    The Gothic Symphony Project

So I had this idea. We are quite a bunch of people here who know how to play instruments. Why don't we create a piece of music based on the music of the Gothic series? It needn't be renditions of those tracks, we could compose and play an original piece of music, by mixing video recordings of each and every one of us into a single track.

There are some guys on the russian side who are really good at composing music (they did some fan-themes for Risen), we could ask them to collaborate with us and help us.

We could also ask the German community to provide us with some talented blokes or gals as well.

What do you think? And if you're in, what instrument can you play? Any single one is welcomed.

    Tracks worthy of being samplet:
    01. Is Nomine Vacans - Corvus Corax & Bochumer Symphony Orchestr

    06. Gothic 3 OST - Faring Explore Day

    Gothic 3 - Ishtar Music

Gothic 3 - Geldern Night Music

Sounds solid to me. Do you have someone with mean skills at mixing? And some nice piece of software?

Piano and Guitar guy here. Don't have a piano on hand.

I doubt the software will be a problem. Mixing audio skills on the other hand. Hmm... I don't know, I could try learning if we have all the tracks recorded.

I am only confident of my guitar skills, so I'll pass the piano bit. Could you find a piano/organ/synth in England (a friend who might let you borrow/rehearse on it?)

Well, let's see how well we manage to get the music going. If we manage to record anything, I think it would be awesome to have a choire of all WoG members singing (something Hans Zimmer did with around 200k fan recordings for TDKR soundtrack). I'll update my first post with tracks worthy of being sampled.

Wouldn't it be simpler to record directly to CD quality audio (44.1 kHz/16 bit wav) instead of some lossy, horribly compressed video format from which you'd then have to extract the audio before being able to use a proper music/wave editor to edit it?

Good luck with this project. Sounds pretty nice.
I've got bongo drums but I really lack skills.

Oh, but I got a friend that knows how to mix pretty decent. And I bet he can get a high quality sound.

    Sounds like fun.
These next few days I'll record and tab out what I have in mind. Be advised that it's nothing more than background/ambient music. Perhaps you can fit it in somewhere.
