let's hope I remember all things correctly and be patient enough so that I can finnish these games. I got no real hopes for G3 and onwards but I have my hopes for G1 and NOTR.
Anyways, gl for the those still playing Gothic this way.

You mean you will play from the start but will not write how you finished the previous quests again or will you load the save game? :> If you play HC then I'm guessing it's the first option
What I'm saying is I'll start playing Gothic 1 hardcore. If I die during the game, I'll post on the forum but I'll continue the playthrough since I mainly just wanna play Gothic again.
Is anyone still trying to accomplish the challenge?
I'm currently trying my luck with Gothic 2 (classic) as a melee mercenary. I'm already returning from the Valley of Mines with the letter for Hagen. I was actually pretty lucky and skillful throughout and only had a couple close calls. The first time was while hunting with Bartok. Despite our efforts the orc scout got pretty lucky with damage output and killed him. Fortunately I was relatively well-equipped for the time and managed to take down the mostly unharmed orc on my own. The other close call was with the bandits you kill for Hakon near Akil's farm. The archer among them got me good and one more arrow hit would have meant death. Now I'm doing pretty good, although I seem to be having a problem keeping other people alive, Bilgot was attacked by a dragon snapper and also died as I escorted him to the pass. I think it is pretty tragic how I seem to somehow be bound to lure chaps to their untimely deaths during this playthrough. Stats.
Well, this is pretty ridiculous. I've died. In the end game. Clearing the orc siege for some easy XP. First time I got even slightly cocky in the whole game, and the orcs go and form a ring around me leaving no way out. Stats. :(
