Great! A true Gothic game!
-
Not as bad as people predicted. It's quite good.
-
It's an OK RPG, but it ain't Gothic, no way.
-
Meh, I knew it'd turn out this way.
-
Gonna wait a while. Not worth the full price, that's for sure.
-
What?! I'm wanting a refund for my lost traffic. X(
-
Haven't played it.
-
Downloaded it, but it wouldn't work (technical difficulties).

SOLVED by doing this-->Enter the Control Panel - Sound - Properties - Advanced - and select 24 bit 48000 Hz(Studio Quality)
Many thanks for the workaround, mate but the game still sucks. Its buggy even in the demo.

installed the demo, had no issues at all, runs smooth at high details, with cheapest core 2 duo, 2gigs ram and radeon 4850, latest drivers, on vista x64
game looks pretty balanced, i mean the good and bad things, deer dying in john woo style (idk if i should laugh or cry), goblins also put up some nice stunts while being hit deadly by an arrow, strange melee combat, maybe i will be able to get used to it, very nice ranged attacks, killed everything with a bow, i'm a huge fan of medieval stuff and i have to say i never saw in a game armors and weapons so highly detailed, weapon mechanics (e.g.crossbow) simply astonishing, story looks promising, seems pretty linear though, i've been pinpointed trough the whole demo (but maybe it's just this tutorial part is like that)
almost forgot, amazing music
then again, it's just a demo, doesn't represent the final product, they used to say,...huh

What was your impression of the protagonist's personality? Due to his appearance I've only been able to think of him as an angsty Twilight-reading teen, so I would love to be corrected. Hopefully he's masculine, with bit of wit, like the previous protagonist.

I love the subtitles. "Ivy's pregnant? How...?" Because you impregnated her, you dummy.

Does the term neo maxi zoom deebie mean anything to you? That's pretty much the impression I get from him.

@Nikolai81 Yea I also made a screenshot of the orc dude and the subtitle said "Where are the mushrooms?" if you get my drift.
One question, how can I cast magic?

At 1280x1024 and all advanced settings maxed, I had no stuttering or robot moving characters. Framerate is very smooth. I ll install fraps to see the exact framerate.
Game is not bad from what I saw in 5 minutes of playing. Only the twillight movie hero pisses me off every time I see his face...
He is not even close to the badass nameless.

i got the answer ! my processor is too weak (amd 3200+) and that`s why i can`t play the game properly. But i won`t miss much ,that`s not a game ,that`s some pics made in paint or something...you can`t do anything ! SB made fool of gothic fans with this game . I mean ,invisible barriers?? COME ON! It looks so limited ,with no climbing ,no swimming . I won`t even mention about the combat system .
IMO , the game might be good for someone who didn`t play gothic 7-8 years ago . Why they never make games like that anymore? only crappy limited games now
Some people keep asking : why the hate ! Well how can you not hate when you see a game such as G1,G2+notr+G3 can transform into THIS ? We all thought g3 was bad ,but hey ,no way you can compare this .
I won`t even think about upgrading my 3 years old PC . Why? Simply because nowadays there`s no game that worths it ! There are few exceptions but those are really rare. We live in a generation of Justin Bieber and casual players ,you can`t really expect anything from a game now
imo i think that games are not as they used to be now because they don`t focus on one platform ,they go make for every piece of crap out there ! xbox ,ps ,mobiles ,iphone ,ipod and all the freaking crap !

The thing that really made my jaw hit the floor was using an alchemy table and being really impressed by the brewing animation and bubbling flask... only to be puzzled that it didn't open up any sort of menu. Hmmm. When I turned off "roleplaying interactions" in the options the alchemy bench no longer worked, just like anvils and forges. I already knew he could make things in the middle of nowhere with prowess that would make MacGyver cry, but not having the fixed work areas also able to do the same job is just ridiculous.
Not being able to sleep in beds is very disappointing, although night is now so bright and wolves so ineffective that running around in the dark isn't too dangerous (you can't even fall off a cliff in the dark--made all the more blatant by one area actually having a sign saying that you can't go up the path because the path is unstable). People don't care about you stealing their stuff in front of them, so waiting for night to loot a town is out, and the sneaking skill is all but useless.
Also disappointing is that every potion and alchemy plant seems to have some special effect hanging around it, making it really easy to see them. This reminds me of Thief: Deadly Shadows' infamous loot glint, and not in a good way. This reaches farcical levels during the mushroom quest if you have the consolisation options enabled because the mushrooms will also have giant exclamation marks above them.
I was also dismayed to see that some of the later enemies drop weapons you can't pick up. At first I thought this was a glitch, but when I killed more they dropped two weapons--one collectible, one not. The previous games had some instances of enemies dropping duplicate weapons with the originals glued to their hands, but having the unusable ones actually drop as if they are usable is really confusing (other enemies like goblins just drop their weapons directly, so it clearly isn't a technical limitation).
While controller support is nice to have it doesn't seem to be fully usable on its own (the inventory seems to still expect mouse use even when opened from a controller button). One really nasty downside of the console focus is the absolutely enormous text for all conversations. Even if you turn off the minimap and all other consolisation conceits you're still left with giant text and an equally enormous HUD. Whatever clever modder can find a way to fix these interface issues will surely be loved by all.
About the only positive I can think of is that the equipment looks really good (with the exception of the ridiculous two-hander dragging), but it also worries me that so many of the goodies I collected were ostensibly mundane objects that turned out to have magical effects attached; while it's possible that this was just done this way to make the demo exciting it does raise questions of whether magic items are going to be comparatively common now.

It might be a PhysX issue (Arcania bundles a faulty PhysX installer). Try uninstalling PhysX and installing the latest version from this link.

T'was a nice demo. I tried to explore every reachable bit of land.
(-) hope those invisible walls are a part of the demo.
(-^10) /epic phail at quest spoiler. WTF?! original Mario game didn't do that...Stupid american movies don't have such ending spoilers. i really hope it's the biggest easter egg ever. I've no problem using my Ancient Crystal Ball to see my future..but this? Nah, gonna hit my head until i lose my memory.
(-) The world seems rather dull. I do hope it's another bad part of the demo.
(-) Easy 1v1 combat.
(-) no more restoring HP by drinking from water barrels. Oh come on! COME ON! Do i really need to use a bed this time? I loved drinking from a water barrel just to replenish my 600-700+ health points.
(-) linear oblivion-like caves.
(-) Two Worlds speech. This is a totally no-no for a gothic predecessor..or any respectable RPG + no more jokes/strong personality.
(+) 2 hours of playtime. It's pretty lengthy for a demo.
(+) customizable HUD
(+) nice-looking well done char movement + all those things that hang on his back.
(+) Weapons/Armor diversity. Hope it's the same throughout the game or this one will turn into a (-)
(+) Player has Mana regen. I hate to read 1247194606 Ancient Knowledge tablets and smpfhillion prerequisite skills just to be able to learn a god damn MANA REGEN!
(+) nice and natural deer movement
(+) kewl graphics and effects
(+) lots of items. Oh boy i love to loot and so far this game satisfied my loot-thirst
(+) no loading times. YES! i don't have to drink myself into oblivion until a god damn quick save loads just because i didn't use a potion (just to keep them for the end of the game when i don't need them anyway) and epicly died.
(+) Diego.
(+) Bow/Xbow system.
(+) old G1-G2 gobbo-look. Yay.
(+) challenging fights with multiple enemies.
(+) epic witch laughter and scary look. Really..i had shivers down my spine during the whole dialog with Lyrca.
(+) Hayfork. LOL. Has anyone of you ever played Blood1?
(0) HP regen. Player has HP regen as well as some monsters. It gets annoying when my damage is less than enemy hp/s. Happend once...
(0) Don't know how to mark this one. Xbow is faster than Bow. WTF? it's like a damn medieval SMQL (submachine quarrel launcher). I like the sound though.

Overall..t'was okay. I really enjoyed messing on hard with those pallies. 4 at a time got me enough adrenaline to like this game.
i guess a 7.5/10 is fair for this demo.
Important question, though. Any idea of a Romanian vendor-website where i can buy/order this game ? thx in advance.

Okay guys so I downloaded the demo, ran it and... I'm experiencing the weirdest graphic bug EVER. I have lots of grass flying around the world! It causes that sometimes I even cannot see the character through the green field that seems to have grown above my head.
I tried messing with the details, but nothing helps.
My specs are: Core 2 Duo 2,4 GHz
4 GB RAM
ATI HD3650
I know it's not the best computer, but with 1366x768 resolution (which is the native resolution of my monitor) it runs quite well on medium details.
Anyone had this kind of problem?
Brothers of Metal will always be there, standing together with hands in the air!

System requirements are ridiculous. I can play the game on high details at 1024x768 with no problem on my system, which is pretty close to minimum requirements (below, actually). Optimization is very good. No bugs so far, except that sometimes, weapons that you picked up stay on the ground (someone mentioned some items can't be picked up. They can, you picked them up already, they just stayed on the ground). I like the dreamworld cave and the crazy witch, I find her funny. Story and atmosphere seem very good, I like how it feels like a fantasy novel. Dialogues are ok, but they could have worked more on that.Overall, a decent first Gothic game for SB. They did a good job, though they could work more on the world (a bit empty) and dialogues. Still, making a Gothic game is hard and you have to give the guys at SB some credit. I like the combat system a lot, its way better than G3. Some opponents have special abilities, others need to be attacked with certain spells. Hero has health regeneration, but so do enemies, so I am satisfied with this. In the end, my suspicions were confirmed and the game rises to my expectations. I can't wait to get the full version.

Btw Hellbilly did you play the Xbox 360 version?
Nope; wasn't up on the Marketplace yesterday. Is it up now? If so, I'll d/l during the weekend and give it a spin; interested in seeing how different it'll be in terms of controls and stuff. I wonder if you can change the interface on the console versions as much as on the PC; I have a gnawing suspicion that the answers is "no".

Dude, please stop this. Its stupid. You didn't even tried it then how can you be so sure it sux? SB made fool of gothic fans with this game? Speak for yourself. I am Gothic fan and I liked the demo. The game is not perfect but its still great rpg. Don't be so closed minded.. You are judging the game by its swimming and climbing features... See the bigger picture.
