Ι know some German, here are some basic points:

Bjorn said that they have invested lots of time to polish and tweak Risen 3 technical wise, and that the game is a healthy mix of what the developers had in mind and what the fans asked. He also says that the dialogues are big (bigger than all of their games), take a great amount of the games time and that they used almost 240000 words for them.

Harald Iken talks about the things they improved over R2, he says that they created a realistic non-linear world and although there is not a single landmass the world is big and there are a lot of things to explore like in Gothic! He points out that this is the most important thing they missed in R2 and now its back. He talks a bit about combat and says that it has been improved that it feels more fluid and that monsters can be blocked which wasn't the case in R2. Finally he said that he found the pirate story in R2 pretty good and that the main problem of the game was it's linearity which they have now improved.


But seriously I'm really pissed of that there is yet not a single gameplay video of R3. Wasn't there a presentation yesterday??

Thanks for your translation! I concur also to that, really need a gameplay video instead of screenshots that appear here and there.

Skazzy: That's pretty typical of expos like this. Developers and publishers are nervous about unofficial footage of unfinished builds of their games getting public, as people could use it to spread false information, intentionally or otherwise, and interferes with their marketing scheme. In all honesty, since there isn't much of a marketing scheme to begin with, I think allowing photos and short video clips would probably help them more than anything.

For the multilingual folk here, has anyone on the German forums talked about being at the convention and being able to play the game? If anyone on this site got to play it, it will be the best info we got so far.

Not necessarily. The story, scripting, and level design may all be finished, but the last 3 months may be full of bug fixing and a lot of polishing. They just don't want anyone to start thinking that those problems will end up in the final work.

I am very very pleased about what iv'se saw in that video. Yea Piranha you won my hearth again. All about i was afraid the most has proven to be wrong. You did a great job with animations and combat! It looks more fluide and realistic , the way the hero charge the hit to give damage!
I like the fact that you can miss your spells with non automatic targeting. Those last moves which execute the enemy are welcomed too.
The game looks great for me. Nice job Piranha Bytes. I hope this is the real thing you will release at my birthday by the way !

Looks quite good to me, a little bit too colourful, but I hope that other islands will have darker enviorments.

Combat -cannot say if it's worse or better than Risen 1 combat, it's simply different. Fluid animations, loads of dodging, even more dynamic than R1's combat, a lot like Arcania, but I like it. The only downside is lack of two-handed weapons...

What I don't like is the camera system, but since camera movement is much more dynamic ( it adjusts itself to the situation ) , I think that was the cause for such camera setting.

I haven't seen any helmets in promo, where are they ?

Risen 3 - we will see, how it's like at 15 of August, definately interesting RPG and better than Risen 2
Looks like Piranha Bytes squeezed and got 110% from their old genome engine.
