Apparently this game isn't much good with widescreen resolutions, eg. not even stabbing the registry directly enabled widescreen support. So I have to play with oddly obese cowboys.
It's a nice game, although in many ways the open world element is wasted on this; the world is small and empty, and the optional missions are for the main part quite dull. The only side missions I really like are cattle herding. Pony Express is boring and hunting down outlaws is easy.
The game itself is nice. The riding is well implemented, the fighting is fast paced and fun and the missions are of suitable length with nice variation in them; sometimes it's close quarter combat, sometimes you pick off people from a distance, sometimes you sneak, etc. The plot is a cliché but serves its purpose, and although the graphics are kinda outdated and grainy and especially the animals (with the exception of horses) look kinda awkward, the game looks decent enough. The game's also got a pretty impressive list of voice actors; Kris Kristofferson and Lance Henriksen stand out.
A fun game, but not classic material in my opinion.
