I was talking more about the graphics and atmosphere and yeah I know that there are other things that make a game good or bad(story,gameplay etc.) but you can't know for sure until you try the game.Besides 20 pounds its not much so I'll buy play through it and if I don't like it...there's always Ebay.

Frankly, I'll try out the demo, and if it runs on my system acceptably and is not too horrible in terms of gameplay, I might just consider buying it.

But at the moment, the odds are stacked heavily in favour of my giving the game a wide berth. I'm really disappointed with most of the stuff I've seen. The anims I've seen aren't bad and most of the stuff seems to be nicely modelled. However, there are some problems with certain shaders (Diego's cloth shirt looks like plastic, etc) and the hero's head is just plain bad. The gameplay doesn't look very good from I've seen.

All in all, I shall suspend my judgement till I've played the demo.

Ill try the demo first but im pretty shure i wont be able to run it properly.

IF it will be playable...gameplay, combat, story, performance, mod kit available, i will buy it...

Otherwise i prefer to donate those 50 euros to Piranha Bytes instead to help them finish something decent that will satisfy my needs as a Gothic fan.

The way things go, a game like Gothic 4 will be in the budget price range quickly (Risen already goes for under 20€ on the X360 and at around 10€ for the PC over here) so if I don't deem it worthy of 50€-60€, I suspect I won't have to wait for too long.

FG? I guess it was ok.... although I wouldn't call it a Gothic game, the feeling just disappeared. The Gothic III feeling that is .

And you will buy the game because it looks pretty? Because all they've shown us so far are pretty graphics and a hero who likes to roll around on the ground a lot. Not really enough for me to give them dime one.

You mentioned atmosphere. It's my contention that there are many things that go into a game that make atmosphere. Again, all they've shown are pretty pictures. Just where are you getting atmosphere from? Unless pretty pictures is all it takes to give you a sense of atmosphere.

IMO, this attitude that if you buy the game and it isn't all that good it's okay 'cause there's ebay, sucks. Buying the game puts money in the pockets of those who produced it. So what's the incentive for them to produce a good game if they can make money producing a bad one? The worse thing that could happen to this series is for them to put out a crappy game and it sells well. Then the only people they'll care about are those who like that sort of dumbed down shit, and that's the only kind of games we can ever look forward to getting from them.

Arcania may turn out to be a good game, and if so I'll buy it. But I'm not about to cast my vote until I see what I'm getting. And I'm certainly not going to buy it, regardless of how cheap it may be, just because it has pretty pictures and they put the name "Gothic" in the title. Despite G3 and FG "Gothic" still means something to me, and I expect something a little more with that name in the title........at least for now. Arcania may change that opinion.
