Hello members of World of Gothic.
I would like to make a costume/cosplay of a Seeker and I need your help.
I’m happy to read your question. I like sewing and made a lot of costumes for myself.
Sorry for my poor English, but I will try to help you.
1. Start with a simple black robe. Like this: [Bild: Robe.png]
Add red allovers at the end of the sleeves. You can cut them in that special wave-form. The white stripes you can paint, or use very small white cloth stripes and sew it on the red parts.
2. Next is the “plaid”. You only need four pieces of cloth plus four pieces of red cloth for the allovers. Maybe you can find al fabric with the same look like the plaid of the seeker? Otherwise paint it... Put them together like this: [Bild: Plaid_1.png]
After that: add the red allovers. Do them like explained in step 1.
For the plaid you need very stiff cloth. I would say you use three layers of fabric for each part.
3. Hood: It’s a little tricky, because I don’t know what this red thing on his back is. Maybe you can make it part of the hood? Sew the parts along the colored lines! Try this: [Bild: Hood.png]
I can’t give you some precise sizes. When I do something for myself, I take some newspapers, glue them together and draw the pattern on it. After that I ask a friend to help me, put the paper-pattern on my body and try to find the right measurements. I will give you some imprecise sizes, but you have to check them. They are like standards for me (175 cm high).
I hope you can understand my drawings...
I buy most of the fabrics at IKEA. They have a good quality and are relative cheap. For special fabrics you have to check the web or a special fabric shop.
Ask me, if you need more help. But I’m not a professional.
I think most of it is clear enough to understand, thank you . Common sense helps alot if grammar fails. Edit: As for the pictures, if I don't get them, I'll ask a friend or ask you to explain further :P
I think a purple-black robe would be best.
I think the back part is actually the same as the hood itself..
I have found other forum posts as well saying that you can use newspaper to draw patterns.
I found this to make a doll that I can use to make it fit better.
I'm glad you took the time to draw something with Paint, I barely have enough patience.
IKEA, never thought of that, I'll see what they offer.
I wonder if I should make the mask as well, not really useful if you need to see things.
Besides, it's made from wood or plastic, as it is a medieval costume.. wood, I guess.
Again, thank your for answering me and drawing those pictures.
To the mask: I would buy a simple plastic mask and work on it's top with latex. So you can give the mask a wooden structure or any other structure you like. You can buy fluid latex. Fill it into forms or coat it on the surface. As well you can mix it with acrylic colures and paint your Mask with it.
This will be not as heavy as real wood.
Please send me some pictures when you have finished your projekt!
I'll see if I do the mask, it's definately part of the whole aura around these guys though.
I'm just worried about my fov, I wanna see as much as possible.
Would yellow/gold sunglasses(minus the metal/plastic framework) work for the eyes? I guess that would be nice to have
I have to weigh things against each other I guess.
Looks vs Comfort.
I'll be sure to update as soon as I start getting stuff.
Im a great procrastinator though, expect to see nothing until the summer, or even after.
