Hier mal ein Versuch das ganze ins englische zu übersetzen:
Here my try to translate the interview to english:

    ---

The Gothic Maestro, live in interview!
Today, we introduce to Kai Rosenkranz of Piranha Bytes. He was, amongst others, in charge of Gothic’s Music and Sound Effects.
Funny Detail: While answering the questions, the Audio Director did not knew his Interviewer worked for Cynamite…

    What is your job title?
Music- and Soundguy. But my friends call me “Audio Director”.

What precondition is needed to get your job?

First you have to make sure that I lose my job. And after informing my Boss about stolen ink-cartridges and secret Office-LAN-Parties after closing-time, you just have to chum up with some musical talent and good teamwork.

What did you do before Gothic and how did you come to the business?
I worked on Gothic 1 even before I finished my High School Diploma and I therefore do not have much pre-piranha works to show. During the sixth form I took the decision to visit some game developing firms during my free time, to get some idea about game developing business. The visit at the Piranhas became, against all plans, a spontaneous job-interview, what again was a radical change of my life.

Do you play the games you compose for?
I did play all games, but not exactly without cheating. To place the sound effects inside the world, I had to visit every part of it, and as director of the voice recordings I knew every line of dialog. The games could not surprise me at any time, which led to playing some scenes in ‘fast-forward’, to get to my personal highlights.

But you are not only in charge of Music and Sound Effects, are you?
No. As Audio Director I am in charge of the whole sound, which also counts in the care of the voice recordings and their integration into the game. Additionally, I am in charge of graphical special effects and community care.

What are the most important Titles you worked on?
    Track 1 to 32 of the Gothic3 Soundtrack (www.gothic3soundtrack.com).

A world without music would be like…
…Sex without touches. Looks all pretty good, but the real highlights are refused to you.

If you had to take over another job, which one would you choose?
Editor of the PC Action [Magazine]. I like the social component. Instead of showing your expertise to the world, you hide your genius decently behind a façade of dementia, to make even the uneducated reader believe, that it could be even worse. I find that extremely likable.

Let’s take a look for the charts – regardless whether books, films, music or games. Why do some products that are not as good as others often sell better than products of higher quality?
There are many factors that are important for the success of a product. The quality is one of them, additionally there is the degree of popularity of the brand or the name, the quality and amount of marketing, the chose of the distribution system and last but not least the reputation of the team, musician, or author. In the domain of literature, a wide distribution network and aggressive marketing is even needed to advise people of a book, because there are so many new publications every month. If a publisher does not have the means to do a massive advertising, a good book might go down. Additionally, a loyal fanbase does not only directly influence the sells, but take over a part of the marketing through mouth-to-mouth propaganda and active engagement in the community. A strong lobby on the customers side and their care are important factors, too.

What will you do in 50 years?
In 50 years I am going to be 77 and I’ll be playing with my grandchildren, travel to far countries with my wife and buy anti-rheumatism pillows on Sell-TV Channels.

What is your favorite mean of transportation?
    Cut & Paste.

Who or what is really annoying you at the moment?
Smokers, who feel constricted in their personal freedom through the non-smokers protection law, because they aren’t allowed anymore to make themselves and others ill, wherever and whenever they want.

With whom would you like to record an album?
An album with Sarah McLachlan at the Microphone and me on the grand piano.

Everybody can make music with a PC and the right software nowadays. Is that good or bad?
This is very good. You can only then cotton on to a creative area, when it is designed most easily for the start. If I had not been able to create some good achievements with my first steps with primitive but affordable software, the ‘spark’ might not have touched me and would have gone different ways.

What is the greatest failure of the human brain?
That it is even after so long evolution not able to understand the humor of some captions of some game magazines.

For some days now our website features a new and lengthy interview with Kai Rosenkranz from Piranha Bytes. Unfortunately, it is still not available in English. However, in several other postings some users indicated they are working on it.

If someone prepares a translation of KaiRo's latest interview and would like to see it displayed at our website, she/he can certainly count on me to have a look at it. Just send me a PM.

It's plain to see the interview could pose some challenges for the interpreter since KaiRo wasn't exactly answering in simple sentences.
