That particular counter? :P
Cool, can't wait to see it then!
Also, are there going to be any new screenshots (compared to those in the magazin)?

Hai guys a release date would be cool.

A release date won't be fun. I'm afraid it will be a disaster. I hope even Deep Silver doesn't insisted on having a release date. I wish Piranha Bytes would have all the time and resources they needed to finish the game and gave us a polished and mature game.

well, catalinux, lets not forget we don't even know how far the game is. For all we know, Risen could be almost finished by now. And besides, i find your post a bit funny. One day, sooner or later, they will have to announce release date anyway. You can't just blindly guess that game won't be polished if it was released now, but it will be if it was released in future.
I'm sure DS and PB wouldn't announce release date if they weren't sure they could realize it without problems. You can see they were extra carefull with all info about Risen so far. And even if they will need extra 3 months, they can still pospone released date for 3 months then, wouldn't be the first time and certainly not the last time some publisher postponed the game.

Well, the game was at 60% when the GameStar preview was done. So, it should be at least at 65-70% by now. Am I right?
What I'm really worried is that some guys didn't take the "Christmas Elves" video too well, in fact they despised it quite a bit. So, I hope that when the counter expires, something important will be shown.

yeah, but if you count in this 100% also the time for polishing and testing, and the game without that part is almost finished i'd say, or atleast very close to it.

Oh, well, Bugs do not concern me that much. Of course, there's a limit to what I can accept but in general, I do not understand all the commotion about bugs here and bugs there.
Most bugs can be worked around (though it may require using cheats - which is why I definitely want something like the MARVIN mode in RISEN) but other design flaws cannot. For example, bad controls that were not properly adapted when the game was ported from the console. Or a boring and uninteresting story. Or lame characters. Or a fade, exchangeable world.
Bugs can be worked around or patched away. But the other things I stated above cannot. These are the things that really determine if I even try to find a way to live with the bugs or not. Bugs are just a nuisance. It's good if they are only a few but I do not like or dislike a game because of the amount of bugs it has.
Back to topic: There is a german print magazine called "PC Games" that currently has a contest. You must answer 10 questions about Gothic (altought the last question has nothing to do with Gothic and can only be answered correctly if you buy the current edition of the mag). From all correct submissions, four people will be selected and have the opportunity to visit PB in Essen, question them like a journalist would and even play a little RISEN there. This will be at March, 4th, 2009. People in the german forum speculate that the countdown may have something to do with that. I.e., the announcement of the winners or something like that.
Edit: Here's the link for those of you who can read german.

Btw, der Counter is over now

And we made a new announcement:
Risen will not only be shown at the RPC'09 in cologne. You'll also be able to play it by yourself!
And if you'd like to maximize your experience while being in germany for one or more days, you're able to register yourself as a VIP-guest and get some very special extras. VIP-guest don't have to wait in the lines, plus they're getting a limited t-shirt for Risen!
Since this announcement is related to the german market only, we'll not have a special announcement in the english part of our Risen Blog. But if you're nevertheless willing to visit us in cologne, feel free to register yourself here:

Well, that explains why the timer was designed for CET only. Big surprise.
